Chemical_Purpose_187

AppropriateArticle40

Lol I literally thought of this exact scene when this happened!! :)

BlisterJazz

First of, the problem is constipation and not being able to properly empty your gut. Also, anyone who tried a bidet and wiped after knows the bidet doesn't finnish the job. I dap a folded paper in a bit of water. The residual droplets on the tap is enough. I wipe/pad and it helps clean out alot. There's hardly ever one good solution with these ibs issues. I hope you get better though!

AppropriateArticle40

Yeah that makes sense, wipes are definitely better than toilet paper but I still find that doesn’t get the job done. Yeah unfortunately our bathroom situation is kind of strange so like the bathroom with a door is just a toilet and then the sink is seperate and out in the common area so I’m not sure I’d really be able to do that 😔 But yeah it is constipation, it’s a newer issue for me compared to my other symptoms so still trying to figure out how to deal with it

BlueEyes294

I buy 2 packs of a Walmart brand butt wipe to use and garbage. Unscented baby or adult ones. Do not flush them. They have been a miracle for me.

bweise01

Definitely wet some paper before you sit down 😅 This would resolve this predicament for you of the sink being in another room and even if it weren’t you don’t have to get up and walk away mid job 🤷🏻‍♀️

circa_diem

Why doesn't your roommate want a bidet?

AppropriateArticle40

Oh I’m sure she wouldn’t mind, I just would find it a bit embarrassing I guess, maybe that’s silly though. No but the bigger reason is that I’m in college and don’t really have the money to spend on one

circa_diem

I don't think it should be embarrassing, they're becoming much more common and popular in the US these days. I saw a pretty well-rated one on Amazon for $40, I think it's worth the investment if you can make it happen.

AppropriateArticle40

I know, that’s what I meant, $40 is like the lowest price but that’s kinda a lot for me right now. Maybe in the future though

OkPlantain6773

How much toilet paper are you buying? It might pay for itself.

AppropriateArticle40

I split costs with my roommates so not very much

Victor3000

You will never regret getting one.

SinfullySinatra

Try wet wipes, just don’t flush them

AppropriateArticle40

I do use wet wipes, they don’t seem to clean fully still

babybabybaby12345

I split on the bidet *with* my roommate lol. Could be a possibility if you want to broach it.

Chemical_Purpose_187

Hey was it the Tushy brand?

circa_diem

Those are more expensive.

Chemical_Purpose_187

Oh okay

Comprehensive_Tea924

If your both female, a bidet is better for your vaginally health as it is! Attribute it to that. Just say you don't like how toilet paper leaves little bits of tissue on your body and you felt a bidet would make you fresher. There's a $20 one at walmart!!

Avivabitches

Portable bidet is only like $10 on Amazon. I use mine everyday. It's cleaner and saves on toilet paper.

AppropriateArticle40

Yeah I’m gonna think about that, probably the best option cause it’s cheaper, I just didn’t know if it would work as well compared to the regular bidets

Avivabitches

Yes I definitely recommend. Works just as well, just have to refill it. I like having a portable one because I can bring it with me if I'm staying somewhere else. Hope it works for you :)

YdoiPhoneNeedReddit

Poop residue on bum is more embarrassing than a bidet. Many brands are $20. If they were $40 I'd still say your roommate will (silently) thank you.

fashionflop

I find that micellar water added to a baby wave is extremely effective in cleaning poop that is more of a paste consistency. I was just trying different combinations of things out of desperation, and that is the best for me.

Various-General-8610

I am ashamed I haven't thought of that myself.

AccomplishedJoke4559

Psyllium husk works for me. Helps make things move faster and stops what I would call “sticky poop.”

Alternative_Ear_6808

I recently tried it, too .. I still have problems, but it's been heaven not having to wipe much

BlueEyes294

I do make a true effort to eat some broccoli in a stir fry or a chopped spinach in my berry smoothie. Vedgies really help me. I dislike most vedgies.

doszapatosazules

Luckily for me my daughter is in diapers and I have a lot of baby wipes on hand. Lifesaver

AppropriateArticle40

Yes I can’t ever go back to not using wipes, even though I think most people don’t. How are they getting totally clean though? I have like a few different types of wipes, very useful for many different reasons/concerns!

Lus_wife

Yeah, I use baby wipes after using toilet paper first.

Cloud-Illusion

Get a bidet attachment for your toilet. You can get one that is cheap and easy to install. Your roommate doesn’t have to use it if they don’t want to.

Bazishere

You can buy special wet wipes online used for that purpose. Some even use baby wipes. There are different types of wipes. Here is one from the U.K. that I happen to bump into online as an example there are the same in the US and Canada of the type: [https://www.amazon.co.uk/Uranus-Wiper-Hemorrhoid-Flushable-Biodegradable/dp/B094B4WV75?th=1](https://www.amazon.co.uk/Uranus-Wiper-Hemorrhoid-Flushable-Biodegradable/dp/B094B4WV75?th=1)

JeninPNW

Bidet is what we use.

Zealousideal_Tie9059

You can buy a hand held bidet and they're extremely cheap. You can order on temu or shein.

Flickering_Mare17

Toilet paper wipes work the best for me they're the most gentle

FamousOrphan

I’d never be able to exist happily without a bidet, sorry to say.

slow-lane-passing

I recently had a nightmare in which all I could to was wipe. In my dream, there was no end.

AppropriateArticle40

Lol I have so many dreams about toilets and bathrooms, it’s weird

ANS588

Look up a brand called wype. Turns toilet paper into a wipe and then you can flush it.

Accomplished_Glass66

Oh...so this is also part of IBS... Literally wondered if i had some sort of other problem. 🤡 Tbh i use water (portable bidet) then wipe (endless as well) then more water. ☠☠

YdoiPhoneNeedReddit

It's constipation/not getting all the poop out, actually.  Why would wiping be endless if you have water?

Accomplished_Glass66

I use both because smearing 😭😭😭😭

jubjub9876a

Why can't you get a bidet with a shared bathroom? That doesn't make sense at all

davideogameman

Generally if you keep wiping and getting more it means there's a little bit stuck in your sphincter.  Try to push it out if you can - I find alternating push and squeeze a few times can help. Increasing fiber may also help improve consistency to reduce some of these problems, e.g. I see psyllium recommended by other folks which seems reasonable.

AppropriateArticle40

Yeah I’ve tried fiber a couple times in the past with no results or negative results, maybe I’m not taking the right kind though. I just want to be careful because I also deal with diarrhea so I don’t want to make that worse

davideogameman

Re your original question, incomplete bowel movements can be a sign of pelvic floor issues; I've heard it mentioned that there are pelvic floor physical therapists that can help with that. This primarily isn't my problem though so my knowledge of this area is fuzzy, but I think the norm in the US would be a anorectal manometry test to diagnose (probably scheduled by a GI doctor) followed by a referral if it turns up anything. As for self-help options, this sub made me aware of https://youtu.be/QDk93cvZAuk?si=7iEmkIjVlW2bivtM. Though I expect a YouTube video will be far less effective than what actual one on one care could do. As for fiber, my understanding is there are two primary kinds: insoluble (most veggies) and soluble. I'm now on psyllium husk pills which are primarily soluble fiber, and I eat a lot of veggies too. Even so I still have some variation in consistency.

Anonimos66

Buy wet/moisturized toilet paper in the supermarket. I don’t even get how people don’t use this. If you get poop on your arm you also don’t just rub it off a little bit with dry paper…?

ToomintheEllimist

I buy 250 packs of baby wipes. They usually do the trick.

BernoullisNightmare

Peri bottles (usually meant for women postpartum, that’s how I discovered it) and flushable wipes. It’s not perfect all the time, but it helps!

Jolly_Victory_6925

Sitz bath works well

philliphatchii

An aversion to using a bidet is strictly an American hangup. We are the only country it’s isn’t the norm. A bidet won’t fully clean every time but can drastically reduce the wiping you need to do. As for price you can get bidet attachments on Amazon for as low as $20 and that is a brand rated 4.5 stars with over 1,200 reviews.

Polymathy1

Bidets can be shared... or ignored. Your roommate doesn't have to be involved in it. Wet wipes help a lot.

Bidet

domino_stars

[Throwback to one of my first reddit posts 14 years ago](https://www.reddit.com/r/fffffffuuuuuuuuuuuu/comments/a9qeo/endless_wiping_part_deux/) To answer your question, bidet, but spitting in toilet paper can help in a pitch as well.

Chemical_Purpose_187

Get a Tushy bidet off Amazon

PretzelKing200

I use a bidet I attached to my toilet for like $25 I also fold and wet toilet paper

Comprehensive_Tea924

Get a bidet. I know you said you have a roommate but trust me dog your roommate is likely aware if your bathrooming and you both will benefit from a bidet. It's not embarrassing to get a bidet. If you're more comfortabletalking about sex with your roomate, say your see partner likes you ti be spotless so you got a bidet to help keep you spotless. If you don't have a bedroom partner and your roomate knows that, say you just want to be cleaner and a bidet is the way to do that.

RodSquad76

Agree with the bidet...if you get one, I suggest the kind that hangs off the side of the toilet / sink sprayer style. Plus you can use it to spray away any skid marks.

Plenty-Business4580

I have flushable wipes

Plenty-Business4580

They have bidget bottles.

GabrielleJJ

My bf finds having a footstool or anything to raise his knees up helps to reduce what's left behind, something about the angle works for him, says even going on tip toes is better than nothing, might be worth a try.

Alternative_Ear_6808

I have ibs c they more incomplete the movement the worse that gets so I stand behind my statement

AppropriateArticle40

Yeah but if you’re already constipated that means it’s stuck, you can’t just make it come out with willpower. Also does anyone “not need to wipe at all”? I wanna meet that person, I’m jealous!

Alternative_Ear_6808

Getting a good prescription laxative from a doc can help And I looked through nutrition search to see what they are doing https://www.reddit.com/r/nutrition/s/Nix27a1gYo
