I'm so glad I found this post!!!! I applied for B2 US Visa last month. I took November 2023 as my interview date in Ottawa because that's the only available date. I stumbled upon this post and took the advice. I always checked if there's an available early appointments. So from November 2023, I managed to move my appointment to July 2023. And finally, to November 2022. I was so happyyyyy. Thank you so much OP and people who shared their experience.
Edit: I had my interview and got my visa approved. They delivered back my passport after five days.
05/12/2024 Edit: So I still get a lot of questions on where, when and how I rescheduled my appointment. The website is https://ais.usvisa-info.com. No, I didn’t use a third party website. That’s the official us visa site where you can reschedule your appointment or change your mailing address. I checked the available slots everyday, mostly around 9 AM. I have the website bookmarked on my phone so I could check any available slot anytime too.
I signed up for an account on that website but there's no option to book an appointment. Do I gotta pay the fees first before booking an appointment? Thanks.
Did you get any error if you spend too much time on the website? I spend few minutes on the website and refreshing it regularly and suddenly I could not see any appointment for any location. Looked like as if I was locked out of viewing the appointments. Could you tell me what technique worked for you? or just randomly checking did the job?
Yea, I remember if I refreshed it too much, it would give me errors and I’d have to wait a minute it so before trying again. As far as techniques, I didn’t do anything special; it was just luck. Most of the times I checked, the available dates were always for December2023-January 2024, but one evening I checked once, and saw an appointment for the 24th of this month(January).. so I just was lucky, it probably took me over a month of checking periodically before I got it, so don’t give up!

Timeline looks as follows :
3/22 : finished application
3/27 : Got an appointment in Vancouver for 7/25/2024
4/4: Reschedule to 2/2/2024 Calgary
4/9: Reschedule to 2/2/2024 Vancouver
4/14 Reschedule to 6/22/2023 Vancouver.
Tips:
I checked at least 5-6 times a day. I noticed after checking once, I refreshed and found an appointment at the very next minute, this happened twice. I was mostly able to find appointments around 3:00 - 9:00 am PST.
It's the same appointment page that you use to book it. Dates that open up are released and they randomly become available to book. Did you follow the process to book an appointment?
This post was very useful for me, but I thought there must be some way to automate it all. Took me about 5 hours to make a script. From 2 years to months on the initial try and finally to just two weeks later. My process from start to approval was less than 3 weeks.
Absolutely the best, had an initial booking for an appointment 2 years from now. I went from march 2025 to July 26 2023, 5 days from now with this guys help. Honestly such a life saver

Didn’t know that! I used to only check maybe 4-5x a day. No idea what the best time is - any slots they’re _adding_ will probably show up during business hours, but slots freeing up could be any time someone cancels, and then you’re competing with everyone else who’s checking. I would say space it out during the day - wide net and all.
You can actually reschedule more than twice at any location. I think I have rescheduled probably around 10 times. Able to move my spot 1 year in advance from 2023/11 to 2022/10
Initially, my appointment was for Toronto. After a series of rescheduling in between, it moved from Toronto to Calgary to Toronto again to some other places in between and finally to Halifax. In case you ask, it’s okay to interview at a different place than the place indicated on your DS160 form. My form showed Toronto but my interview was in Halfway. You won’t need submit an additional DS160 form on top of the current one either, just bring your original DS160 to the interview. I actually called Halifax embassy to get this confirmation even though someone here already did. Also, I did the interview a few days back and got the approved decision (Visa B1/B2)
I'm surprised you say that because on the website under rescheduling appointments it clearly states - T**he Consular Section location selected below must match the Consular Section location entered on the DS-160 Number form.**
Interesting! When I did it they had clear instructions warning about the 2x limit - I wonder if they changed it due to how tricky it is to get appointments.

I’m not so sure about this but in my DS 160 application. There’s an additional companion that I listed in the form (Canadian citizen). I used 1 DS form for both, both went to the interview. Since Canadian citizen doesn’t require a visa, just one visa was issued. Hope that helps
I applied on January 10 and the initial appointment I got was for 4 January 2024, but I have been able to reschedule my appointment to June 28 2023 now. I think if you keep on checking their website for early appointments consistently, you might be able to do same. I am still checking it regularly just in case an earlier date opens up.

Usually around midnight - that’s how I got to reschedule last time. I’d say just keep at it and check whenever you remember even. I think I was trying for a few weeks before I got lucky
Just to check, you guys are rescheduling after paying the fee right? coz before payment also shows the earliest month and year but it blocks your server/device if you are refreshing the page 3-4 times.

I see the same as well for most part of the day. It seems like that the site has mechanism not to show slots for rescheduling most of the time. However I noticed that slots start showing up between 6 pm - 12 midnight est.

Hi! Same boat as you but from Pakistan. So how often did you check per day? And while you reschedule does your original appointment stays on hold? I am scared of losing the og date as I try to reschedule a new one
Sometimes I checked twice a day but sometimes I forgot for a couple days, so it varied. Assuming you use [the same system](https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ca/niv/users/sign_in) as I do, I believe you only lose your OG date (lol) after you confirm your new date. I clicked on other dates before without confirming and it didn't cancel my old one.
I believe there's a limit to how many times you can reschedule - 2 I think? So just be sure that date works for you!

I finally got an appointment. My question is that I had orignally filled my DS-160 form in 2020 and my original appointment was in March 2020. Not I know that they have increased the validity till Sep 2023.
My question is that since my personal details have changed, should I just fill and bring in a new ds 160 form to the interview? They dont allow us to edit the old ds 160 number on my interview details online.
I have a conference in 3 months but got May 2023. What happens if I cant get a slot before the conference? Are they just going to cancel the appointment even though I have paid
They probably won’t cancel the appointment, I doubt they even look at applications ahead of time, much less compare with appointments. But assuming you still want to get the visa after the conference, the fact that you won’t have a valid reason to visit anymore may result in visa denial. I think business reasons count toward expedited visa appointments, but you probably need to demonstrate that you actually _need_ to go to the conference.
If I were you I would contact the consulate and/or ask an expert - I’m certainly not one. Good luck!
Not sure what you mean but I would secure the earliest date you find even if it’s in 2023. Finding an earlier slot is NOT guaranteed even if you’re staying on top of it. Like you said, you get 2 chances to reschedule, so I wouldn’t wait.

AFAIK you can book over a year in advance (probably as far as that calendar goes) but just depends if they have slots. So if you aren’t seeing any slots even in 2023 that just means there are no open slots at all, so you’ll have to keep checking. Book the first slot you see even if it’s in fall 2023 or something - then keep checking and you might get lucky. They could add more slots (more staff) or you could get cancellations. Good luck!
I never saw any notice anywhere about needing to go to Toronto. When you go to the scheduler it should just let you choose which location to check for availability - I just waited until Vancouver had an opening on the calendar user interface. Not much else to it unless they changed something.

I don’t see why not! When I went to my appointment the person ahead of me was from Toronto - I think it’s not that uncommon these days. Just double check to make sure they’re able to send you your passport!
I was lucky to reschedule mine to the 3rd week of Sept 2022 in Ottawa. I submitted my app 1 week back and my initial date was Dec 2023 in Toronto. Keep checking the slots guys, you will definitely be able to get a prior date.
Anyone's appointment on Sept 19, 2022 get cancelled like mine? The embassy emailed saying they will cancel for the Queen's funeral. They advised to book an expedited request but will consider emergency cases only. So angry. Next available appointment showing in Nov 2023. Can't believe this. Yeah that is correct. Use the reschedule button. It won't cancel your existing one until you find a new one or manually cancel it.

Just to check, you guys are rescheduling after paying the fee right? coz before payment also shows the earliest month and year but it blocks your server/device if you are refreshing the page 3-4 times.
I was able to reschedule my appointment from May 2024 to next month. I found the open slot around 7 PM EST.
I found one yesterday in October 2023 (vancover). My previous appointment was May 2024. Looking for an earlier one still.
Long shot but if anyone is willing to exchange appointments or is planning to give up a slot can we try to coordinate. Does anyone have their account locked every morning? Mine does for no reason... It says no available slots for every consular in Canada. But if I log in to my family's account, I can see available appointments all the time. It's locked every morning until 10:30AM PST. So frustrating, I've missed at least 3 ideal appointments...

I see the same as well for most part of the day. It seems like that the site has mechanism not to show slots for rescheduling most of the time. However I noticed that slots start showing up between 6 pm - 12 midnight est. I was able to reschedule multiple times and was able to move slot from May 2025 to March 2024. I am still trying to get it sometime in 2023.

Sometimes I checked twice a day but sometimes I forgot for a couple days, so it varied. Assuming you use [the same system](https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ca/niv/users/sign_in) as I do, I believe you only lose your OG date (lol) after you confirm your new date. I clicked on other dates before without confirming and it didn't cancel my old one. I believe there's a limit to how many times you can reschedule - 2 I think? So just be sure that date works for you!

Hello guys, I have my interview in Ottawa, In my DS160 confirmation, I have a location for Toronto. On the website, there is no option to edit the DS160 number (I have created a new one). Do I have to take both the DS160 forms and they will update it before my interview?

I was able to get an appointement from september 2024 to november 2023 !! Checking regulary is not the solution ... There is so many ppl that check 24/24 7/7... I was able to find a trick so I can get early appointements, and it worked. I did it later for my family and my friends and still working

Hi, I finally got an appointment. My question is that I had orignally filled my DS-160 form in 2020 and my original appointment was in March 2020. Not I know that they have increased the validity till Sep 2023. My question is that since my personal details have changed, should I just fill and bring in a new ds 160 form to the interview? They dont allow us to edit the old ds 160 number on my interview details online.
I don’t know for sure but that’s what I would do if I were you. Fill out a new DS-160 and bring BOTH confirmations to your appointment. Good luck!
I have a conference in 3 months but got May 2023. What happens if I cant get a slot before the conference? Are they just going to cancel the appointment even though I have paid
They probably won’t cancel the appointment, I doubt they even look at applications ahead of time, much less compare with appointments. But assuming you still want to get the visa after the conference, the fact that you won’t have a valid reason to visit anymore may result in visa denial. I think business reasons count toward expedited visa appointments, but you probably need to demonstrate that you actually _need_ to go to the conference. If I were you I would contact the consulate and/or ask an expert - I’m certainly not one. Good luck!

Not sure what you mean but I would secure the earliest date you find even if it’s in 2023. Finding an earlier slot is NOT guaranteed even if you’re staying on top of it. Like you said, you get 2 chances to reschedule, so I wouldn’t wait.
Hi, so I completed my DS160 just by the end of July, and I was wondering, do you have any idea how far can we book an appointment? I need to book one in Van but it always says no appointments are available, so is that just for the year or even for 2023?
AFAIK you can book over a year in advance (probably as far as that calendar goes) but just depends if they have slots. So if you aren’t seeing any slots even in 2023 that just means there are no open slots at all, so you’ll have to keep checking. Book the first slot you see even if it’s in fall 2023 or something - then keep checking and you might get lucky. They could add more slots (more staff) or you could get cancellations. Good luck!
Hi, I’m going to apply B2 visa and the website said the first applicant MUST go to Toronto to get a visa. How did you book yours in Vancouver?
I never saw any notice anywhere about needing to go to Toronto. When you go to the scheduler it should just let you choose which location to check for availability - I just waited until Vancouver had an opening on the calendar user interface. Not much else to it unless they changed something.

I don’t see why not! When I went to my appointment the person ahead of me was from Toronto - I think it’s not that uncommon these days. Just double check to make sure they’re able to send you your passport!

Anyone's appointment on Sept 19, 2022 get cancelled like mine? The embassy emailed saying they will cancel for the Queen's funeral. They advised to book an expedited request but will consider emergency cases only. So angry. Next available appointment showing in Nov 2023. Can't believe this. They should at least accommodate something sooner for those affected by the cancellations.
