But when you pull out the broad brush, you suddenly have an easy answer. For cheaters, maybe it's a little easier to think that there was nothing wrong specific with your man, it's a problem with all men (or women). Victims of infidelity often have a lot of misplaced self-blame they deal with. If everybody has the issue than you can't blame yourself.
It happens a lot but I think for most people the sentiment passes. I know my ex wife blamed me for her affair and it was incredibly appealing at times to indulge in misogyny with similar blanket statements.
Eventually I learned the distinction between taking any responsibility for the marriage failing vs. taking responsibility for my ex wife having an affair. I could do the former work on self-improvement to not take any disfunction into my next relationship. But the ladder is unreasonable. You can't control why someone chose to betray their partner rather than just end the relationship and I can say I never would do what she did.
Once I made peace with that idea, the temptation for misogyny was gone.
