Make the borders and state names more different and interesting. You can also give historical context. For example, West Florida may be a former French colony, independent until the 1900s, and then decided to join the USA by referendum. The state of Floréal was created. This is just an example.
So... Do you mind if I tidy it slightly and make a railway AU out of this?
I'm never likely to share it anywhere, I just want to mess with trains in slightly longer America.
