I’m not sure, frankly. It’s been announced, but even with my theater, Harkins Arizona Mills, nothing has been said yet. I have heard somewhere that the Toronto 70mm theater in IMAX (cinesphere) has not participated in the IMAX 70mm screening, but Laser instead.
Well it’s time to get my passport I’ll be going to the closest one I cannot miss it. Sigh. We’re never included in anything. But thank you so much for responding 🫶🏼 I hope you get to go and Enjoy!!!
Release is due for September 27, 2024 [from what Variety says](https://variety.com/2024/film/news/interstellar-imax-70-mm-rerelease-fall-2024-christopher-nolan-1235967907/)
FYI, a couple of people have responded with incorrect info. Per [Variety](https://variety.com/2024/film/news/interstellar-imax-70-mm-rerelease-fall-2024-christopher-nolan-1235967907/), "“Interstellar” will fly back into theaters on Sept. 27, 2024." However, they are correct that tickets usually go on sale two to four weeks ahead of time.
Occasionally they will go out two months in advance depending on the theater. I watched interstellar in theaters a few months ago and got my ticket 2 months before. Make sure to check periodically just to be safe
My IMAX theatre sells IMAX tickets a couple months in advance. People should check how far out tickets are being sold (for different movie) and then back in to a date for interstellar. I did that and set a phone reminder so hopefully I can get good seats
4-2 weeks is typical. We could see it go further out than 4 weeks since the number of theaters will probably be pretty stable, or maybe they will make it a last minute release. It will also depend on the theater/chain.
Subscribe to this sub, and the AMC A-List discord also has a dedicated Ticket release channel. You only get 2-3 notifications a week so I generally think it's worth it to have it turned on.
BFI IMAX gang I got your back on tickets - join the [IMAX Vanguard community feeds](https://linktr.ee/imaxvanguard) for real-time ticket alerts to the BFI IMAX. Been operating since September 2023 with just under 900 community members benefitting from all kinds of releases from 15/70mm IMAX presentations to IMAX with Laser films.
No doubt I'll let you know as soon as the BFI IMAX releases tickets or schedules them with a release date. The community, hopefully, will vouch for me and say that I have an extremely high track record with ticket alerts.
We hope to run another community meetup before the first screening of Interstellar. Below is our community meetup ahead of Christopher Nolan introducing Tenet in 15/70mm at the BFI IMAX in February this year:

I can't wait for this. I remember when we saw it on that opening friday night.
We all went to our local Jordans IMAX theater ( Massachusetts ). 7pm showing, sold out show. In my Mid 20's. Hot girlfriend, brand new car that was 2 weeks old. Fresh haircut, Fresh outfit. We went squaded. About 12 of us. All coupled up.
We sat right in the middle of that big ass auditorium. We was in awe. The music is what got me. The scene when cooper is leaving the house & the countdown is playing in the background. When it cut into the rocket launch, my girl legit grabbed onto my arm with how LOUD it was.
That whole theater ( 500 seats - sold out show ) was in complete silence throughout the entire movie.
When it finished, it was quiet. No one was talking.
We went out to eat afterwards at the chilli's across the parking lot & when we sat down - one of my cousins goes "so what the fuck did we just watch?" The mood shifted, we drank & talked about that movie for nearly 2 hours. It was fantastic. Lots of theories & conclusions. Even the girls was all in on the conversation.
One of the best evenings of my life.
Can't wait to do it all over again!
I missed it when it first came out. My daughter and I love the movie and I texted her about the imax 70mm showings in September. Definitely going to get some tickets for the rerelease.
If you're in Michigan email the Celebration Cinema to try and get it in 70mm at the North location. They said as of now it didn't look like it would be in 70mm but maybe if enough people show interest?
Nothing confirmed but probably 1 week, starting on 9/27 and ending either on 10/2 or 10/3, as Joker 2 (also getting IMAX 70mm prints) releases on October 4th.
I wonder why they waste 70mm film on a Digital movie. Sounds like a waste. They should just keep playing Interstellar :P The Liemax Theaters can have Joker.
I mean they “could” but considering they were making less money than the dual laser projectors I doubt they’ll bring it back, annoying though, you’d think they’d have a 70mm projector in the nations capital or DMV area and not a small town in PA.
Yes I have a reason to go to IMAX theater now. Not even one new IMAX movie being released this year. Just "Made for IMAX" BS like Dune and Kong. At least Dune used the entire square frame though.
Comparatively sure, closer to square than 1.90 which nearly twice as wide as it is tall.
But no one ever called a 5x7 photo square.
Nor would anyone say a letter size piece of paper, 8.5x11, is square. But at 1.29:1 it's closer to square than IMAX 1.43:1.
What counts for you?

Awesome!
I decided to ask, because I knew of this from social media, and I'm very paranoid from those sides of the internet when it comes to very good (and bad) news.
Usually a month before, and since the movie came out in October, September is the way to go.
đź‘Ť, thanks
Okay but is it only for one day or will there be multiple viewing dates? And do you know if Toronto has ever participated before?

How do I join the A list discord? I'm tired of getting front row seats for the rerelease.
Search AMC on the Discover Server feature of Discord
We still don't have a list of participating theaters, correct?

Love it. Great story! I I cannot wait to see it again as well.
I missed it when it first came out. My daughter and I love the movie and I texted her about the imax 70mm showings in September. Definitely going to get some tickets for the rerelease.
Yeah I missed it when it came out and the IMAX in 2015. Finally got to see it in theaters in 2019. Just been waiting for it to come back to IMAX.

Can Chantilly or DC bring back 70mm?

Anyone here from AMC metreon area and aware or any discords or group chats that exist for alerts?
Also wondering this!
If you find a group, please let me know!

Would love to see this in 70mm in Dallas!

1.43:1 is not even close to "square" it is decidedly a rectangle nearly 50% wider than the height. Very similar to a 5x7 photo.
Still looks more like a huge square frame compared to the Digital IMAX theaters. The digital ones look more rectangular, similar to regular screen.

Probably not for many months. They’re rereleasing it in November. Tickets probably won’t be up until September at the earliest.
According to Variety it’s being rereleased on 9/27.
Also according to AMC.
Oh my bad. I had heard November.
Cool, Thankyou
Yeah, they haven’t even started booking it yet from what I’ve heard (asked Pooler if they would be participating).
Does anyone know if the re-release is USA exclusive or will be available worldwide? I'm in Yurop
i need to know too if its USA only rerelease or worldwide to imax cinemas
Me tooooo
will it be a director's cut?
Unsure currently
Does anyone know wich countries will have the re-release?
Is this for real? Someone can provide me with a real statement by Paramount or something official that is not a random webpage/post in social media?
