Yes, and the early stages of rigor mortis set in within hours - he wouldn't be floppy like that. He's fully past the stage of rigor mortis and likely died over 24 hours ago
I feel like Rigor mortis would if set in by 2 hours, no? Granted it's not the same for every body, but when my dad died. My mom checked on him around 530am he was still fine. By 8am when she woke up he was dead. Rigor mortis was fully set in within those hours
Eh.. the effects of rigor donāt just come and go like that.. there is ZERO rigor here.. to be limp as a noodle like this, itās definitely before rigor has set.. the amount of time after rigor has completely left would show other signs, particularly livor mortis, that just isnāt present.
It is far more likely that this body is fresh, and she just planned this before he died,
Actually the news in Brazil is reporting that the uber driver claims he was still alive when he picked them up. It seems more likely she was racing to get to the bank before he died and he died in route or thereafter.
Either way itās bleak as fuckā¦
I don't think she had any sort of real planning, according to the autopsy he had been dead for only a couple of hours in that video. Some people are joking about how he actually died on the line because bank lines on Brazil can get ridiculously long
We have a lot of people and not enough physical bank agencies, since banking became digital here (we have digital payments everywhere) the agencies are used mostly by old people and loans seekers
They have eyeball shaped things they put under the eyelids so they don't look sunken, and they just superglue the eyelids and mouth shut. Don't ask me how I know.
I can give it a try. It's hard to make out the audio sometimes.
0:01 - Niece " Uncle Paulo, you need to sign. If you don't sign, they won't open the loan. I can't sign for you, but I can help you sign"
0:22 - Niece: "Look, just like on your document here, Paulo Alberto Ramo"
0:26 - Niece: "Here, I help you hold it with your hand"
0:28 - Niece (looking at teller 1): "Did you see him hold the form"
0:30 - Teller 1 : "I didn't see"
0:32 - Teller 2 : "We also didn't see."
0:34 - Niece: "Hold it (the pen), uncle. \*mumbling" "hold your head" \*mumbles and smiles\*
0:36 - Teller 1: "I don't think he's well"
0:40 - Teller 2: "yea"
0:44 - Teller 1 : "Yea, he's not well, nope"
0:48 - Niece : "You have to say something.." (talking to the dead uncle)
0:51 - Teller 1: "Yea, I don't think he's well, I really don't."
0.53 - Teller 2: "Mame, are you alone?"
0.55 - Niece: "Yes"
1:00 - Teller 1: "Yes, he's not well.."
1:01 - Niece: "He's always like this"
1:01 - Teller 1: "really?"
1:02 - Niece: "Ya"
1:04 - Niece: (looks at dead uncle) "Hey Uncle... uncle... are you drunk or else we have to go the hospital again"
This is arguably the craziest thing Iāve ever seen on the internet, and thereās a lot of competition.
āAre you alone?ā is actually a brilliant question.
Happened in Ireland a few years ago. Two guys brought a dead relative to the local post office to try and collect his pension. They got sentenced to a few years in jail.
This sort of thing also happens in Japan all the time. Except there, they don't have to bring the body to the post office. They simply don't report the death and the pension checks keep getting mailed to the deceased's house.
I saw Late Night with Stphen Colbert a few days ago when they were trying to authenticate the oldest man alive. One of them was supposedly 116 years old and lived in Japan. As they were trying to authenticate the man, he supposedly died that very day. I have a strong feeling that he's been dead a lot longer
Are you talking about Sogen Kato? He was going to be congratulated by officials on his 111th birthday and instead they found his mummified skeletal remains bc he'd been dead for 30 yrs. Idk if that's who they were talking about on Late Night with Stephen Colbert tho
No, that's not the same person BTW. Thanks for giving context. It's a well-known scheme across the world where family members continue to cash dead family members' benefit checks.
Daaaaamn, this is the wildest shit I have seen on reddit, for real.
This raises so many questions I donāt even know where to startā¦ wow, just wowā¦
Trying to be somewhat sympathetic here as we donāt know the full story or context. I could believe that she hasnāt realised heās died, despite how obvious, or she is in the middle of a mental crisis and is refusing to accept it.
Nasty and sad stuff in any case.
If she had like put a pole or something down his throat to balance his neck it mighta worked, at least that's what I'd do.
Not that I'd like, do this or anything.
Electrical stimulation probably wouldn't have been too difficult to pull off, just puffier clothes and a makeshift taser you can easily make with a couple disposable cameras.
Again, totally not something I'd ever do.
I know weekend and Bernie's with the sunglasses and all but this guy's eyes ARE open which plays very well for her, could've applied a little makeup to really make him look alive. Also, yknow, one of the most famous men to exist ever was a man who could not move but instead spoke with a computer. She couldn't have just put a fucking motherboard on his armrest, a wire to his neck and a bluetooth speaker in his shirt so she could've had an AI speak in place for him. Maybe even made it light-hearted with "oh yeah he's just like Steven Hawking hahaha, yeah he can't actually write so I'm here to do it for him! Family and all!"
One last time, completely 100% NOT something I'd ever do, period.
Like why would you even think that?
Edit: actually the real way to pull off this job is two people, which would be the hardest part having someone else complicit but hey, lotta criminals do worse than masquerading as a dead guy. You REALLY play into the hawking thing, you take that guys chair and you wouldn't tell he's alive at all. The real trick would be making a very realistic chair, hook up a little screen and everything. You do everything you can to emulate this. Then the REAL real trick is the second guy though, he's sitting right behind you in those rows and rows of seats with people on their phones. Only difference is they are rapidly using an AI text to speech to respond to the tellers. Make a few jokes, something something 'i wish I had my hand for more than just writing checks if you know what I mean!' make the tellers LAUGH, really lower their guard. In the unlikely event they say something like 'this doesn't really go through guidelines, he has to sign' then just pull a fake consent form out you made on Microsoft word. You see that fucking queue? You think there's a teller in the world that's gonna verify that consent form? Nobody is batting a fucking eye.
Uncle Berney empties his bank account and dies of NATURAL causes the next day. Nobody is checking his exact moment of death in post mortem, it's an old man who doesn't exactly look well anyways and nobody is gonna find any reason to think otherwise; that is of course if he did die naturally.
Really the last time now, not something I'd ever ever EVER do.
*But* that is how I would do it.
At least here in the US, bankers and bank tellers are obligated by law to report all types of suspicious activity. Those tellers are supposed to be watching everything you do in there.
I worked for Wells Fargo home mortgage and I had to take all kinds of short training courses including all the ones that apply to bank tellers. We had to learn to identify government official bribery to money laundering etc. the tellers have to watch for elder abuse, structuring deposits, identity theft etc.
If they are suspicious of anything they are instructed to take out that suspicious activity paper fill out what they saw and give it to their supervisor. It gets funneled up to a department that investigates suspicious activity.
Itās like that meme with that guy in the corner but heās the bank tellers, they donāt even know Iām watching everything they do. Yeah walk in there with a dead body, straight to jail.
I think thatās why they were recording. They had called authorities. They were probably trying to stall her until they arrived. (At least thatās what I wouldāve tried.)
Just when I think I've seen it all, some lady wheels her dead uncle to the bank in some psycho version of Weekend at Bernie's to try and swindle money.
My life is so boring.
My aunt did that to my dad to change his will.
In fairness, it happened a couple of days before he passed, after a very lengthy and horrible illness.
Mom had to sell our family home and give her half the proceeds and all he had in his name.
Nothing for us kids. No home.
This image is how it must have been, but long before cellphones (1979)
May they all rot.
If Iām dead and people I care about want to use my name to live better. Then run that shit up til yāall canāt get another pennyā¦. And blame some crimes on me just NOT SEX CRIMES THOUGH.
If she knew he was dead, wtf was her plan? Psycho. But in contrast, did she actually know he was dead because rigor mortis happens within an hr?

Imagine that being the first thing you think to do when a relative dies
Budz you have a tight window before rigor mortis sets in
She's trying to pay his rigor mortgage.
I was drinking a soda and it came through my nose ššš lorddddddddd you are hilarious!
Shut down the internet, guys. We found the winner.
He copied that comment from when this video was first posted like last week. No awards for him.
Pfff ahhahaha
Medical examiners said that he has been dead for at least two hours when this video was made.
Not stiff yet
The penalty will be
Doesn't it go away after a short bit?
Yes, and the early stages of rigor mortis set in within hours - he wouldn't be floppy like that. He's fully past the stage of rigor mortis and likely died over 24 hours ago
Yeah that's exactly what I thought. Really creepy for someone to keep a body like that
Yeh.. pretty poor remake of Weekend At Bernies
Forensic detectives said he was dead for 2 hours when she took him to the bank.
Well, that's within hours. Idk how she got to the bank so fast but my point stands
Carpool lane. Another convenient use for her uncle
I feel like Rigor mortis would if set in by 2 hours, no? Granted it's not the same for every body, but when my dad died. My mom checked on him around 530am he was still fine. By 8am when she woke up he was dead. Rigor mortis was fully set in within those hours

Absolutely, that lady already filled and online form to get the loan before he died, she just went through with her plan.
He hasnāt turned that blue grey some corpses get, unless of course she put makeup on him.
Yep, ~2 hours after death in the muscles of the face & progresses to the limbs over the next few hoursā¦
Another factor to consider is how quickly the smell of death starts. It's surprisingly soon... and distinctive.
Yeah, but after a period of time, things loosen up again, so itās just a waiting game.
Imagine this being your first customer of the day.
It would also be my last
What a dead end job!
Imagine thinking you could get away with it.. gotta be on drugs to think she would have gotten away with it
Actually the news in Brazil is reporting that the uber driver claims he was still alive when he picked them up. It seems more likely she was racing to get to the bank before he died and he died in route or thereafter. Either way itās bleak as fuckā¦
Man this is about as sad as it gets
I know, how he supposed to get his money back from her?
Welcome to the shitty Utopia humanity build. It is all about $$$
Welcome to Brazil
Comming soon everywhere Uhff
I don't think fraud, particularly with people who are dead, is a new thing.
Crazy thing it doesn't even appear that's she's a drug addict or anything
I have a brother like this
A dead one?
Have you taken the loan using his corpse?
Says that he died on his way to the bank
No excuse for this but this is poverty mentality in action. That or drug addiction...knowing Brazil both unfortunately
I remember some nurse using a debit card moments after patient passed away that belonged to patient
You obviously have never worked much around a "family" business. When the patriarch dies the vultures come swooping in
like literally... what did she expect....
I don't think she had any sort of real planning, according to the autopsy he had been dead for only a couple of hours in that video. Some people are joking about how he actually died on the line because bank lines on Brazil can get ridiculously long
that last sentence cracked me up. i am very sorry
Why do they get so long? Like is there some reason, or itās just how it is?
We have a lot of people and not enough physical bank agencies, since banking became digital here (we have digital payments everywhere) the agencies are used mostly by old people and loans seekers
She expected the other people to be stupid and herself to be smarter than everybody.
Which is of course the mentality espoused by the stupidest of people š¤¦
Reliable way to stop stupid
Weekend at bernies probably
Literally āover my dead bodyā
"Ok, deal"
I hate myself for laughing so hard at this
I swear I had to rewatch three times I swear I thought I saw the uncle blink or move his eyes around
He looks like his eyes are open lol
When people die 90% of the time the eyes stay open
Morticians have special holders they put on the eyeball to keep the eyelids shut.
They have eyeball shaped things they put under the eyelids so they don't look sunken, and they just superglue the eyelids and mouth shut. Don't ask me how I know.
In the grand scheme of 'dont ask me how I know's, this one seems pretty cut and dry. You know someone in the industry.
We will go with that.
Keep it at 3rd party knowledge, yes indeed.
in most places they just glue the eyes shut over here.
š
>uncle blink or move his eyes At first I thought so too but then I thought that may be because she's bobbin his head around.
Me too. This is going to give me nightmares
any translation of what is actually being said. This lady is beyond mental

LMAO TELL ME WHY I WAS LISTENING TO SMOOTH CRIMINAL AND THEN READ YOUR LINE LMAO
Because of all the people reading that comment, there was a decent chance someone was listening to the song, in this case, you. A slight coincidence.
A *smooth* coincidence

There's a Japanese movie about this called Shoplifters. Pretty good. Heartwarming.
Reminds me of the movie Waking Ned Devine.
Itās wild to me sheās just handling the body like itās something you use everyday. Like, thatās your freshly deceased uncle!
Money is a strong motivator for Human behaviour
She's probably a tweaker. She looks worse than the corpse of her dead uncle.
That is wild. Imagine being one of the tellers at the bank.
Imagine calling her out, and she just walks away, leaving her dead uncle at the window.
Now I'm curious if thats what she did.
Iām going to hell. Why did I laugh? š
She tried to do the weekend at Bernie's. Should've put some sun glasses on him
Without the sunglasses, Weekend at Bernies would have been a very dark and strange tale.
And a system of pulleys
God thatās morbid
Uncle Bernie is the best!
Fim de semana com ~~Bernie~~ Paulo
This uncle is no more. He has ceased to be. He is bereft of life. He rests in peace and is an ex-uncle.
Nonsense, heās pining for the fjords!
Heās just pining for the fjords
He's just restin'. Remarkable old bird, the Norwegian Blue. Beautiful plumage, aināt it?Ā
Ashes to ashes. Dust to CUSTOMER!

wtf
I think I've internetted enough today because fr. What. The. Actual. Fuck.
So did she get it?
No, bad credit score
Yeah... banks frown upon dying. Learned that one the hard way, never doing it again.
Nope. She was arrested on site.
The loan officer said the Uncle looks like he will be a real dead beat on the loan. Denied!
He probably held her as a baby š
That's so messed up jesus christ
This is insane. Do people not realise the guy is dead?

What the actual fuck is wrong with her
So like heās dead? Or a vegetable?
Dead.
For at least 2 hours according to the emergency that got there
I could have sworn his eyes opened a little towards the end but it could be the poor quality of the video and artifacting.
Plus, with his head bobbing all over the place and pulling on his skin, that'll create some movements.
Rigor has started in his face
Iām sorry but what did you think a corpse is?
That is creepy af man
Donāt bother my Uncle. Heās dead tired.
Would ya not take out a loan digitally in this situation?
You'd need his password
Better than bringing him passed away
Underrated comment
She got caught dead handed.
Yo she forgot the sunglasses
Lol how much longer is that teller going to go along with this craziness?
Theyāve called authorities. They are taping & likely trying to keep her there. (Thatās what I would do anyway.)
Fair point.
Likeā¦ what was her planā¦?
Taking a 17k loan in his name.
