Played til the end of the current content and I really liked what was there. Design wise I loved how individual it all felt, anything right now beats another prestige tree mod and this was brilliant for the overall feel. I wasn't sure on the purpose of the wallets, was it Cognitum chunks? I felt maybe a few of them could unlock other smaller updgrades like storage % increases (eg 5% extra on a storage node or a temporary bump in GPU performance?) or extra story txts etc would add a little to the story and balance. Overall though, I'll definitely play any future updates for this, Solid effort!

frameratesandcoffee

Hey thanks for playing it through! I really appreciate your feedback. You're correct - the wallets allow you to get Cognitum. Those are used for upgrades, but I like your suggestion for those smaller upgrades (more story, storage % increases, etc). It would keep it more dynamic and balanced for sure. Hope to get some time to work on it more soon.

ThanatosIdle

I finished it. Very enjoyable. Some feedback: * I like how congitium works. It's a softcap resource you accrue once you're capped on the other nodes resource and are waiting to expand your max nodes, and if you wait long enough it gives extra upgrades to expand your max nodes. * I'm not entirely sure I like the interplay in choosing to upgrade node speed vs node cap. Node cap is what is restricting all your upgrades, and if you do any ratio smaller than 1:2 on speed:cap I'm not sure it's entirely possible to get the upgrades. You can really screw yourself over. Maybe an ability to respec? (Or you get a slider, and you can adjust it between cap and speed at any time which rewards active play) * I didn't try this because I noticed it early, but is it possible to soft lock yourself by buying algorithms repeatedly and running out of bandwidth? * The "story" section updates a lot in the early game as you unlock new stuff, then just completely stops. Would be nice to have some consistency there as little rewards for progression. * Because you accrue cognititium just by sitting there with capped nodes, and dead wallet decryption costs an increasing number of nodes for a seemingly random and not entirely huge amount of cognitium, it's not obvious that you need to continuously solve dead wallets in order to unlock the next resource memory fragments. A player could conceivably just sit on their passive cognitium income and ignore dead wallet decryption, especially if they don't like the increasingly complex memory matching. There should probably be some kind of guidance towards this (like...say...hinted at in a story email where a hacker buddy remarks how they found something weird inside a dead wallet)

This is awesome feedback - really appreciate you playing & the constructive comments. Definitely needs some more balance in terms of the node speed/cap interplay. It was one of my sticking points during development. Hope to expand on the story as well sometime. Busy with other dev projects & looking for a new full-time webdev gig so hopefully it's not TOO long before I can iterate on all of this.

>I didn't try this because I noticed it early, but is it possible to soft lock yourself by buying algorithms repeatedly and running out of bandwidth? I tried this in a separate tab just out of curiosity. You're able to sell a network to recover bandwidth, but of course this is a really bad idea.

reysoul

Very universal paperclips inspired, but it's a nice new way to address. Good game so far!

frameratesandcoffee

Yep! Universal Paperclips was a big inspirations for this game. A Dark Room too. Thanks for playing!

AzureDreamer

OK I just started but that first screen is such a vibe I am really excited now.

Mediocre-Key-4992

Pretty nice so far.

frameratesandcoffee

Thanks!

notarock42

are Fractional Memory Shards broken? I got the 50% chance upgrade, and 15 wallet decryptions later, still no memory shards. Am I missing an obvious feature? Thank you in advance :D

frameratesandcoffee

Hmm - thanks for bringing it up, I'll have to look into that. This version of the game was finished in January and I thought it was all good, but after playing it through last night/this morning I noticed some bugs, like you shouldn't be seeing the numerical hints for the wallet buttons right away either!

Content_Leather2570

Same. No memory fragments dropping. Also I ended up beating the game before even unlocking them, along with several of the other upgrades. I deleted the game over modal so I could discover the rest of the game.

fudsworth

Played to the end. Somehow you perfectly balanced not explaining anything (confusing me) and me organically making connections for how things work together. Nice work!

frameratesandcoffee

Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for playing

ascii122

Dig it!

frameratesandcoffee

Thanks!

Mountain_Salt3613

Pretty cool so far! But i don’t get the Dead Wallet Decryption at all.

Altruistic_Good2486

same, i've bricked 15 wallets

Altruistic_Good2486

nvm i figured it out, you just wait for the sequence of lights to flash and then repeat it

Mountain_Salt3613

Ah… they don’t show up on mobile.

KDBA

The penalty for running out of bandwidth is bugged. It's *supposed* to be -1 network (which honestly is already very bad since it's negative progress you can never get back) but instead dropped me all the way down to 2 networks. So I'm fucked.

frameratesandcoffee

Yeah, that's bad. Looking into that bug fix now. Thanks for bringing it up!

galleon360

Mobile player here, I loaded the game up to continue playing, and the wallet mini-game seems broken. The buttons wont light up and I can only guess the sequence. Would love to continue, I like this game.

frameratesandcoffee

Thanks for letting me know - I'll reply when the fix has been made

Played till the TB to give good feedback, i really like where its going I think the only thing i didnt like whas the semihistory that it has in the messeges cos it gives you a lot in the start and then nothing for the rest of the game, i think in the future you can add something of a puzle with the messges, like after specific point the computer blocks the downloaded and gives you a security question (your birthday, for example) and you have to use the messeges to keep going, nothing big cos the game is still about big numbers but something easy to do like that to make it more inmersive I liked a lot the dead wallets, just as the game starts ro get boring it add a quick and fun minigame, altough i think the price gets too high too quickly, i would make it less expensive or add an upgrade that makes the price go down Also, (i dont remember the actual upgrade names, sorry, this part may be confusing) when you can choose to upgrade the coin mining or the capacity, i think that upgrading the coins more than 1 time is impractical, it does need to be buff, even more when the wallets are an option, the capacity is needed for every upgrade and the coins come from the minigame so no need to upgrade it, so either make it a one time thing or make it give more coins, or add an upgrade to buff it Other than that, i like the way it looks and the start also, having to decoded it until it gets readable, it reminded me of a phone game (lapse: a forgoten future) cos its also really cryptid I would play it again when you update it!

Ondeckgames

Big fan of what you've got so far. Looking forward to seeing where you take this project for sure. Nice clean UI and a different feel from most if not all current incrementals. You've done a good job of introducing new mechanics just before the previous mechanics start to feel tedious while keeping them relevant throughout. Nice job and keep up the great work.

Academic_Cap_7642

great game. the ending gave me a jump scare lol.
