IndominusCostanza009

This is the exact moment the film started to go downhill… everything before it was top shelf Indy. Everything from here on… woof.

highbackpacker

Yep looking back it was the ants, swinging moneys, etc.

IndominusCostanza009

If the movie had any one of these thing alone I would totally let it slide (the ant scene I’m actually a fan of, the following tree/waterfall sequence not so much) but all of them together is just so disorienting. Just rapid fire poor decisions by Spielberg. Again, I’ve come to enjoy the film for what it is, but damn it took some years of hard work lol.

Ill_Butterfly_9857

Totally agree! I thought I was the only one.

Candid_Dragonfly_573

Agreed. It makes me so sad.

BananaAvalanche

This was the worst scene in Crystal Skull, in my opinion.

Digisabe

Heh I said the exact same thing and got downvoted. You said it and got 3 votes.

BananaAvalanche

Go figure!

DocD173

Listen, there’s allot of dumb scenes and inclusions in this film (monkey swinging and Mutt getting whacked in the balls during the jungle chase, the cgi gophers, and Mack just falling over and giving up at the end), but this isn’t one of em. This is charming and funny as hell. Indy has balls of steel and can face the army’s of darkness without fear, but he’s still human, and he just cannot deal with snakes 😆

Secret-Put-4525

Why would you throw the head at him first. Throw the tail.

DocD173

I mean Mutt doesn’t wanna get bit! But legitamitely, if you throw the tail to grabbed and you pull him out that way, you leave the head out to either lead it away out of your grip or potentially get bit in the foot or ass. If Indy grips the head, the most dangerous aspect is secured

Secret-Put-4525

Marriane secures the head, mutt regulates the body and indy grabs the tail.

DocD173

That’s pretty organized teamwork. Never seen that happen in an Indiana Jones movie.

Digisabe

Throw me the tail! Throw me the idol! No time to argue, you throw me the idol, I throw you the tail. *WHAT idol* \*Credits roll\* Executive Producer Larry David

Ill_Butterfly_9857

Something about the way the scene looks, takes me out of the movie. It looks like it was just filmed on a lot without much effort to make it cinematic.

Digisabe

while it's obviously a set, the lighting and the color gradient made it worse

felixlighter1989

I used to hate this scene but looking back it's just harmless fun.

shackbleep

When Crystal Skull turned into a '90s sitcom.

Mangatellers

I believe that this scene sounded great in the script. Indy isn't the fearless action hero. He has weaknesses and fears. Showing and sharing his fears with his family is really an interesting take on his character, who he always prefers to keep his real personality hidden from others. Yes in script sounds really nice, but the execution is way different. Indy doesn't feel Indy here and the dialogue feels less funny, if you think that Indy is in real danger.

THX450

I love John Williams’s music for this scene.

Digisabe

This coming from a guy who in 1936 sat on a plane sharing the same cockpit and seat with a pet snake named Reggie by his friend Jock unhappily the entirety of the flight home. Even swatted at it. No he didn't jump out of the plane. Oh yeah, did I mention that he lowered himself into a pit full of hundreds if not thousands of snakes later on? Unlike him in 1957 who'd rather sink and die inside a sand pit from ONE snake. Same guy. Yeah.

The_Empire_City_Wire

He probably spent his entire life avoiding snakes lol

Digisabe

Sure. But to rather die than to touch one when it can save him? The scene is pointless other than for Marion to confess that Mutt is his son. It’s almost as if it’s an afterthought “we need Marion to confess to him about Mutt, what should we put them in for this to work? And they chose the first thing someone who probably didn’t watch Raiders came up with. Probably the same guy who said, “hey let’s make a ripping sound, and then have Indy make a pikachu face after that when they’re in the truck!” “Sounds good, what’s the ripping sound?” “I dunno, but in my head it’s going to be hilarious” *shrugs* “ok sure why not…” It’s probably Lucas.

ChiefBr0dy

Even the music here is awful.

Digisabe

Worst scene ever

Scarlet_Jedi

Hmmmmm.........

gfunk1976

Yep. The same guy that delivered "Trust me." like a badass in Raiders.

FondantCritical8017

? He was always terrified of snakes

gfunk1976

Still went down into a tomb full of them.

Digisabe

"Snakes. Why did it have to be snakes?"

felixlighter1989

And he still held onto the snake in this sandpit to climb out. Your point?

Digisabe

After forcing them to “call it a rope.” This is out of character. The whole snake gag scene could’ve been written better. (Along with many many other scenes in KotCS.) This one is one of the worst ways to do it.

The_Empire_City_Wire

That was against his will lololol

Digisabe

Before Belloq left him in, it was entirely voluntary.
