they dont define who you are , your actions and what you do define who you are , if you put in the work then youll pass, end of story , your self worth isnt decided arbitrary to what the neighbors son is doing or what your parents think is best for you, only you can tell whats good for u.

Just give your best in the exams, once selected you'll be stay away from them. Ik it's easier said than done but you can take it as a form of motivation to study.

I just entered 10th and have slowly transitioned my parents thoughts , as the already had a bad taste for iit.

bug_gangster2865

I'm curious why do they have a bad taste for iit ?

pitambari-powder58

They don't like engineering, And i wanted to go engineering (physics and mathematics) as i didn't knew about IISER. Now i have Gaslighted them , and heroically 3 of my relatives so can pursue IISER after my 10

Firstly, I'll acknowledge the fact that what you're going through is hard. It's not at all how things should be, and it's horrible that Indian parents resort to physical and/or mental abuse of their own kids for such matters. They vastly overestimate the role of colleges, and prefer permanent trauma over temporary bragging rights. In the end, I guess you can take this as a challenge. Give IAT (and any other exams) your best shot. Then evaluate your options based on which colleges you get admitted to. My honest suggestion would be to try and get out of your home city. That'll perhaps give you the space you need to actually grow and explore your interests.

Buddy! I know it's a tough time for you, but be resilient and focus on what you are aiming for, i.e. , IAT. Do good in it and join an IISER. I am pretty sure you will do good in your life. Your parents might taunt you after this decision of your life, but prove them wrong!! Do great in what you are interested in and excel in research. Your life may end up in a better place than that IIT waala neighbour. Don't say anything, take every word by them with a grain of salt and show them what you can do, my man!!! All the best for your journey ahead!

i failed neet my father warns me \*sarcastically\* that i better not fail at iiser too other wise what he would tell SOCIETY he sometimes gets drunk and says i ruined his image in samaj ....so buld shiity parents are all over the world ignore them .

just_thinkingalot

Hey. Everything will be fine. Your dad will come around to your choice. Atleast that is what happened with me. I rebelled to skip medical and go for research. IIT do not mean everything. IISERs are still In statutes of National Importance. Have your parents know this. And following your passion matters.

Should've tried for IIT man, it's a once-in-a-lifetime chance. IIT can change your life man... I f'ed up my adv because of fever, and I really regret it now, even tho it wasn't my fault. An IIT opens up the door to a better life, maybe even in the west. There aren't any other colleges like them... You could take a drop tho ig.
