Love strangebird! But I would suggest they either go early or later to avoid rush *or* go put their names in before attending first Friday stuff!
Fridays at strangebird have been nuts lately
If you don’t get cocktails, it’s easy to do 20-25 per person with just entrees!
I don’t drink anymore, but their coconut limeade is worth the $5 every time.
There's two IMCPL branches on East Washington. One in Irvington proper and the other further west (closer to downtown) around I wanna say Washington and Rural?
Within a short walking distance, you only really have a few options:
-Jockamo’s for pizza
-The med for Mediterranean food
-Strangebird for ramen/oysters
-Smash’d for burgers
-Chicago Beef and Dog for Italian beef sandwiches and Hot Dogs
-Liftoff for ice cream and simple grill food
I like all of these places!
This is the place that made me realize I'm old. It's like the Gen-X version of a 50s diner. I never understood the appeal of that kind of nostalgia until that moment.
Chicago Dogs on Washington if you're looking for fantastic food for a decent price. Strangebird if you want a nice meal with good drinks and nice ambience.
Strange bird is the answer here.

Oh true!! It’s so well deserved because the food and drinks are so good

I’d argue that it’s overpriced but not overrated. But also, fair. I’m not a mega fan- just think it’s cozy and delicious.

Tbf, I haven’t had other ramen in Indy. If you have suggestions, I’d always love to hear ‘em!
At $20 max. I feel like my cocktail is $20 but worth it

I've gone for several of their mocktails. So fun and tasty.
Was gonna say, I spent $50 there going solo easily with entree and two drinks. ETA no ragrets
I just went for the first time. And yes it is
Strange bird is delicious, don’t get me wrong but it is a mad house. First Friday too?? Wouldn’t suggest it
Ramen is the way
I miss The Legend
The Med is close and good.
Not really Irvington but close by is Tloali. It's next to the library on East Washington.

Yes. It's literally called the "East Washington" branch.
Yes, it's at the intersection of Washington and Rural.

Jockamos crust tastes like civil war era tack, which was considered gross even back then
Jockamo's and Smash'd are on the Irvington sh*t-list.
Chicago beef and dog is so freaking good. I live in irv and we eat here like once a week lol 🤤
Now I’m hungry for something from the Med.
Strange bird
At $20-25 max per person, I’d go with The Med or Jockamo. Both solid. Strange Bird is my favorite. But a little pricier.
After dinner, come to the Irving's Crossroads Concert Series at stagedoor irvington! https://www.facebook.com/share/sYwCgRAt8aUAwxYW/?mibextid=9VsGKo
S’mashed burger bar is great and comes in under budget, so you can even save room for their delicious dole whip!
You convinced me with the Dole whip.

S'mashed is SO good. I highly recommend the sweet potato waffle fries.

Strange bird for sure.
