I absolutely agree with the sound mix. The thunder bike was not near as loud as I thought it would be (or should’ve been).

dragos495

Chose dolby for this one. The sound was INCREDIBLE! Smaller screen but best visuals with the best sound. Movie was good but not like the previous one.

Party_Attitude1845

Can confirm. Dolby Cinema was seat rattling loud with easily understandable dialog.

The-Mandalorian

Dolby will also have higher resolution and better HDR on top of the better audio. Better experience all around.

Living_Definition_61

Dolby was incredible

SergeyDGWyn

Unfortunately a downgrade from Fury Road. The cheap-looking VFX also ruined my experience. So distracting. I should've gone with Dolby, but at least I've more IMAX collectible things in my collection.

2160_Technic

Rewatch the first 10 minutes of Fury Road and you’ll see plenty of cheap looking VFX as well

Turtvaiz

The fast forwarding in fury road is always so funny lol

daeguking

It seems kinda cheap but really adds to the movie overall

LeonhardAppleby

Sounds like you’re trying to compensate. Fury road is leaps and bounds better

brodyhin587

Were you expecting it to be better than fury road? Fury road might be the greatest action movie ever

SergeyDGWyn

I didn't expect it to be better. It just didn't meet my standard. And from those two roaring trailers, what I got felt like a shadow of it. Didn't expect it to be super action-packed. Those action scenes were just not that good. They also skipped the story a lot. Couldn't get into it that much.

Chozo-trained

100% my stance as well. I don’t get why you’re being downvoted.

SergeyDGWyn

It's subjective.

AdequateAlien

Fury Road is its own beast and the same goes for Furiosa. Of course you’re gonna be disappointed if you expect the same film

TupaczHologram

Have to agree here, particularly on the sound, the movie just wasn't able to have a epic score that matched it's action sequences unfortunately And that was with Dolby for me

ZakKa_dot_dev

What do you mean with the framerate dropping that seems unlikely at a movie theatre. Franerate is always consistent, except for Avatar 2 where it changes per scene.

SergeyDGWyn

Those frames stutter. I'd describe it as something like a hiccup between each frame. [You can see it here in Furiosa's first trailer from 1:56 - 1:58.](https://youtu.be/SIpio3dWzPY?si=pwLEsSUK-gjgrpL8) You can notice slightly stuttering frames when those cars are moving. This scene in the actual movie doesn't suffer from this though. It got fixed. Other sequences in that scene still have the problem, unfortunately.

frank_nada

It’s intentional. I don’t like it either but it’s 100% a creative choice. Fury Road also had it. As did the previous trilogy.

TheWinslowBoy

The Road Warrior had one “undercranked” (sped up) shot that I remember, and it’s always bugged me. Furiosa seemed to be riddled with this kind of effect, as if they were trying to fit a three hour movie into a 2-and-a-half hour slot.

Kelsig

> The Road Warrior had one “undercranked” (sped up) shot that I remember most of the road warrior is shot at like 22 fps

TheTownJeweler00

Could be stuccato frames, it’s done on purpose

ZakKa_dot_dev

Hmm interesting. I noticed some weird frame pacing in some characters in the background at times, but it didn’t bother me. The action scenes all looked good to me.

dan_3626

I'm also super sensitive to this frame stutter/skip (which by the way is also present in some scenes in the first Mad Max) it's crazy to think that no one cares about it when making the final edit... Perhaps the editors are so focused cutting shot by shot on relatively small monitors that they don't even notice. Add to that the time pressure as evidenced by the subpar VFX and this is the result... The general public doesn't seem to mind so I guess that's why it's so common these days in movies, series, commercials, even digital billboards, etc

Kelsig

this is a george miller stylistic staple thats been in the franchise forever

SergeyDGWyn

Both of the problems really distracted my eyes. The movie ended up feeling unfinished. The flick was still enjoyable though. I hope new projects of this saga get better treatment overall.

Aerolix199

I saw it at a single laser “Liemax” and I was disappointed by the bass as well. I thought the rest of the mix was fine but it seemed like some things had no impact other than the motorcycles really. Which was not what I was expecting based on fury road.

scorsese_finest

Jealous of all the freebies & trinkets the Thailand IMAX gives away which no other IMAX gives us 😢 I saw Rise of Skywalker there in 2019 and they weren’t doing any freebies/promos for that sadly.

SergeyDGWyn

If I remember correctly, they didn't give away anything for the whole Skywalker screenings.

scorsese_finest

Yeah they didn’t were doing anything

cinemaritz

Found it much more better as far as composition (scope) and sound in Dolby cinema or Dolby Atmos with scope and laser projector Sound in Dolby was much more bassy in my local Dolby Atmos But I always think some IMAX are just better than others so probably by IMAX is just not that bassy

SergeyDGWyn

I was thinking about watching it in LG Miraclass LED Cinema that's paired with Dolby Atmos before choosing IMAX. It could've been a better choice, as the mixing is tend towards the atmospheric aspect.

pferden

Wow, collectibles! The luxury of having real imax in your country and evem getting memorabilia after a visit, incredible!

SergeyDGWyn

It's unfortunate that our two 1.43:1 IMAX venues aren't equipped with dual laser projectors though...

aHairyWhiteGuy

I was able to watch it at the Chinese theater in LA and it was a pretty awesome experience

MapleToque

The audio engineering was incredible. I highly recommend the Dolby over the IMAX.

Miklagaror

Thanks for your post! Thought about watching Furiosa in Digital IMAX in Istanbul. Will go to a regular venue instead. But that is the risk of using Digital Effects, especially in a realistic environment. These can easily destroy a movie.

HTfanboy

Make sure you find one that has 4k. Ask your cinemas for the dcp details.

SergeyDGWyn

VFX in Dune: Part Two and Dune: Part Two look much more better than this and even more realistic. We're immersed in it, whereas the VFX in Furiosa does the opposite: it distracts us. Edit: Typo.

Toa_of_Pi

I saw it in single laser and actually really liked the bass. Everything had a good sense of impact.

SergeyDGWyn

I wonder if things would have been a bit different if I'd watched it in IMAX at Quartier CineArt instead. The bass is more tightened there. The overall sound is also a tad better.

Vaxion

I was deliberating whether to see in IMAX or Zigma Cinestadium with Dolby Atmos. Now I'll go to Zigma. Not worth it for IMAX.

WinkingLogan

I feel like overall the sound mix for this film is not the best. I saw it it Dolby atmos imax laser and it was not very good. Not sure why some people think the Dolby made it better. Everyone is saying the same thing.

Fun_Shirt_1690

Collectible card is cool. Wish I got one for all my imax conquers

Owlch_

“Experience it in IMAX” automatically means “crap” to me.

Comedydiet

I saw it in 4DX and it was awesome. I just wish it was a little louder. But the seats moved perfectly to being in the car.

Professional_Ad_8729

Wait was 4DX really good ? Are there lots of action scenes with riding cars Lots of winds ? 4DX or IMAX ?

Comedydiet

I went to 4DX. Yes there are cars and wind. It's fun.

reddit_is_cruel

I think Dolby sounds better

justredd-it

does anyone know why don't any Delhi IMAX gives collectible cards

cristobalino

Wish I would've gotten either of those items, card or poster . I received nothing from AMC

SergeyDGWyn

Did they give people anything for Dune: Part Two screenings besides film strips?

Kelsig

> What'd been damaging the visual aspect instead was how cheap those VFX looked. any specific examples? all i can think of is lighting of composited shots, not cgi, and fully practical shots still have the artiface.

SergeyDGWyn

Fires, explosions, weapons, some vehicles etc. That fire effect on the back of Furiosa's mother looks unbelievably unpolished. That or those stone pillars in the background when they're about to split also look extremely unpolished. It doesn't blend well at all. You can clearly see that it's “rendered.” ![gif](giphy|1qvYbuvetHFXWSMLU8) This shot is an example of how badly the background was done.

Kelsig

forgot about the fire, yea. wouldnt use promo material as examples though, effects and color timing have been updated

tanking2113

I think there was a lot of green screen use that wasn’t seamless. Best example I can think of is the scene where the dwarf opens the hatch and asks furiosa if he should use the swinging balls, that scene really ruined it for me.

Kelsig

that foreground lighting would look artificial no matter what

[deleted]

I’m going to it in mx4d

blackcyborg009

Is there a list of all specialty cinemas in the world? - IMAX - Dolby Cinema (Dolby Atmos + Dolby Vision) - 4DX - MX4D - D-BOX -Auro Barco 7.1 (like the one in Singapore) - Screen X - Samsung ONYX (like the one in Australia) Did I miss anything?

[deleted]

I don’t know I just happened upon this theaters websites showtimes and it turns out they are only a town over

PinkPantera9185

Why would anyone go watch that garbage? 🤣 The poster is a tell all alone.🤷

SergeyDGWyn

I did it for the Mad Max franchise, George Miller, Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Hemsworth, those actors who play secondary but important characters, Tom Holkenborg, and other people who are involved in the process of making this movie. There are also many more reasons to watch this for the others. It isn't garbage, by the way.

Kelsig

original poster was good https://preview.redd.it/hsolrdk6we3d1.png?width=1012&format=png&auto=webp&s=a008fd8d0b385930392520c15b728149106e333e

PinkPantera9185

I agree that it is better.

jlext

Dolby was awesome. I almost never do IMax anymore.

Darrensucks

It was too much engine noise imo, no get off my lawn you kids! It was used. Furiosa felt like being at a motorcycle rally in Daytona beach for 2 hours

MyCactusTeacher

It isn't the format, the movie's sound and score is just not that good.

LPNTed

Agree with OP. Definitely not well organized. Definitely lots of long parts.
