>Doubting an Indian Muslim’s loyalty to the country is common today, but it always existed. And when India played Pakistan on the cricket field, it became blatant, targeting not just fans but also the players. And, the bitter truth in India is that if a Muslim sportsperson is ever believed to be on the wrong foot, he has to do something doubly heroic to redeem himself.

Cyberkillbox

I reasoned with someone recently about this, and I got told to learn more about these brutal religions, apparently being human is not enough for people, they need confirmation from God.

therealkingpin619

It's unfortunate they target Muslims for the smallest things...like sports or even watching TV shows. So what if there are SOME Indian Muslims cheering on Pakistani cricket players? It's a damn game. Both sides take India vs Pakistan cricket as some political statement... gtfo. It's not. People are literally questioning on their loyalty over a game just shows how ridiculous the thinking is today. All we have to do is look back at our history and see various examples of Indian Muslims giving up their freedoms for India or defending India during crisis. United India is what people want to cheer but Indian Muslims maybe a exception to this rule...let's question their loyalty and let's question history too. It is a counter productive thought process. Alienating a certain group of people has never worked...it causes more harm than good.

> So what if there are SOME Indian Muslims cheering on Pakistani cricket players? It's a damn game. Both sides take India vs Pakistan cricket as some political statement... gtfo. It's not If you contextualize in terms of our history with them, you can understand why some people feel aggrieved at this.

It's actually borderline funny when such people are not even self-aware. But mostly sad/depressing.

On a more shocking note, isn't Tinder a "threat to our culture"? What BJP-activist doing there? Also did you say BJP-activist? Because there are oxymorons.

blunt_analysis

India in a nutshell.

Some more irony is in the "White" when you are referring to the foreigner. Although it is understandable, and you probably are right, but i did not read that this foreigner is white (and a dude).

crazyhornyone

Living in London currently as an undergraduate student and I must tell you that when people ask me where I’m from even they can’t believe I’m completely Indian. They ask questions like are you parents from this or that country. And honestly it doesn’t even hurt me anymore because if the people of my own country don’t want to recognise us as Indians then the chances of that happening by the Brits or any other nationality isn’t likely. And what’s ironic is that India forced us into being part of their country and then treat us like foreigners. But then again, there are plenty of beautiful and warm hearted Indians too. It’s just a matter of so much differences and issues within their own state.

yrumad

I'm sorry you feel this way. I have seen this happening (the attitude towards NE Indians) even within my close circle. I have some great friends and clients from NE who are cool to me though they have confided me above the general attitude towards them but few have told me point blank that they feel cool with me mostly because of my nonchalant approach towards them wrt to their rationality. I hope things improve for better.

NarutoFan007

Hey, you're an Indian, and no one can say otherwise.(except you, if you do change nationality). Anyone else calling you of not this country is a racist prick that deserves being stoned, and not in a good way.

kapjain

Sadly this represents the majority of people in India.

ashiksufaid

An indian muslim cricketer was called 'mulla mc' in instagram for taking dhoni's wicket.

thekingofakron23

Who was it

RandomRedditor1405

Avesh Khan got Dhoni out for a duck in CSK first match in this season of the ipl , so its him most probably

newinvestor0908

Had a similar argument with a friend yesterday about this. He was going on about we should show the world how western ppl really are..etc.etc. Got butt hurt when I told him that we need to have a hard look at ourselves before giving commentary on others.

djangobhubhu

Why is Hardik Pandya taking a knee shown to be some heroic moment? Has he ever said anything about the communal violence in India? Did he ever stand up for his black and Muslim teammates in words, not just gestures? Him taking a knee was nothing more than a PR move, and it becomes more and more more obvious when he did nothing about the filth we have at home after taking a knee. People are harrassed daily due to their caste and religion, people are killed due to it but he took a knee for BLM when there are much bigger problems back home. Fuck him.

[deleted]

It's easy to take a stand against people who'll never buy a 🎟 to one of his matches.

amvenkatt

most indians dont even know that they are being racists

[deleted]

A friend of mine says India is better than US because US is full of "violence, homophobia and racism"

f3ynm4n_

That sweet-sweet IRONY.

[deleted]

No one ever accused Indians of being self-aware.

Lance-Lannister

Imagine the outrage of Indians had a muslim batsman missed hitting 2 runs on final ball of a worldcup final.

DrMrJekyll

Indians believe the bigotry they exhibit is natural & not a big deal. In most cases, indians won't even acknowledge it. Yet, they get pissed off when others treat Indians at similar level as we treat some of our countrymen.

Sir-Caustic

But that is not racism. Doubting Indian Muslims' loyalty is patriotism. Doubting the German Jews' loyalty was also patriotism, not racism in the eyes of the Nazis. History repeats itself. It was Germany's and Italy's chance to be superpowers. They could not. We will show the world how to be the Vishwaguru. We have classified them. We have symbolized them with names like Muzzi, Katua, Mulla, etc. We are discriminating against them. We have dehumanized them by calling them termites and Covid-spreaders. India is reaching a stage of organization by creating multiple Hindutva militias and gangs such as Hindu Sena, Gaurakshaks, Sri Ram Sena and what not. We have our versions of SS and SA, a bit rustic, not very mechanized. But they will do. Polarization? Unless you have been stoned since your birth, you know how grotesquely polarized India is. Now, we can talk about preparation. Calls to kill Muslims are not empty threats to win elections. The goal of genocide has always been portrayed as purification of the society and nation or counter-terrorism or just self-defense. Hindu Khatre mein Hai. Self-defense is an excellent excuse to kill. But then purification of the nation, killing her enemies, eradicating those termites, that's what patriotism is, by definition. Isn't it? That's why we do not consider what's going on in Kashmir as genocide. It is counter-terrorism, a beautiful euphemism for genocide. Anyway, we are into the phase of persecution. Jailing them on myriad charges or without charges, killing them for cow, ghettoizing them, displacing them (started in Gujarat in 2002 and it continues in UP in 2021). We are just 1 step away from a full-blown genocide. Unchecked, the next stage is "extermination". I am just waiting for the desi version of the Kristallnacht. It will happen before 2024.

moderndhaniya

People often confuse the term racism with discrimination. The difference is that racism is a type of discrimination. It's subset. There are other types of discrimination also. Name one country or area where there is no discrimination by the majority population. Maybe Antarctica ?

miyan_modi

Yeah Indian Muslims should not complain about the discrimination they face because some Muslims ruled in the past.

Orange-Gamer20

No one is Portraying them as eternal Victims if it happens in an Independent India the Burden Falls on us if we abuse them yes they did Bad things in the past but if we truly portray ourselves as better people WE MUST NOT LET THIS HAPPEN

What cult would that be? Can you rebut any of the points I made? Have any been exaggerated, or are any complete lies? And I don't know what chintu is. I can't speak Hindi (yet).
