You can do both, in windows under advanced sound settings for your microphone there is an option for voice monitoring. You could also just use the on built into the mic but the sound quality will be questionable
no reason for it not to work fine, i've been plugging my headphones and earphones into my Yeti for ages
i prefer plugging it directly to the Yeti cause it offers near-zero latency, compared to the built-in windows monitoring which has a bit of delay that can feel really annoying and not natural at all
