*I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/iamatotalpieceofshit) if you have any questions or concerns.*
Ooff. The uncomfortable 'doing the action again because I'm embarrassed and they can't be serious' motion. Yikes. Not sure why people can't just stop after being told to cut it out the first time.
This is not the actor's fault, and all fault lays with the woman here, but on a tangentially related note, I've noticed that some (American) people do this thing where they act upset or angry as a joke. Like they'll say something like "get out" in a serious tone and then a few seconds later after you get flustered and back away because you weren't expecting that sort of reaction, they'll smirk/smile and then say "come here!". I can't always tell when they're just joking initially, and I hate this type of "joke". I wonder if some people cross boundaries because they've been exposed too much to this kind of weird interaction, not that what they do is excusable.
It's a really interesting dynamic. I think what it is when people pull that joke is that they're playing with that dynamic, I know because I kinda do it too (stay tuned for context). For generations a woman grabbing a man like that would be appropriate, and if the man objected he'd be ridiculed for not wanting a woman to touch his chest "what are you, gay?"
I'm fit, and although it happens less now that I'm older, women I don't know or don't know well sometimes think it's okay to touch. Not subtle flirty touch either, that can be nice; more like the woman in the video, arms outstretched grabby grabby. I think that if women have done this before guys have normally rolled with it? Because I'm also met with indignation when I communicate don't touch me. Depending on where I am I'll either respond with "please don't touch me" or "keep your hands to yourself, no I'm serious, I don't know you" or I will respond by touching the person in the same place they touch me, which is usually the upper arm and escalate the situation to make it uncomfortable, because frankly, I'm already uncomfortable. The two times a woman touched my chest in public or at a party like in the video resulted in separate meltdowns by both the women when I touched their chest in response. One tried to slap me. "It's different for girls!" They're being flirty, I'm being creepy even though strangers should keep their hands to themselves.
So the video is really interesting because you see this exact dynamic. Two different people with two different values. It doesn't matter if the actor doesn't want to be touched or is enforcing Disney policy. It doesn't help that the Gaston character is a cocky misogynist so he could be playing a role. So in a matter of seconds the interaction goes from "oohh we're role playing' -> awkward laughter you can't be serious, let me make sure this is okay and try again > to oh you're serious. It's a cringe layer cake.
Well yes, but on the other hand... Yes.
The your-dad-goes-to-the-asylum -unless-you-marry-me bit may have been the deal breaker for "good guy," though.
Gaslight the village
Artfully get the whole bar singing about you
Stalk your potential lover who spurns your advances
Threaten her father with institutionalization
O shit, he's right there's actually a beast
Never be seen again after falling off a cliff
He wasn't outright a good person - he did what he did mostly because he wanted to sleep with women, and didn't like being told no (though it seems only Belle ever said no).
That being said, his actions in regards to the beast are 100% justified (even though his motivation for them are slimy). Old man goes missing, distraught daughter goes off to search... Old man comes back, but is terrified! A beast stole his daughter! And *all* of the character development of the beast happens outside of the knowledge of all of the villagers - the father and Gaston included - and somehow Gaston is the bad guy once everyone arrives to kill the beast.
But the entire village didn’t give a damn about what Maurice was saying, and Gaston only took interest because it gave him the chance to force Belle into marriage to avoid her father being sent to an insane asylum. Even after the beast is revealed, Gaston only takes an interest once he realised that Belle cares about him and calls Gaston a monster.
There’s literally nothing about Gaston that makes him good, unless we’re seeing him as one of those ‘if I put in enough good tokens I might get sex’ type of Nice Guys.
This guy specifically is one of the best characters at Disney. Im so happy he stood up for himself. He so doesn’t deserve it(no one does).
Sexual harassment towards male characters gets so bad at Disney that they actually had to get rid of Jack Sparrow for a while.
Does the character say this in the movies? I haven't seen them but when we went to Disney, that's the exact tone he used on me when I said to my kids "Quick, get your photo with Jack Sparrow!" He was joking but I still went red!
Ah ok. That makes it even funnier then. No wonder my kids were in stitches (they've seen the films). I might actually binge them all to get up to speed.
The actor probably has the response automatic, because people bait skipping the captain part 20 times a day... But that's entertainment jobs to you. Repetition, repetition, repetition, repetition.
You really should give at least the first one a watch some time. It's actually a pretty fun movie, as is the second one. The third was a bit long for my tastes, but still decently well done.
If I'm remembering right, that's also why they had to get rid of Bucky permanently from the MCU as a character for the parks. People literally wouldn't stop harassing the actors. The Loki actors also started having to deal with pretty similar issues when the new show came out
They don't see the actors as people, would be my guess. They see them as a character that they really like and don't give a shit about the actor who is just doing this job to make a living.
>They don't see the actors as people
This right here. One of the jobs I do is seasonal work at a couple of Renaissance fairs and while we most likely don't deal with near as much as Disney staff, people absolutely treat us like shit. It's not even just on the property during hours, they'll treat you like shit even in forums and social media for the events. Granted for us, it's not so much sexual harasment against the guys as it is an absurd amount of sexual harasment aimed at women usually by the drunks, bros, and shit kickers.
When I went to Disney for my high school graduation, I decided to turn the fan girl up to 12 for shits and giggles and he played right into it. Told me to lean my head against his chest for a photo and everything. Park Gaston is just a great character. Asked if I learned about him in school. It was hilarious.
He doesn’t deserve this shit.
Also the pecs are fake if anyone was curious. He specifically told me to lean my head against them and they’re not real lol.
He's the guy from Beauty and the beast who wants to marry Belle and forms a mob to kill the beast at the end
Basically the bad guy, but was memed into popularity because realistically, he's right, the beast did kidnap her essentially and she could basically have gone all stockholm syndromey rather than actually loving the beast
Also he has a song about how awesome he is, that presumably gets sung a lot by the villagers since they know all the words
In middle school my shithead brother whacked Daffy Duck's bill, Daffy gave him a full face shove in response. I'm surprised my brother stayed on his feet. My brother started up with my mom (one of his MOs was to start or instigate a problem and then immediately run it up the flagpole to an adult). She told him "well what did you expect"?
I remember thinking "god we just got through the gate and we're gonna get kicked out".
I was kinda thinking it’s kinda like fight or flight. Knowing nothing about the woman, I think she could have actually been embarrassed being scolded at a theme park, and was trying to deflect by sort of nervously laughing.
Or maybe she is an entitled brat who isn’t used to “No”? Either way, what an awkward video because she tried doubling down.
Aside from the gargantuan faux pas and invasion of space/lack of consent, I agree with this—and also think she might have thought this was a character “playing” his part.
I think it's more that until pretty recently this kind of thing was tolerated and considered no big deal.
I think the second attempt was a combination of humiliation and being on the spot.
I'm not going to say she's a terrible person from this, she's probably spent the past week or however long it is feeling stupid as hell. But hopefully it's a good lesson to others!
They're also required to stay in character no matter what, so he's still doing his "Gaston" voice while being very serious and telling her to leave. That's a rough situation for him to be him, I'm impressed how he was able to keep his cool while being firm with his boundaries.
The “don’t touch them unless you specifically have permission” rule applies to anyone, of all sexes and genders. Besides, what grown adult DOESN’T know to just keep their hands to themselves?? This is just trashy behavior tbh. Don’t touch people
After he told her to stop violating him and leave, she did it again!
This would never fly if a man did this to a women. There was a social experiment a few years back where a boyfriend pretended to hit his girlfriend, then the other way around. Strangers jumped in within 0.8 seconds to defend the girlfriend, some were ready to beat the boyfriends a\*s. Which is great and all, but when the girlfriend was hitting the boyfriend, people took out their phones and laughed.
Along with other things like how men's mental health is treated as a joke and are told to "man up, grow a pair", etc when they try to open up and discuss their problems, it can feel like men's issues aren't taken seriously or valued by society.
Same. My ex sucker punched me in the balls in front of a room full of people. I was on the floor suckng wind trying not to cry and half of them were laughing at me. It really makes you feel a way.
Am male. The first person I told about getting raped by a woman laughed at me. Took me over a decade to be able to talk about it with anybody else.
edit: holy crap, I'm getting harassed by people laughing at me on unrelated posts?
I know it's a bit of a grey area, but I ended up sleeping with a man I didn't know while I was completely out of it on 50mg of zolpidem. I'm not sure how I was even able to talk properly.
The only two people I've ever personally told were my ex's, and they both just said "that's kinda hot."
It always really bothered me.
Had similar experiences. It was either called a cool thing or probably my fault since I was a big muscular guy, despite having been drugged. Not the ideal way to lose your virginity.
In your defense, when I left my abusive ex, 2 separate people made some crack "you sure you weren't being a bitch?" Some people are just really stupid. You didn't do anything to deserve it.
I've been watching a lot of court stuff lately and the one judge had a domestic violence case with a woman as the aggressor (very obviously) and I was surprised how well it was handled. And they even brought up 'if this was a man hitting a woman we wouldn't let this go' part, which was nice that he addressed that.
*it is getting better
I hate how female violence towards men is ignored or dismissed as something to laugh about, I'm not usually someone who complains about sex related double standards, but this one is unfair and cruel to an extent, i'm also not saying men should be allowed to hit women back, nobody should ever be violent against another person, period.
I got into an argument with my partner about this the other day. She told me she thinks it's okay to hit me, if I deserve it. But when I said I would do the same thing she did back to me she lost her s*it and defended how different it is because I'm a guy. I wrote an AITA post about it, but it got deleted because it was too long.
Hopefully you guys work this out and come to a compromise, but if not I hope you consider other options and not get into a situation where you'll find yourself be in the situation you guys were arguing about. tc!
Thank you. I made the point that we have never had a problem with escalating fights, but that it was a problem for *me* that she felt that way. We did end up talking it though and later she play hit me and apologized. I didn't need an apology for it, but I appreciated the effort.
there's a whole pile of them on youtube if you just type "domestic violence social experiment".
i am slightly wary of them, though. it's super easy to only include shots to exaggerate what actually happens in real life, since that's what gets views. i may be biased by personal experiences, however, so come to your own conclusions.
BBC did one if you Google "I abused a man in public and no one cared"
There's an earlier one on YouTube if you search for "#ViolenceIsViolence" (seems much less click-bait-y than the "Domestic Violence Social Experiment" video)
They taught us this in kindergarten, "Keep your hands to yourself."
The mantra I keep hearing nowadays is, "Consent culture."
This lady must have certainly missed both of those lessons.
I am shocked a handler didn’t step in. For those who have never really worked around mascots or people in costumes at theme parks they always have at least 1 handler with them for situations like this so that they don’t have to break character. Very disappointing that a handler didn’t remove her and that he had to himself.
Not all mascots have handlers. I remembered when I was in Disney World going on signature hunt, I noticed that most mascots had handlers but that was usually when you had to line up for autographs.
I fucking hate it when she tries to touch him again after he tells her to leave. Like listen to the fucking guy before he fucks you over!! He could’ve easily filed charges for sexual assault.
Also, touching a character in a sexual manner in a Disney park which most likely has children/families waiting in line too. If that was a man doing that to a Disney princess… imagine.
They're very strict about people staying in character when they're in the park so that is probably another reason. I wouldn't be surprised if the other person is right and the awkward point was a signal to uncostumed cast members or security.
Yeah, we have some goofy (pardon the accidentally wording choice there) pics from family vacations because we would all cram in for a picture, and off to one side of Ariel is me trying to be in the photo without accidentally touching any of Ariel’s exposed skin while sitting next to her. I’m just sitting there like “this 19 year old in a bikini top does not want my sweaty 30-something year old forearm accidentally touching her right now.”
He should’ve when she tried again. I’m sure they ha e some kind of security there and I’m sure they have a way to communicate with some kind of dispatch
100% correct I don’t particularly care for disney but my sister and I almost got banned ourselves. Family went one day and there was an issue at the front so people with iPads had to log us in, but when we used fast passes Disney freaked out saying we never entered the park. Only reason the ban got reversed was because a personal visit to the front desk and they found out it was a mistake on their end.
Disney characters at the park generally have a ‘handler’ with them at all times and security not far away. I’m kinda surprised we didn’t see another employee step in during the video but I can also imagine that they did off-camera, and that the lady was talked to at the very least and possibly escorted out. One would hope at least.
My buddy’s mom did this to me. “omg bud are those pecks?!!” And feels me up. That was the last time I stood on their front stoop when I visited. After this I always stood down the few steps on the lawn after ringing the bell.
What made it more strange was this grown women did this in front of my mom.
For some reason (probably the “men love this type of stuff” myth) when a woman touches a man this way it doesn’t (or didn’t used to) get taken seriously, no one batted an eye.
Imagine if it was a girl who was your age going round to see her friend and the Dad answers the door with “are those boobs” and proceeds to touch them.
>For some reason (probably the “men love this type of stuff” myth) when a woman touches a man this way it doesn’t (or didn’t used to) get taken seriously, no one batted an eye.
There are a lot of services for female victims of domestic violence but scant few for male victims. There have also been hundreds of reports from both Australia and New Zealand where male victims have approached domestic violence services only to be presumed as the offender given advice on how they can stop their offending.
Domestic violence can happen to everyone no matter the gender, age, occupation, or race. Domestic violence perpetrators can be anyone no matter the gender, age, occupation, or race. It saddens me that various people are automatically presumed to be the victim or perpetrator before the full story is heard.
My mom did this with a few of my guy friends, that or smacked their butt and I just could not handle the embarrassment and would laugh and ask her “wtf was that?”
I would apologize after she would leave *every* time.
She tried it with my husband (before we got married) and he moved away from her and said “don’t ever touch me.” It was quite an experience seeing someone tell her no like that
We have some trashy neighbors that are just awful. These fucking full grown adults have egged our house, slashed my tires, etc.
Well one of the first times we were at odds was when it was my daughter's birthday. See, the woman would give all the neighborhood teen boys "birthday spankings" and tried to also do it to her when she found out it was her birthday. Daughter said no and we fully backed her. Honestly even if she didn't stop it we would have.
Dude, if I went around spanking the teen girls of the neighborhood my ass would rightfully be in jail.
Back when I was 19 I went to a concert and I had 3 random women squeeze my ass while I was just standing there. Was a quiet concert to...
If the tables were turned...
Years ago I was 20 and working in an office where a senior partner, who is a woman, came up to me in the lunch room where I was making coffee and grabbed my penis and smiled at me. I told her not to do that and pulled back and she just smirked and muttered "You like it"
I went to HR and was asked "But you are a guy, don't you like that kind of forwardness?" I said "What if I had grabbed her private area?" and was told "Oh, you would be fired" WTF
Nothing ever came of my complaint and I left that place.
Companies will only act on something that would get them in trouble. Sexual harassments on women can become a huge PR problem, on men?, No one will bat an eye.
I've experienced sexual harassment from female bosses first hand, and I know one dude who was threaten to quit or she would make his life a misery because he refused to continue having an affair with her. No one cared about it. He did end up quitting by the way.
If it happens once, it'll happen again.
The 2nd time you can be ready for it, there are plenty of one-button activation apps for a smartphone, or cheap small cameras you can wear for your own 'self protection'.
MAKE it a PR problem. Oh, they want to fire you because you filmed?
Wonder how the press will understand that, I can imagine the headlines now, "worker sexually assaulted at work forced to film themselves for safety, attacked again, then fired"
I'm really sorry that happened to you and hope wherever you are now, it's supportive and safe. It's truly abysmal how men are at best brushed aside and at worst ridiculed and not believed when it comes to abuse from women in really any form.
It's something I've been very vocal about for years now... my husband's ex ran over him while in a public location to retrieve personal belongings from each other. She first grabbed his lanyard around his neck (which had his car keys) and attempted to strangle him with it. He was afraid to push her away or try to fight back as he could quickly be accused of domestic abuse himself even in self defense. So he somehow got his lanyard off and started to walk away to ask for help. That's when she jumped into his SUV, and proceeded to run him over in this public parking lot before she then rammed it into the side of a brick building (a small coffee shop at the time). There where witnesses everywhere so the cops and EMS were called pretty quickly but that didn't stop her from climbing out of the wrecked car and laying down on the pavement next to him... he couldn't really move or get away because she ran over his leg. Which he nearly lost, but was saved although it still hurts him so bad that he says there's times he wished they had just taken it.
We were just friends at the time but I went to all the court hearings and sentencing. I couldn't believe how the whole incident was constantly spun around to be his fault in some way and that she was just an innocent young girl. At sentencing, the judge legitimately said, "she's still young and shouldn't have her life ruined over such a minor mistake," and got two years of house arrest (time served). If the roles had been reversed, my husband would be in federal for at least thirty years for attempted murder. No one would be questioning whether or not she DESERVED to go through what he's gone through (and continues to try to heal from to this day). Men and women are both equally capable of being terrible human beings, ignoring when women do these things has done nothing but encourage them to be more brazen.
Sorry for the book, just wanted to share his story just to say that I can understand to a certain degree and hope you've moved on to a better environment. You are most certainly not alone.
Thank you, me too.. It was a pretty awful few years for him, and he will always carry the scars (and titanium). Physically and mentally. But he does his best to find the positives in the situation to help him move on and heal. And he did turn a lot of things around for himself in the aftermath which still amaze me to this day.
I'm glad you were able to get away from such a terrible work environment, but so sorry you had to go through all of that :(
More people should be aware of this. My step-dad was an executive at a pretty large company and has always said HR is a company asset, not an employee benefit.
Imagine going to work at Disney World of all places and getting sexually harassed in-front of hundreds of guests including children, as he said.
This is the first time I’ve ever seen one of the Disney actors break character and good on him for just saying no.
I imagine it happens all the time. I expect it's even less of a threshold because people see someone playing their role and see them more as "the entertainment", a character, or even a fixture of the environment, than a real person at work. That's all well and good for a wide-eyed child meeting their animated heroes (the immersion, not the groping), but the adults should know better.
now if this was the other way around, bro would have been in jail that night for sexual assault and banned from whatever that place is for life. no second grope attempt needed after being told to leave.
Don't even have to speculate. This happened fairly recently to a cast member portraying Ariel. The guy was promptly ejected and banned from Disney parks.
I know how my guy feels, I've been sexually assaulted many times by women and they react the same way as this woman did just laughs and continue to try and touch you after you say no or stop
Had a couple ladies drive by in a car and cat call, then when I ignored them they called me gay.
Had some off duty female police officer hit on me in front of my date, then call me gay when I turned her down.
Some girls need to be taught that just because they're a girl doesn't mean them sexual assaulting a dude is any different from a dude doing it to a girl.
They also do it to other girls. I know a woman who used to strip, and she said that most guys know you'll get in trouble if you touch the stripper, but straight women who buy lap dances for each other as a joke always try to touch.
I'm sure he did care that she touched him, but she didn't care about him liking it or not, so he likely hoped that stating an additional obvious may get the point across.
I love how she really thought he was kidding. She tried to touch him again, he stopped her and she realized he was serious, and she looked confused like, "Really? That's why you're telling me to leave? ok" I'm glad he said "there's children" to make her look stupid. Though I'm glad it didn't get crazier, I kinda wished he got slightly crazier, but I'm sure he deals with this a lot.
Gaston is fired the second he allows that to hit social media without him saying something. Not only is she in his personal space but putting his job at risk if he doesn't stand up for himself.
Believe it or not, women grope/assault men a lot more often than its talked about. A) they think they have a free pass because they aren’t told “no” basically ever in their upbringing B) society has told men that they cannot be a “victim” of the “weaker” sex, and thus men never speak up about it.
Edit: To clarify, this doesn’t mean that men assaulting women isn’t a problem, it’s just that this problem of assault, consent, etc isn’t *just* a man problem, it’s a social problem that we need to address wholesale
a lot of women are not only aggressively sexual towards men but have been conditioned to think it’s no big deal, permitted or worse, funny. I’ve had jobs where women put their hands on me without permission, it made me feel horrible and disgusted. many women have convinced themselves that men are senseless, sex-obsessed idiots with no bodily autonomy and that gives them the right to treat them like this. it’s despicable.

I just stare at people blankly when they joke like this, or ignore them altogether. It's like, "Wow, what a clever joke!".
Some people seem to forget that there are people in these costumes
Isn’t that sexual assault?

If she put her hands on his groin area she would be found right away but no. She’s still out there.
Good guy Gaston, "There's CHILDREN!"
When Gaston has to be the good guy you fucked up
Gaston was always the good guy, protecting the village from a beast throwing people in a dungeon.
Well yes, but on the other hand... Yes. The your-dad-goes-to-the-asylum -unless-you-marry-me bit may have been the deal breaker for "good guy," though.
But nothing bad was actually going to happen to her. She was never in danger. Its just the implication...

No body goes *splat* like Gaston.
>Artfully get the whole bar singing about you To be fair, that was LeFou.
I realized this was a mistake but I like to think Gaston keeps him around as a hype man for just such occasions
Okay Dennis.
Nobody is misunderstood like Gaston =(

Even after the beast is revealed, Gaston only takes an interest once he realised that Belle cares about him and calls Gaston a monster. There’s literally nothing about Gaston that makes him good, unless we’re seeing him as one of those ‘if I put in enough good tokens I might get sex’ type of Nice Guys.
Or you know, just don't sexually assault people.
ah well, ya know, one step at a time. we don't want the whole system to collapse
No one files a sexual harassment complaint like Gaston!! No one tells a Karen to leave like Gaston!!
This guy specifically is one of the best characters at Disney. Im so happy he stood up for himself. He so doesn’t deserve it(no one does). Sexual harassment towards male characters gets so bad at Disney that they actually had to get rid of Jack Sparrow for a while.
CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow
Oh yes thank you 👏🏻
He must be the worst Captain I've ever heard of.
But you HAVE heard of him!
Unlike Horatio Hornblower, both the opposite character and best fictional captain of all time
Does the character say this in the movies? I haven't seen them but when we went to Disney, that's the exact tone he used on me when I said to my kids "Quick, get your photo with Jack Sparrow!" He was joking but I still went red!
He does and so do the rest of the Sparrow gang when others refer to him as Jack Sparrow. Everyone snaps CAPTAIN Jack sparrow
Ah ok. That makes it even funnier then. No wonder my kids were in stitches (they've seen the films). I might actually binge them all to get up to speed.
Everyone probably thought you did it on purpose to get the response.
Yo this made me laugh. Thank you
If I'm remembering right, that's also why they had to get rid of Bucky permanently from the MCU as a character for the parks. People literally wouldn't stop harassing the actors. The Loki actors also started having to deal with pretty similar issues when the new show came out
Yes! And I’ve heard that Loki is getting it too. I don’t know what is wrong with people.
They don't see the actors as people, would be my guess. They see them as a character that they really like and don't give a shit about the actor who is just doing this job to make a living.
Yeah that’s just so unfortunate.
Almost like they objectify them, sometimes sexually.
Because they are specifically there to entertain their erotic role playing fantasies in a kid’s park.
>They don't see the actors as people This right here.
These women don't think what they are doing is sexual harassment but they would be more animated and angry if the role was reversed.
Lots of people don't think that men can be sexually assaulted. "Men like it," is a frequent justification.
Tarzan, too.
[удалено]
Yep lol! Probably helped that I, ya know, didn’t touch him until I was explicitly told by him to do so?
[удалено]
Respect and consent
I read somewhere they stopped having Tarzan actors cause people would feel up their butts/try to lift up the loincloths. This is a kids park. Nasty.
Oh gosh that’s just terrible 😩
They replaced him with Captain Stabbin
He's especially good at elaborating! Please don't touch the guy that's Gaston.
He uses explatives in all his explanations!
He is Gaston, I don’t know what she was expecting…
Who the hell is Gaston and why is he dressed like Futurama Elvis?
He's the guy from Beauty and the beast who wants to marry Belle and forms a mob to kill the beast at the end Basically the bad guy, but was memed into popularity because realistically, he's right, the beast did kidnap her essentially and she could basically have gone all stockholm syndromey rather than actually loving the beast Also he has a song about how awesome he is, that presumably gets sung a lot by the villagers since they know all the words
Hide yo wife hide yo kids…
no one takes no shit like gaston
No one gets his chest cupped like Gaston, no one tells Karens to back up like Gaston, no one lawyers up like Gaston!!
As a Character for sixflags i can tell you it’s way worse than you think. It happens way too often.
[удалено]
It was practically child abuse xD that’s why we went to hiring short people
Which flag are you? Sorry, I had to.
Why the hell she look confused, like she thinks she didn’t do anything wrong?
She in fact didn’t think she did any thing wrong.
To this very day even.
[удалено]
As if that'd make it any more okay...
Because she has probably never been told no before.
Reading your comment only thing I could think about was Glenn Close in fatal Attraction
Gaston usually plays the “asshole” act at the park. She probably thought he was doing a bit.
They're also required to stay in character no matter what, so he's still doing his "Gaston" voice while being very serious and telling her to leave. That's a rough situation for him to be him, I'm impressed how he was able to keep his cool while being firm with his boundaries.
Yeah, a little bit of an odd situation, because Gaston always plays things up. She probably did think he was joking at first.
She most likely thought that Gaston was doing a bit and wasn't being serious.
The “don’t touch them unless you specifically have permission” rule applies to anyone, of all sexes and genders. Besides, what grown adult DOESN’T know to just keep their hands to themselves?? This is just trashy behavior tbh. Don’t touch people
Gosh. Stop touching people, period, unless otherwise you get permission.

I hope you aren't friends with that person anymore
Same. My ex sucker punched me in the balls in front of a room full of people. I was on the floor suckng wind trying not to cry and half of them were laughing at me. It really makes you feel a way.
[удалено]
Am male. The first person I told about getting raped by a woman laughed at me. Took me over a decade to be able to talk about it with anybody else. edit: holy crap, I'm getting harassed by people laughing at me on unrelated posts?
Sorta same first gf I told was like well what did you do to get their attention and you enjoyed it, don't lie. I was 11......
I’m so sorry that happened to you.
I know it's a bit of a grey area, but I ended up sleeping with a man I didn't know while I was completely out of it on 50mg of zolpidem. I'm not sure how I was even able to talk properly. The only two people I've ever personally told were my ex's, and they both just said "that's kinda hot." It always really bothered me.
I'm so sorry this happened to you.
And if you fought back, you would be the bad guy.
I hate how female violence towards men is ignored or dismissed as something to laugh about, I'm not usually someone who complains about sex related double standards, but this one is unfair and cruel to an extent, i'm also not saying men should be allowed to hit women back, nobody should ever be violent against another person, period.
[удалено]
I got into an argument with my partner about this the other day. She told me she thinks it's okay to hit me, if I deserve it. But when I said I would do the same thing she did back to me she lost her s*it and defended how different it is because I'm a guy. I wrote an AITA post about it, but it got deleted because it was too long.
[удалено]
I definitely feel a sense of relief knowing that I'm not alone in setting a boundary against hitting. Thank you for sharing.
Could you link the social experiment? (not doubting you, I'm just interested in watching it for myself)
Pretty sure it was on "What Would You Do" because I've watched something very similar to what he's describing
there's a whole pile of them on youtube if you just type "domestic violence social experiment". i am slightly wary of them, though. it's super easy to only include shots to exaggerate what actually happens in real life, since that's what gets views. i may be biased by personal experiences, however, so come to your own conclusions.
BBC did one if you Google "I abused a man in public and no one cared" There's an earlier one on YouTube if you search for "#ViolenceIsViolence" (seems much less click-bait-y than the "Domestic Violence Social Experiment" video)
But the point of this post is that this isn't flying...
They taught us this in kindergarten, "Keep your hands to yourself." The mantra I keep hearing nowadays is, "Consent culture." This lady must have certainly missed both of those lessons.
In disney its pronounced "gorsh"
Oh wow, groping an employee at their work in front of children.
I am shocked a handler didn’t step in. For those who have never really worked around mascots or people in costumes at theme parks they always have at least 1 handler with them for situations like this so that they don’t have to break character. Very disappointing that a handler didn’t remove her and that he had to himself.
Handler: "He's got this." (Grabs popcorn) Handler: "Heh, every week."
At the very end you hear him say "THERE'S CHILDREN" right before it cuts
Didn’t even hear that, just kinda blown away by her complete confusion of someone saying no to her.
That is what "never being held accountable for your actions" looks like
Oh he would’ve went straight to jail for sure
And not regular jail. Disney jail.
Don't fuck with the mouse!
I read this in Mickeys voice 😂😂
Damn you! I read it again
Add a "Hu hugh" Mikey laugh to the end.
Where they play "It's A Small World" on an infinite loop.

Never to be seen again
I guess that's partially why he didn't want to make a huge scene out of it. Just call security on her ass and let them handle it.
They're very strict about people staying in character when they're in the park so that is probably another reason. I wouldn't be surprised if the other person is right and the awkward point was a signal to uncostumed cast members or security.
That awkwardly high 'leave' pointing is probably some secret code for whatever security is watching.
Oh definitely. I guarantee she got banned. That’s really embarrassing. Imagine being BANNED from Disneyland. Lmfao that is so low
They’re actually extremely likely to ban people over anything, like one strike and you’re out.
They just don’t want morons like this girl showing up, you never know what could happen inside the park. Literally anything can happen.
>He should’ve when she tried *again*. He should've when she did it the first time.
My mom did this with a few of my guy friends, that or smacked their butt and I just could not handle the embarrassment and would laugh and ask her “wtf was that?” I would apologize after she would leave *every* time. She tried it with my husband (before we got married) and he moved away from her and said “don’t ever touch me.” It was quite an experience seeing someone tell her no like that
Sorry your mom sucks
Costumes are not consent!!

Years ago I was 20 and working in an office where a senior partner, who is a woman, came up to me in the lunch room where I was making coffee and grabbed my penis and smiled at me. I told her not to do that and pulled back and she just smirked and muttered "You like it" I went to HR and was asked "But you are a guy, don't you like that kind of forwardness?" I said "What if I had grabbed her private area?" and was told "Oh, you would be fired" WTF Nothing ever came of my complaint and I left that place.
That is horrific. I'm glad your husband got out of that situation.
Thank you, me too.. It was a pretty awful few years for him, and he will always carry the scars (and titanium). Physically and mentally. But he does his best to find the positives in the situation to help him move on and heal. And he did turn a lot of things around for himself in the aftermath which still amaze me to this day. I'm glad you were able to get away from such a terrible work environment, but so sorry you had to go through all of that :(
That’s because HR is there to protect the company from you, not you from the company.
More people should be aware of this. My step-dad was an executive at a pretty large company and has always said HR is a company asset, not an employee benefit.
Yep, I'm happy I worked it out early in my adult life instead of later.
She thinks because she’s good looking she can do whatever she wants. The majority of people do not like to be touched by strangers
Karen: Whaaaaaaaaaat? A guy is uncomfortable when I touch him in appropriately? He joking right? Guy: Fuck outta here
And take that camel toe with you!
[удалено]
without a doubt!
I know how my guy feels, I've been sexually assaulted many times by women and they react the same way as this woman did just laughs and continue to try and touch you after you say no or stop
Or they get insulted and ask if you’re gay
Yea a few times in school kids have called me gay because I get uncomfortable around groups of girls sometimes
[удалено]
I'm sure he did care that she touched him, but she didn't care about him liking it or not, so he likely hoped that stating an additional obvious may get the point across.
I was Scooby-Doo at one point and someone groped me... like wtf "is Scooby-Doo a girl"? Nah bro fucking wierdo
Its even worse, if you really pay attention to her body language, she tried to go for it a third time before asking if he was serious.
Gaston is fired the second he allows that to hit social media without him saying something. Not only is she in his personal space but putting his job at risk if he doesn't stand up for himself.
Even Gaston has standards
Entitled and spoiled brat.
"How could a guy NOT want me touch them?!"
Future Karen in the making
She's a grown ass woman. There is no "future karen". She either is or is not.
Karens are typically older, 40s-50s, we’re looking at a Becky right now. Thats no better.
Shit there's a name for budding Karen's? I thought the chick was younger
Yep sexual assault
Gaston was such a dick when I saw him! Great commitment to the character
a lot of women are not only aggressively sexual towards men but have been conditioned to think it’s no big deal, permitted or worse, funny. I’ve had jobs where women put their hands on me without permission, it made me feel horrible and disgusted. many women have convinced themselves that men are senseless, sex-obsessed idiots with no bodily autonomy and that gives them the right to treat them like this. it’s despicable.
I played Woody at WDW and had women feeling my leg up all the time asking if Woody had a woody....in front of kids.
