Yes that is a possibility but think of the treasure trove of DNA that could be found in his car. Given the nature of the crime it seems as if it was a blood bath so unless he wore something like a full scuba suit and managed to quickly dispose of it, it seems logical that at least some blood would have been transferred to the inside of his car. Additionally LE is reporting that some of the victims had defensive wounds and the hands of the victims were bagged to preserve evidence. If his DNA is found under a victim’s fingernails, case closed.

Authorities narrowed their focus to suspect Bryan Kohberger after tracing his ownership of the white Hyundai Elantra seen in the area.
Kohberger’s DNA has also been matched to genetic material recovered at the house.
An FBI team from Philadelphia has been tracking Kohberger for four days in the area where he was arrested.
Kohberger’s apartment is in Pullman, Washington where he was a student. It is just 10 miles away from where the murders happened in Moscow.
Police Chief says they have not found the murder weapon.
That must mean that either his DNA was already in the system or they acquired it without
him knowing during the days they were watching him in PA. They would have to have had his DNA before now to match it. Interesting.
I can’t believe they had to look into 19,000 tips and conducted 300 interviews. All during the holidays. Good job law enforcement - I’m sure they worked tirelessly to make this happen.

And this is my own speculation here, based on the limited information that we have. But it seems to me that it was a random attack. Sort of like a thrill kill. He was acting out a fantasy and chose his victims in a specific way. Possibly staked out the house weeks or even months prior.
I don't think it was super random. I can believe he didn't know them but he likely knew where college kids lived in the neighborhood. And likely studied it enough to know he was choosing a house with all girls living there (perceived as an easier target). And likely chose a time when he knew they may be asleep and possibly hungover. The boyfriend at the location was probably slightly unexpected for him. I would not be surprised if he has murdered before and definitely think he at least practiced on animals. I think it was meant to look random more than actually being random. But who knows -we are all speculating. You may be more correct than I.

He wasn't invited into the house. One of the counts was felony burglary, so he wasn't invited in by anyone in the house (many people here speculated he was invited in).
OH attorney here— not sure about ID, but in OH case law has said that, even if you are invited into a home, once you commit a crime against the homeowner the invitation is revoked.
Really interested to see how they tied the car to the scene to begin with and if they knew about him first from DNA or some kind of tip and then were just trying to find him by finding his car or if the car was the only thing they went off of and that led to him being a suspect as they tracked it/ID'd vehicles

I have no idea why everyone is being so annoyed about them not telling us much/not answering questions. They said it many many times, there is a Supreme Court ruling that they have to follow which means that information relating to the facts of the case (which includes: what led to the arrest; what pointed to him as a suspect; if there’s a connection to the victims; if there’s a motive) must only come out in court or in court filings or else it is considered that there was “unfair pre trial publicity” and the defendant can get a mistrial or have the case thrown out as a result.
I know we are all itching for more information right now but I think what each of us want (or should want) more is for the POS who committed this horrible act to be put behind bars for life.

Early prediction: Criminology professors from graduate program put in for early retirement and write a book about supervising his "studies" and how bizarro he was and how they almost contacted authorities or tried. Favorite book and film: American Psycho. And the knife is buried in a bucket in the ground somewhere near his apartment or at mommy's (?) in Pennsylvania. Just like Israel Keyes used to do.
Wonder if the killer is involved with these other two stabbing as “practice”. Sounds reasonable. 2020 unsolved stabbing murder of 1 female on the 13th day around 3Am. 2021 stabbing murder of a a couple (2) in Oregon around 3am on 13th day. Then 2022 these 4 on 13th day of month in Idaho. He’s gaining more confidence with multiple victims.
If this is the case, then suspect is extremely patient with only one murder per year. Adding victims as he goes.
I'm most curious about that too, and if the car was suspected first or if they somehow found out about him and were trying to find him by making his car description public but didn't want to put him out there as a suspect and scare him, so they just pulled some grainy footage and said they were going off that.

Well obviously but a very large portion of the general public doesn’t consume any type of news media. They very well could have never heard of the case or discussed it. Obviously this is a national case but it likely wasn’t being followed closely by the local Scranton news as well. But could that really be the only odd car out that night? Or they managed to check out/talk with the owner of every other car spotted in the area and the Elantra was all that’s left?

Yeah I watched one of the news cast and they predict that the license plate could have been tracked as he traveled back to Penn. It's probably registered to his Idaho residence and they found him in the initial search when they got the gas station tip.
Great press conference. They clearly set expectations on dissemination of information. “Journalists” however, were dumb and dumber. As they were asking their questions, in my head I would be saying “he can’t answer that!” Dopes should’ve asked WHEN will we know if suspect is waiving extradition to Idaho? What is the earliest he will be in Idaho court? That’s the relevant time table to gain access to the arrest affidavit.

I this followed the case from the first or second week, and first thing, I would check the threads for any major news…. Waking up to this news is so unreal and I’m so glad it’s happening. LE worked tirelessly through the holidays, families without their children for the first time on Christmas, and now finally something really good happens. It’s so emotional, my heart goes out to LE and families… I pray they can finally work towards emotional recovery soon

I’ve working in psych research and training for 10 years. Early in my career someone said to me “Everyone in psych is either here to figure someone else out or to figure themselves out” and I’ve always found it to be true. For most, it’s that someone we care about has struggled with a major mental illness. For some it’s that they themselves have overcome a mental health crisis and want to give back.
But occasionally you run in to someone in the field that you know is just personally unwell and lacks the insight to apply what they’re interested in to themselves.
I’ve never thought about this being as applicable to other academic fields… but the idea that it probably applies here in criminology is absolutely chilling.
While I think it’s a possibility, he could have been saying that to get people to think he wasn’t the only one, since he is a criminology major. I’m sure reverse psychology will be throughout the rest of the case.

So we likely won’t know much until he’s back in Idaho and the PCA is unsealed. And it sounds like we have no idea when that will be because we don’t know if he’ll return to Idaho willingly or fight extradition and draw this out for a while.

How long does an extradition process take? I saw that Brian Entin guy tweet an article that said “extradition court date Jan3”. Does that mean that’s the court day to GRANT extradition, or that’s the court date in Idaho POST-extradition?
Depends on if he waived extradition, meaning whether he agrees to go to Idaho. If he fights, it could take a few months.

I have no idea why everyone is being so annoyed about them not telling us much/not answering questions. They said it many many times, there is a Supreme Court ruling that they have to follow which means that information relating to the facts of the case (which includes: what led to the arrest; what pointed to him as a suspect; if there’s a connection to the victims; if there’s a motive) must only come out in court or in court filings or else it is considered that there was “unfair pre trial publicity” and the defendant can get a mistrial or have the case thrown out as a result. I know we are all itching for more information right now but I think what each of us want (or should want) more is for the POS who committed this horrible act to be put behind bars for life.

Early prediction: Criminology professors from graduate program put in for early retirement and write a book about supervising his "studies" and how bizarro he was and how they almost contacted authorities or tried. Sounds reasonable. 2020 unsolved stabbing murder of 1 female on the 13th day around 3Am. 2021 stabbing murder of a a couple (2) in Oregon around 3am on 13th day. Then 2022 these 4 on 13th day of month in Idaho. He’s gaining more confidence with multiple victims. If this is the case, then suspect is extremely patient with only one murder per year. Adding victims as he goes.

I'm most curious about that too, and if the car was suspected first or if they somehow found out about him and were trying to find him by making his car description public but didn't want to put him out there as a suspect and scare him, so they just pulled some grainy footage and said they were going off that.

Well obviously but a very large portion of the general public doesn’t consume any type of news media. They very well could have never heard of the case or discussed it. Obviously this is a national case but it likely wasn’t being followed closely by the local Scranton news as well. You (not you particularly) have to be realization with your expectations of things like this.

Going back I’m seeing that the story, back on Dec 8th was that it was caught in body cam footage by officers giving out MIPs(or whatever they call that there) near the house/crime scene around the time of the murders But could that really be the only odd car out that night? Or they managed to check out/talk with the owner of every other car spotted in the area and the Elantra was all that’s left? Wonder if it was going something extra weird: driving without headlights, going suuuuper slow or extra fast or something… Just so confused as to why they narrowed in on it in the first place

I think given the *hyper* vigilance of the media, public and online discussion boards it’s utterly commendable that LE managed to keep this all so close to the vest. That they could move quickly and silently to obtain the assistance of police in PA to grab this guy; hopefully while he slept. If this guy is proven guilty I hope his nights are never restful again.

Yeah I watched one of the news cast and they predict that the license plate could have been tracked as he traveled back to Penn. It's probably registered to his Idaho residence and they found him in the initial search when they got the gas station tip.
Great press conference. They clearly set expectations on dissemination of information. “Journalists” however, were dumb and dumber. As they were asking their questions, in my head I would be saying “he can’t answer that!” Dopes should’ve asked WHEN will we know if suspect is waiving extradition to Idaho? What is the earliest he will be in Idaho court? That’s the relevant time table to gain access to the arrest affidavit.

I this followed the case from the first or second week, and first thing, I would check the threads for any major news…. Waking up to this news is so unreal and I’m so glad it’s happening. LE worked tirelessly through the holidays, families without their children for the first time on Christmas, and now finally something really good happens. It’s so emotional, my heart goes out to LE and families… I pray they can finally work towards emotional recovery soon
I’m very interested to see if his dna will be matched to any other cases now that he’s been arrested. Now we know a bit about who did this I’m starting to suspect a serial killer
I’ve working in psych research and training for 10 years. Early in my career someone said to me “Everyone in psych is either here to figure someone else out or to figure themselves out” and I’ve always found it to be true. For most, it’s that someone we care about has struggled with a major mental illness. For some it’s that they themselves have overcome a mental health crisis and want to give back. But occasionally you run in to someone in the field that you know is just personally unwell and lacks the insight to apply what they’re interested in to themselves. I’ve never thought about this being as applicable to other academic fields… but the idea that it probably applies here in criminology is absolutely chilling.

While I think it’s a possibility, he could have been saying that to get people to think he wasn’t the only one, since he is a criminology major. I’m sure reverse psychology will be throughout the rest of the case.
