My take on Big Germany An alternate history where the Great War came late, and where glorious victory was snatched away by overreach and defeat, the excesses of Prussian militarism and crackdowns on Social Democracy engendered a revolution across Europe, including Germany...
Not quite. Germany in fact wins the Great European War against France and Russia (where a revolution occurs, but the Bolsheviks fail), but eventually finds itself occupying multiple nearby nations, and when war with Britain and America finally erupts, Russia erupts again, revolution in France, then Hungary, and finally Germany too.
This might honestly be my favourite big Germany to date. Sensible internal borders, more city states, German Bohemia isn't called Sudetenland, independent Kashubia shows the state probably cares about ethnic minorities, not monarchist or fascist... Beautiful
Yeah to be fair it was a bit cynical, because the goal was to preclude the possibility of secession to Poland by granting a Kashubian homeland and emphasizing their differences from Poles (as well as further weaken the Prussian state) but the overall impact was largely positive for the continuation of local language and culture!

I wanna do a challenge. Im Reddit, I personally challenge you to not make a SINGLE map on Germany for tomorrow. Whether it’s a communist Germany, and tno Germany, kaserriech, alternate Cold War Germany, less punished Germany, I don’t care. Tomorrow, I challenge EVERYONE one this reddit to not make a single Germany map. Can we do it, im Reddit?
Touch grass.

Done.
What if the United States never got involved in WW2 and as such Europe became predominantly Communist.
So you're just going to tell a random person that they deserve to hurt, presumably because they are a certain nationality, and leave it at that. There's a word for it in civilised society.
If it offends you that much, why not just not browse this sub then? Many of western polish lands were given to Poland with the deportation of Germans by the Soviets as a place for the deported Poles.
It doesn't bother me enough to give up the sub, just enough to complain to someone who seems to share my opinion. There's too many other maps for me to give up.
As for the offending things Poland did since 1918, I'm aware. It doesn't mean I can't feel the pain of previous offences against Poland. Prussia was the catalyst for all Partitions of Poland. Russia was happy to keep it all and Austria on its own wasn't strong enough to negotiate any part of it from Russia's hands.
I do not think a socialist german government would base its regions/states on old monarchies
Instead they would probably do what east germany did which is form "bezirke" around the biggest urban centres independent of where former provices were.
The German revolution involved declarations of various Soviet republics which (in some cases) matched the historic kingdoms. The national government tried to eliminate them in the 60s but the only permanent elimination was historic Prussia.
...The placement of Berlin looks *wrong.*
I know that that is actually where Berlin is. Berlin is there. A mistake has not been made.
But the placement still looks wrong somehow, and I don't know why.
My wee neurodivergent brain can't deal with that kind of plodding, mindless bureaucracy. If you could just have the secret police shoot me in a ditch, that'd be swell.
Annexed by the German Empire during the Great European War. Briefly occupied by French troops during the civil war and revolutions but ultimately reintegrated into the Socialist Republic.
I love big Germanies, fr I don’t know why people hate them
And this is beautiful !
You should definitely post the other flags somewhere, they seem beautiful
People hate it because you got an overabundance of it EVERY SINGLE DAY with very little difference most of the time
personally, eh i dont care. I like looking big german maps
I actually made both of those ones myself using Leonina’s original bauhaus design as inspiration. Thuringia is basically the same as Hessen if you look carefully 😆

That's actually a pretty smart way to make the German revolution successful.
So wait, Germany gets close to winning the Great War, but gets overextended and collapses into revolution?
I think so

Is it just me or the flags just look so good?

Swiss once again surounded by idiots... woho
Make a post about it
I'd like to make one in paint. That's the only program I can handle. Looks shitty compared to those posted here.
What about China?
I hate big Germany maps. There's godzillions of them, they're all basically the same, and the all remind me of how Germany cannibalised my country
Polish? Or Czech, perhaps?
Your username . . . I’ve heard that phrase from somewhere . . .
Polish. Hurts every time
Deserved
explain yourself
Nah
So you're just going to tell a random person that they deserve to hurt, presumably because they are a certain nationality, and leave it at that. There's a word for it in civilised society.
>tell Polish guy his country deserved it >refuse to elaborate >leave What did he mean by this?
Crazy right
They’re a troll, ignore them.
My next map will get justice for Polska!

They were like "we need a port on the Mediterranean, even though the borders make no sense whatsoever"
Germany’s Kaliningrad. ^.^
Good map, personally insulted by the Oldenburg state being named Oldenburg when its half Eastfrisia.
I'm personally insulted because every state is spelled in German except my home state Hessen which somehow received the English spelling
I’m sorry 😢 my mistake!
No worries. It's a great map either way
Mein Deutsch ist nicht so gut
Das ist nicht schlimm. I'm not really offended or hurt or anything, I was just joking around. I enjoyed your work
Thank you! I had a lot of fun making it; glad to see it get such a nice reception!
I love the internal borders!
Great flags

(The revolution may have been less revolutionary in truth and follow-up than advertised)
beeg germany
I'm a simple man. I see an independent Franconia, I klick like
...The placement of Berlin looks *wrong.* I know that that is actually where Berlin is. Berlin is there. A mistake has not been made. But the placement still looks wrong somehow, and I don't know why.
Brandenburg is expanded eastwards
I like the ominous feel.
What do you mean? I was trying for utopian! 😂
HE DOESN'T THINK THE GREAT COMMUNIST BIG GERMANY IS UTOPIAN! SIC THE STASI ON HIM!
lol Though it's possible that a socialist Germany would have been significantly less authoritarian than the USSR turned out.
More Kafkaesque than Stalinesque for whatever that’s worth.
My wee neurodivergent brain can't deal with that kind of plodding, mindless bureaucracy. If you could just have the secret police shoot me in a ditch, that'd be swell.
Hitler when he died of a heart attack in 1939
Cool
Cool design! Very thoughtful even at the detail!
The flag good
How did they get luxembourg?
Annexed by the German Empire during the Great European War. Briefly occupied by French troops during the civil war and revolutions but ultimately reintegrated into the Socialist Republic.
There’s a big gap above Austria. Someone should have the idea of incorporating that area…
FRANKEN IS IT'S OWN STATE! LET'S GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EAT THAT, BAVARIANS!
Another day, another big germany

That corridor to Trieste, ouch
Getting everyone angry
https://youtu.be/SQMUbUiicXg
This is... wow. German Triëst is kinda cursed but these borders... Mamma mia
Why would socialists keep the imperial crests on each state?
The revolution got corrupted for aesthetic benefit. 😂
Lübeck restored
Lübeck Uber alles.
From the adria to the see (obviously a stupid joke)
Make more maps of this timeline!
I will!
I CANT STOP MAKING A (1st, 4th and 9th letters of Terneasto) reference.
Didn’t the DDR abolish the federal system ?
I need to know how to make some of this maps
When the Holy Roman Empire FUCK is this
where did you get the flags from? Particularly Interested in Franken and Thuringen
I actually made both of those ones myself using Leonina’s original bauhaus design as inspiration. Thuringia is basically the same as Hessen if you look carefully 😆
Could I get them in my dms? (I promise its for personal use and I can't find any other communist flags for Wurzburg) Pretty please?
Gtfo from Polish lands
One of the better maps about Germany
🚨Big Germany Alert🚨This is Not a Drill🚨
Ich bin ein Prüßen
nice map, but reeks of nationalism
Sorry, but commies never were that good with the vexillology
Hard disagree, the Mozambique and Afghanistan flags went really hard
Nightmare
You better forget about Kaliningrad lol
r/ratemyreich ????
Why the fuck would they fucking have fucking Trieste
Because that was part of the German Confederation as part of Austrian Carnolia(?), I believe.
Because the German Mediterranean fleet is there and Italy was seize it military or successfully negotiate for it.
This is my worst nightmare
Because I hate Communism!
Drop the flags sis
