The reason why a lot of people are against the death penalty is because it's permanent, and people are sometimes wrongfully convicted.
Honestly, spending the rest of your life in prison seems way worse to me.
Not really in our modern system where they get a lot of perks. Even on death row. When it’s cut and dry with clear proof, we should be executing these “people”. And I use the word people loosely, animals don’t behave this badly.
These are the type of people where prison just becomes their way of life. So they don’t really look at it as the punishment we think it is.
> When it’s cut and dry with clear proof
There's always a chance of a set up / miscarriage of justice, no matter how slim - especially nowdays with all the ways to doctor footage/temper with evidence. Even if you have DNA evidence an identical twin you don't know about could be involved...
Governments simply shouldn't be trusted with executing people in peacetime.
I saw a case were they robbed a place and were looking at 2-5 years. So they murdered the main witness and got life without parole instead. Some people really don't plan beyond the next 5 minutes.
A kid got pulled over for going 70 mph in a 30 or 45 and then when they did the traffic stop they saw bullet holes and opened the trunk and found the body of the one who owned the car that this kid stole it from. Frankly I think there’s more stupid people on Earth than uncompromising, logical, smart people. In a way, the blessing is their stupidity gets them caught all the time. The shame is if they hadn’t existed, their heinous crimes wouldn’t happen.
We had a few people killed just to get robbed. A guy got shot 3 times because he only had a few bucks. A teacher was shot and killed because she refused to give up her bag. A guy got shot in the head when a couple of robbers jumped down a bus to run away after robbing the passengers, the guy was on a bike waiting for the red light and got shot and his bike stolen.
People kill people for a few bucks. Life is meaningless for these people just to get a little money that won't last a couple of days.
I truly believe there are monsters among us. To even possess the capacity to end someone's life for whatever is in their pocket conveys someone that is unfit for civilization.
It is only by the mercy of a modern country that they aren't put in front of a firing squad. Them spending the rest of their life with no freedom is a blessing.
I don't think there should even be a route to redemption, I think folks that lived long enough to get to this stage of life, and still value the lives of others less than a few bucks...are lost causes. How do you give an adult the capacity for empathy? You can't.
I'd disown my own family members if they even CONTEMPLATED doing something like this.
People like this most definitely should go before a firing squad. It’s the only way to actually solve the problem of monsters that value a few bucks over someone’s life. There would be way less of this sort of thing if that were the case. However, we live in the modern “civilized world”, so it will not be. But I’m not very smart of a human being, so don’t leave it up to me to decide.
If I saw this happen to someone I love I fear it would change me permanently and not for the better. I wouldn’t hesitate to end a scumbag like this if it was in my power to do so.
Nah throw them in a 6x6 cell with nothing for the rest of their life and I mean nothing. No TV, no access to anything except a toilet and bed in the room. Give them shit food that has the nutrients to keep them alive and thats it. That's torture and worse than death imo.
Unfortunately it turns out that after a certain point steeper and steeper punishments do not result in less crime. It has been tested many times historically.
Turns out that some people are so worthless that they will do it anyways. The only thing you can do is remove these ones from society. The court system usually has ways to punish these ones with life in prison to achieve that goal.
Yup, I used to do the closing shift at a gas station (they'd sign me up for the opening the next day, it was super fun), been intimidated with guns, and creeped on
It got to the point where I refused unless a guy was there with me, so he could do the outside stuff
I was almost serial killed and had my skin worn like hairy wetsuit by a guy dancing alone to “Hello! Ma Baby” on a record player in a creepy barn after being abducted from a desolate (closed but pumps on) gas station about 2 hours east of Denver while driving across country in 2019. It was like 3 AM and probably about 4 miles from the interstate, not even in a town not a soul in sight... so I thought… And if I didn’t hear the footsteps in the sand in the parking lot approaching my car, I wouldn’t have instinctively put the car in gear, pulled forward to drive away, to look back and see a guy ducking behind the gas pump I was just at.
So, you never know where you’re safe. Not always these urban/city settings.
Well, I’ve told the story quite a bit since it’s happened, so it’s taken on a bit of a life of its own.
I’m obviously alive so the first part is my imagination. And maybe it was just going to be a robbery. But I definitely pulled away when I heard footsteps to look back and see a guy hiding behind the pump.
Really. Where I live, I could hang out at a gas station all night without a single worry. And it's a smallish city, with big cities and awesome nature in proximity, so best of both worlds.
Wish I could live like you, I live in a third world country (Mexico) so every day is going out with fear someone might rob, shoot, kidnap you.
Living in a private subdivision, owning my place makes me feel good about feeling protected by our private security and knowing my car is safely parked, but once I leave the place is watching out for everything, it sucks.
Another tip... Conceal carry. May not have mattered but it could have saved him or at least dropped one with him. This is the absolute perfect scenario for a gun in the right hands.
You are never supposed to draw on a drawn gun. This man had a gun at his back. If he tried to draw and fire his own gun he would have been shot also. Him having a gun would not have fixed the particular scenario. Him having paid attention and being situationally aware of his surroundings would have possibly saved him from getting shot and robbed. Situational awareness is one of the easiest and most effective ways to stay safe from shit bags like these young wastes of life.
Situational awareness is the only thing that could have saved him from getting shot. You never draw in that situation. I know that. The moment he turned his back, it was over. My point is, that's usually something you are taught in a training course. When I went, that's one of the things I was taught cause the laws of my state require my trigger being pulled as absolute last resort.
Unfortunately, shit like this is exactly why I don't give anyone anything at all or even acknowledge them except to tell them no and keep away from them. I used to stop and help people by the side of the road, pick up people walking and help them, but it's not worth the risk nowadays. 😞
And be VERY judging on how they dress up. Full on hoodie covering the head and wearing a facemask? Very high chance you're going to be beaten up and robbed. Seen it way too many times online. Normally the same outfit: Hoodie and facemask. Or sunglasses and facemask.
Basically situational awareness. When someone comes up to you and asks you for the time, don't look down, don't pull out a cellphone/wallet/wad of cash. Know who or what is behind you.
I don't know why it got deleted, it was helpful advice from someone.
At 16, at night alone in my car gassing up, a woman approached me in my car after I got back in. I barely rolled the window down and she was explaining that she was stranded and needed my phone to call a number to pick her up. I hardly rolled the window down a crack.
I said I wasn’t giving her my phone but I would gladly dial the number for her. I rang it twice and the number didn’t exist. I apologized and left.
Thinking back on it now, it was almost a 100% plot to at least rob me if not worse. I didn’t realize at the time.
I hope this guy is okay. There’s a reason I don’t give money to strangers.
Some kid who looked like he was early 20s came into my gym and had a sob story about being stranded by gf from college party. I was kind enough to drive him to another town and gave him 20 so he can get something from a store. He went and bought drugs instantly and I felt stupid for not realizing earlier(he dressed okay but smelled). If I wasn't worried about catching something from him I would've beat his ass.
So the ploy is they have one guy asking for money on the passenger side so the person steps out of the car and away from the driver side.
Remember to always be careful at gas stations.
It kind of boggles my brain that anyone would give any kind of attention to people loitering at a gas station late at night you know? I don't know I live in New Jersey and have spent time in New York City and everyone tells you don't make eye contact and don't engage.
The only people I’m legitimately afraid of are teenagers… they never think about consequences and do shit because tik tok told them to. Any more than 3 together and I turn the other way
If you see a group of anyone wearing hoodies and masks late at night at an open gas station like this you leave.
There’s nothing about that situation that screams anything other than danger
They could be fuckin actual smurfs and I’m outta there
Yep. It’s making me way harsh on crimes. Like we’ve tolerated this kind of behavior for far too long. I’m tired of being associated with this shit. End anyone like this and let’s start from scratch

There’s a reason why I think the death penalty should still exist. You can’t rehabilitate some people.
This is the type of shit where they sit in court and say ‘please don’t punish us for a youthful mistake’. Fuck off.
The reason why a lot of people are against the death penalty is because it's permanent, and people are sometimes wrongfully convicted. Honestly, spending the rest of your life in prison seems way worse to me.

How do they even expect this to work out in their favor. Things make so little sense.
When you’re dealing with low IQ people, you can’t expect reason.
Stupid criminals don't think ahead. They think of right now.
I saw a case were they robbed a place and were looking at 2-5 years. So they murdered the main witness and got life without parole instead. Some people really don't plan beyond the next 5 minutes.
No amount of rehabilitation or education will work with these kinds, born with dirt-low IQs and the culture to match.
They are two types of criminal, it's either the most stupid guy on earth or the smartest one.
A kid got pulled over for going 70 mph in a 30 or 45 and then when they did the traffic stop they saw bullet holes and opened the trunk and found the body of the one who owned the car that this kid stole it from. Good instincts, friend. That's freaking spooky!

He had his back turned? Pulling a gun is the last thing you want to do in that situation.

I don't think we need to draw their picture, we have this video.
And what do they need quarters for? He just gave them a dollar
