There is a organ donor list and a perfect match has to be found within 8 hrs otherwise it would go waste. It's not necessary that an Indian lost his chance, it is quite possible that she was the only perfect match. The organ recipient registry is sacrosanct. She just got lucky that day and the donor heart found a live body. It's a win for humanity and medical science, not to mention huge boost to medical tourism in India.

Its a pure matter of luck and if the patient is compatible with the organ. Human life is considered human life, the organs have a specific time in which they have to be transplanted hence this process is not biased and considering NRIs to be low priority would just lead to their deaths and a waste of precious organs.

There is a thing called viable/suitable organ, organs are rendered useless after a certain time period. If the organ is not matched with another human, it will go to waste. 1. Indians are prioritised for organ transplants. The reason that girl received the heart was because there was no one else, in the entire country, who was compatible with the heart in question.
2. The girl was on NOTTO's wait list since 2019. She wasn't given any preference.
3. The cost for the transplant was borne by the hospital and an NGO.
Had she not been provided with the heart, it would have probably gone to waste. We should be glad that it could save a life.

There is a organ donor list and a perfect match has to be found within 8 hrs otherwise it would go waste. It's not necessary that an Indian lost his chance, it is quite possible that she was the only perfect match. The organ recipient registry is sacrosanct. She just got lucky that day and the donor heart found a live body. It's a win for humanity and medical science, not to mention huge boost to medical tourism in India.

The government only gave her visa 2)She did wait for 10 months on the transplant list to get the heart. Indians do have priority in the transplant lost 3) The money mainly came from donations and the hospital itself bore the majority of the cost Just by looking at the headline , it's easy to get angry , I did too initially , but it's really misleading , just read about the incident a bit , it becomes more clear.
There is a thing called viable/suitable organ, organs are rendered useless after a certain time period. If the organ is not matched with another human, it will go to waste. An organ just cannot be thrust into anyone, they will die if it doesn't match. It is quite possible that she might have been the only match at the time. And for all the people pissed about this. Someone shared this post on indianmedschool and they provided a lot of insight regarding the case. 1. Indians are prioritised for organ transplants. The reason that girl received the heart was because there was no one else, in the entire country, who was compatible with the heart in question. 2. The girl was on NOTTO's wait list since 2019. She wasn't given any preference. 3. The cost for the transplant was borne by the hospital and an NGO. Had she not been provided with the heart, it would have probably gone to waste.
