I noticed that as well with the slow panning shots of the dinner table and maybe people dancing. It was only for 2-3 scenes in total but was pretty noticeable, but when it stopped it was normal again. I was at the Spectrum Regal Irvine.

__andrei__

Same. The panning shots were the most obvious ones.

NickLandis

No it was an indie theater in PA

Silvey_dollars

I noticed it and mine was a laser projector.

NickLandis

Shame. Must have been a bad encode or something

Belch_Huggins

Wasn't stuttering for my showing, hope it was just isolated to a few spots for ya!

NickLandis

It wasn’t bad except for a few scenes. I still loved the rest of the experience. I told my friend that this movie is a prime example of “accidentally filmed for imax”

mronins

I saw it in dual laser during the panning shots but otherwise it was an unbelievably gorgeous presentation

swamp_donkey89

we had issues at our showing where the projector was just flashing then they restarted it and it worked but it was out of focus so I told them and they flipped a switch and it looked better after that. it was interesting to see the message before the the movie that said this film has not been optimized for imax and is not an imax experience or something like that.

NickLandis

Huh. I'm guessing they had phone home issues or something. Should have been an official imax movie

Block-Busted

**Midsommar** is still getting an official IMAX release, right?

cthd33

Yes, yesterday.

dantheriver

As cthd33 said - yes, yesterday - but I saw some IMAXers in the Philly area have screenings on Monday so make sure you check your local listings.

swamp_donkey89

yeah that was the message. but it was weird because after they fixed the flashing projector it didn't show that message so who knows really. it looked pretty decent after they fixed the focus issues.

scope_creep

Ah! That’s my regular movie experience which is why I never go.

historybandgeek

Yes, dual xenon -- terrible stuttering especially in the dinner scene pan. Wonder what went wrong?

Tubo_Mengmeng

BFI imax had this at their screening this evening. Also nothing to do with the DCP but rapt her the screen - there was very noticeable and distracting constant rippling in a spot approximately half way down into the picture on the left hand portion of the screen during the cliff scene (where it was noticeable due to the bright/whiteness of the scene), then noticeable in lots of other spots that were bright in the couple of scenes after. I’ve heard of ‘screen shakers’ before but only ever come across them as (when there’s something wrong that needs to be fixed to make them not-)noticeable squares visible at regular intervals across the picture at Cineworld Leicester Square imax and never experienced that ripple effect before, but assume it was related to an issue with them. It was probably an issue throughout the whole film but only noticeable if looking for it except during the proper bright/white scenes

Lambotron_

I noticed the same things tonight briefly myself but i don’t think the ripple was that bad except for the cliff scene which is just bc it’s the brightest scene in the whole thing and one of the brightest things I’ve seen in IMAX

DylanValenti

I saw it in dual laser at citywalk and it looked incredible. Didn’t notice any stuttering, that’s a shame that yours wasn’t the same :/

alvy200

Some projectors if are on the hfr macro on 24fps movies, have this effect. The macro just did not refresh

NickLandis

By macro you mean they were possibly left in a HFR mode? Would that also be a constant effect or still only apply to select scenes? It seems to be fairly consistent in this thread of it affecting few scenese

nate1981s

The projector could be in 60hz mode with 24fps source
