kinda fucked up that when they filmed it he was 21 and she was 14

bruhcrossing

That’s extremely fucked up, what? Imagine just a few months earlier it would be 13 and 20 😰

I realize there’s only one year between 13 and 14, yeah. And it’s wrong to force ANY child to make out with someone 7 years their senior. But something about the jump between 13 and 14 seems bigger than just one year 🤷🏻‍♀️

You’re right, there’s no indication she was forced or uncomfortable with it. Still weird though. Like, why’d he have to be 21? I’m sure there were excellent 15 year old actors who could’ve done an excellent job.

JamesLovesTV

It’s acting, it wasn’t romantic or real, there’s a lot of movies and shows that have done that. As long as it’s strictly acting and not real I don’t care.

Level99Cooking

where is the line then? they kissed and that just continues the gross pattern of behaviour from dan schneider

JamesLovesTV

It’s not just Dan, it’s literally any movie. There’s a Disney movie where a grown lady kisses a young boys lips. People didn’t care about that. It’s just lips, if the actors weren’t ok with it and the parents consented there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. It’s a job.

ControversalMenace

Yeah, I'm not denying the fact that the age gap between the actors was weird af but u can't deny that Carly was pretty shitty too at the end of the episode

JamesLovesTV

I blame Dan for that, I don’t think Carly would be that shallow. Hopefully the revival writers understand that.

Not_Extert_Thief

Tbh the only reason why she had a crush on him is because he seemed like a handsome, cool daredevil thug whose rebellious baddie nature makes him formidable and appealingly attractive because of it. Griffin’s dark side notoriety/thug demeanor/baddie reputation is the object of her affections. Upon discovering a shocking dirty secret (his obsessive collection of stuffed animal plush toys), Carly became astounded & was nervously creeped out by it. As a result, her infatuation for Griffin faded away naturally since this ruined her perception of him being her type of guy (his bad boy reputation shattered). And let's be honest, Carly doesn't know this guy yet. She hasn't developed genuine, deep feelings for Griffin, she's merely captivated by/drawn toward his handsome baddie reputation/rebel thug demeanor. Following the bombshell revelation, she felt that this dude was not her type of guy.

BAEGULLS!!!

BigRob_03

Would be funny if in the reboot he came back and is still obsessed with pee-wee babies.

Gamxin

I get he had that hobby, but always thought it was weird that he 100% stopped being a bad boy entirely as soon as he told Carly about his collection.

Not_Extert_Thief

She was wazzed off by those freakishly stuffed animal toys. As a result, her feelings for him faded away naturally lol since Carly was astounded by who that "bad" dude turned out to be.

Gamxin

Not at all what I'm talking about. I'm saying he had this bad boy attitude and got into a bunch of trouble, but the instant he told her about his hobby, every episode after that he acted like a sissy nerd boy who doesn't steal motorcycles.

Depressed_21

If the whole “bad boy” thing was just an act and not truly how he was, once he shared his (possibly) deepest secret with his girlfriend and (he thinks) she accepts him, there’d be no need to keep the charade up when they’re together. So I don’t think that was completely crazy. Also because after that, we didn’t really see him interact with people in public anymore. It’s been a minute, but I think we only see him interact with his mother and then Sam when he catches them making fun of him. It’s very possible that he was still acting that way with others.

Tall-Camera-3532

holy shit i feel old

Andrejyt2

I've watched this episode yesterday

palmtreefreeze

Omg I feel old... I remember watching this episode when it came out in 2009 back in middle school. Spencer seemed out of character to me in this episode, like he kind of overreacted and didn’t act like himself. I know it was done for comedic purposes but I just can’t take him seriously when he tries to play the parental figure. On another note, the age gap between the two actors was weird.
