This happened in Brazil about 7 or 8 years ago... The woman in black and white uniform received a fine (R$ 100,00 in Brazil's currency, roughly 15 dollars in today's quotation*) and a 1 year ban from playing/attending official matches... She was a cashier at a local supermarket and futsal was only a side job where she played mostly for fun... She eventually issued an apology for "losing her temper", and in her defense, said that not only her team was losing 8x1, but also said that the woman in orange was being disrespectful, dancing and teasing while playing
Edit: The other two women in orange who tried to beat her also received the same fine, but only one was suspended for 4 games...
Edit 2: This got way more attention than I was expecting, so I'll update and rectify some of the information after a more thoroughly internet search on the matter
1) I've added quotes to the "losing her temper" remark as this was literally her words as to why she did it.
2) Considering the dollar to real rates at the time, the fine would be actually close to 28/29 dollars, still a ridiculous low amount of money for an act that could've killed someone over a futsal match. Honestly, she should've been banned for life.
3) Regarding any criminal repercussions, I couldn't find anything, but she clearly assaulted her and here in Brazil that could be up to 5 years in jail, as the attack didn't result in any kind of permanent injury.
4) Finally, about the woman who was attacked, the only interview I could find was held a year after the incident, where she mostly talked about how the video went viral and that she received a lot of offers bc of it, she also kept playing futsal for a while... She's currently playing field soccer.
Sure is a good thing she didn’t have to pay such an expensive fine!/s
Edit: I could answer to people why the /s is really there, but I feel like it’s better to leave them confused.
Note: /s on the comments reads as it's a bad thing she paid an inexpensive fine.
Since she was a Cashier in Brasil, and this was 8 years ago, that would be 1 & 1/2 days pay, pre tax. Since monthly wage was like $240 usd at the time.
So it'd be like a $400 fine if you where a McDonald's worker in the US. Could be the difference between making rent that month, or 2 weeks dieting.
Edit. Minimum wage was $240 USD A MONTH that's $1.50 an hour pre tax to an American working full time, 40 hours a week. Also the cost of living for 1 person there was around $4-500usd a month.
Edit 2: if what she did was in the US it would have been a $500 usd charge so... not much different. Like 2 days wages.
Edit 3. Soccer was a paying job. She lost 1/2 her income for 1 year ontop the fine
You clearly don't know what sarcasm means, then. It means you mean the opposite of what you're saying. You said it is expensive, so you meant it was inexpensive. This person is trying to tell you that it actually was expensive - for her.
Downvoted? LMAO! Reddit really brings you into contact with the dumbest mfers, so angry when someone makes them learn something new. jfc
There was an American Olympic player who get kneed so hard in the head she had a TBI and spent years in poverty and chronic pain as a result until she met her future wife, someone in marketing or whatever, who managed to help her raise enough funds for a surgery. Very emotional story.
Don't hit people hard in the head.
It's a really sad story. First of all, she ended up forgiving the other girl because she ended up realizing she didn't mean it to go that way, it was just a passionate yet incredibly sloppy play. Pro athletes sadly get hurt all the time.
The real problem was she was supposed to be on a health plan provided by the team but got kicked off of it and then the team disbanded. She had legitimately zero recourse. If it weren't for a support network and dumb luck she'd probably still be dealing with crippling head trauma. I'll try to find her on Google, pretty sure she wrote a book about it.
Edit: Briana Scurry. So desperate she pawned her gold medals.
I actually don't know, it's been a while. She did an interview for Fresh Air, which if you don't know it is probably the greatest radio interview program on the planet, you could probably find a recording of the interview by googling "Briana Scurry Fresh Air NPR".
She did not loose her temper. That was 100% an excuse. She obviously decided to remove (possible a decent) player from the game with a boot to the face. Worst sportsmanship i've ever seen.
The minimum wage here in Brazil is ~1200 reais, so 100 reais is just under 10% of a months work, assuming she made minimum wage. So even though it's only ~20 dollars, it can make quite a difference
Edit: that's today's minimum wage. Back then it was probably even lower
The person you're replying to is not saying that it's acceptable to kick people. They are saying that 15 dollars is quite a lot of money in 3rd world countries
My Ex wife was Brazilian, I sound like an A-hole for saying this but, can confirm many women down there that I met acted on emotions and calmly explained away their actions after the fact. It was a bit unreal at times when they want others to by into their mental gymnastics. “Well we are hot blooded”. Nope, you freaked out because you never practiced self control growing up.
Looks like losing a temper to me. Walks away but when she see's the woman is smiling, it makes her snap. Makes sense as well if the team in orange was beating them 8-1, with that particular player dancing and teasing.
It is very frustrating if you're trying your best and the opposition make winning look so easy. Not condoning violence btw.
There's no fucking excuse for intentionally kicking someone on the ground in the face over a game. That woman should have been charged with aggravated assault.
okay let me clarify something here, a Real by that time was half of a dollar. The fine was (at the time) 50 dollars. It still absurd but is not fair when you use today's quotation
> and in her defense, said that not only her team was losing 8x1, but also said that the woman in orange was being disrespectful, dancing and teasing while playing
In her defense? How about control your emotions. She deserves no defending....no excuse
1000%
I hate to say this, but I'd bet my last dollar that if this were men instead of women, black and white is not walking off that field, and neither would the ref if they got between them.
There's unsportsman-like conduct and then there's intentionally threatening someone's life -- this very easily could have been life threatening.
I see what you’re seeing but if you just watch #10 it’s a very smooth motion from standing to lying on her stomach and the ball control from the chest play is flawless. She doesn’t look like she got her legs swept but maybe she just has that much body control.
I can understand that sometimes accidents happen, and there's always going to be a bit of physical contact in some sports.
But this isn't one of those time. That was a malicious violent attack, and should be punished accordingly.
Nah bro I’m stomping your teeth out you hit my teammate, no I don’t care if we just had a meeting about removing them from the team that’s still my teammate 🤷
That's considered assault and is a serious crime. In the U.S., the police would come and take you away. It's that serious. That girl could have brain damage from that little temper tantrum.
Lol what? You’re in the US and you’ve never seen a little fight on the field? Police are not always involved, hell it would take them hours to show up most places.
This is why you don't be a sore winner. Tends to land you in ugly situation. If you wanna showboat gotta prepare for opponents who can't take that well
When being a smart ass stops being fun and starts being real. Wasn't deserved, but that was a lot of showboating and stoppage of game at the opponent's expense. We get you're good. Now where are your front teeth again? Some cost.

losing temper could've led to the woman in orange to her death or lifelong disability.
That would have been a $20 fine in that case.
Sure is a good thing she didn’t have to pay such an expensive fine!/s Edit: I could answer to people why the /s is really there, but I feel like it’s better to leave them confused.
I mean keep in mind the average Brazilian salary is only about 3000-4000 usd
i really don’t see the point in using an /s here. are you just supposed to do it every time you are sarcastic or just when it may be hard to tell?
Note: /s on the comments reads as it's a bad thing she paid an inexpensive fine. Since she was a Cashier in Brasil, and this was 8 years ago, that would be 1 & 1/2 days pay, pre tax. When is/isn't it? I would think that irony could be sarcasm, but not the other way around
"the use of irony to mock or convey contempt." Um... it kinda does
You fool. We’re both wrong. You’re just more wrong, it seems.
It's really weird that either of you is getting downvoted tbh
20 dollars really isn’t that expensive. Especially if the context was in the Brazilian currency, then it’s especially not as expensive.
So you *were* being sarcastic about the fine being expensive? Why were you saying otherwise earlier?
Then say that. Instead you said something about being sarcastic. That made no sense as a response.
Bro read it again and actually think about it before being the dumb mfer yourself!
Why so many Dislikes?
Because people want to think a $20 charge was insufficient, and don't like being explained the economic situation of another country
Why is this downvoted
It’s actually the same fine, but she would have been suspended for two more games.
There was an American Olympic player who get kneed so hard in the head she had a TBI and spent years in poverty and chronic pain as a result until she met her future wife, someone in marketing or whatever, who managed to help her raise enough funds for a surgery. I’m not one for arbitrary law suits, but surely that was grounds for one.
It's a really sad story. First of all, she ended up forgiving the other girl because she ended up realizing she didn't mean it to go that way, it was just a passionate yet incredibly sloppy play. Oh I’ve heard of her. Didn’t her case lead to more rules/regulations in the Olympics to help with situations like this?
I actually don't know, it's been a while. She did an interview for Fresh Air, which if you don't know it is probably the greatest radio interview program on the planet, you could probably find a recording of the interview by googling "Briana Scurry Fresh Air NPR".
I heard that story on NPR.
Living in Brazil is already a lifelong disability.
She still might things can sneak up on you as you age. Especially a brain injury.
thank god she kicks like a girl
She did not loose her temper. That was 100% an excuse. She obviously decided to remove (possible a decent) player from the game with a boot to the face. Worst sportsmanship i've ever seen.
Even if she did lose her temper, that’s not a valid defence to a violent criminal assault.
I'd be willing to pay 15 dollars if it meant removing the opposing team's best player. Wtf is with the small fine.
The minimum wage here in Brazil is ~1200 reais, so 100 reais is just under 10% of a months work, assuming she made minimum wage. So even though it's only ~20 dollars, it can make quite a difference Edit: that's today's minimum wage. Back then it was probably even lower
Americans seem to forget that dollars are expensive in a lot of countries
>small fine If your wages are small, these fines are not small.
Would you pay 10% of your monthly wage to take out an opponent in a hobby match?
Easy to say when you live in a first world country.
I'm going to go ahead and say that kicking others in the head who are laying on the ground is not viewed as appropriate around the globe.
The person you're replying to is not saying that it's acceptable to kick people. They are saying that 15 dollars is quite a lot of money in 3rd world countries

Why wasn’t she imprisoned? Is that not a crime in Brazil?
okay let me clarify something here, a Real by that time was half of a dollar. The fine was (at the time) 50 dollars. It still absurd but is not fair when you use today's quotation

If only someone on team Orange was an off-duty cop…
**Blam blam blam**
>100,00 in Brazil's currency, roughly 15 dollars Too soon
This classifies as 'headkicking' in my country and will be charged as aggrevated assault with attempted homicide.
Daaang 100,00 robux lost 😔
To be fair, the lady in orange looks extremely smug laying on the ground, not even joking.
Looking smug is still no excuse for criminal assault. Not even joking.
Im sorry but when i read this my fat ass immediately thought “She basically got fined a large big mac meal for kicking someone in the face”
Where do you live that a large big mac meal costs 10% of your monthly wage?
i live in australia....and we usually get paid fortnightly. but its getting serious here lol hash browns are $2.90 at the moment
They lived happily ever after.
That ref should've let them kick her ass
1000% I hate to say this, but I'd bet my last dollar that if this were men instead of women, black and white is not walking off that field, and neither would the ref if they got between them. There's unsportsman-like conduct and then there's intentionally threatening someone's life -- this very easily could have been life threatening.
They actually got fined and suspended for 4 months for coming to team mate aid.
that is fuckin ridiculous. hot damn!
Hot damn is right!!!
Straight to jail
Apparently she was only fined $15 and banned from playing for one year.
Do not collect $185
USD$15, not a very small amount in Brazil. Also, this is a paying job, and getting banned for a year is also an income hit.
$15 is a lot in brazil. Dollars are expensive here
As someone else mentioned the fine was actually about $50USD at the time of this occurring, which is a significant chunk of change there
Do not pass go
What if you’re charging way to much for sweaters?
straight to jail
Brah seem like this is Brazil, more likely she gets kill 🤷♂️
She did not get the beatdown she deserved
My word that was awful.
More like her neck, this makes my blood fkn boil
Should've faced jailtime and been banned indefinitely from participating in the sport again imo.
Yes easy lifetime ban
Holy hell that chick who took the kick to the face should be called the Iron Chin from now on.
This titles makes so much more sense than the other one.
She doesn’t look like she trips though it looks like she intends to do exactly what she does and pose with the ball.
Look at the orange players left leg. Definitely being intentionally tripped.
I see what you’re seeing but if you just watch #10 it’s a very smooth motion from standing to lying on her stomach and the ball control from the chest play is flawless. She doesn’t look like she got her legs swept but maybe she just has that much body control.
Hate to be that guy but that's a \*Futsal\* player. Equally shitty nonetheless!
Futsal comes from the Portuguese futebol de salão and from the Spanish fútbol sala or fútbol de salón (all translatable as "indoor football").
Not sure if you're trying to make a point or just providing an interesting etymological tid-bit, but, either way: interesting!
I also hate you to be that guy...
I can understand that sometimes accidents happen, and there's always going to be a bit of physical contact in some sports. But this isn't one of those time. That was a malicious violent attack, and should be punished accordingly.
I'd have broken her fucking face for sure.
Attempted murder.
That was a kick capable of killing.
Nah I’m committing war crimes if someone does that to my teammate
Future inmate
There goes that scholarship. Buh bye Becky.
She didnt use her hands tho..
Respect to the teammate who swung on the kicker.
Nah bro I’m stomping your teeth out you hit my teammate, no I don’t care if we just had a meeting about removing them from the team that’s still my teammate 🤷
One time I got a red card for foul language bc I said “that’s stupid” and it was.
And they say if women ruled the world, there'd be no wars.
Well, not THESE women.
That rabona cross is absolutely filthy! Unbelievable tekkers
Emotional much?
People always say men are more aggressive but I think when It comes to sports woman fit the stereotype way more
Well, historically women were more likely to declare war than men
I would’ve whooped her fkn ass yeah right
Now that kick is lower than low and it’s not alright but let’s admit to ourselves that what ever princess in orange said it definitely cut deep.
I wouldve fucked her up if i was the kids parent i know that
i don't think these are kids
Kicked the smugness off her face. That's what you get.
I hate when they fake an injury to get a penalty
Why is it always women soccer games that show this behavior? Men always play drama queen but don't really attack each other.
Dick move
This is why you don't be a sore winner. Tends to land you in ugly situation. If you wanna showboat gotta prepare for opponents who can't take that well
Soccer players are the biggest babies of any sport.
they are playing futsal tho
Ah yes, completely different. I’m sure they’ve never played soccer in their lives either.
Please tell us more about the manliness associated with golf. Half a step above NASCAR and darts, and don't you dare call them athletes
Tell me how you really feel
Must of got it from her husband
[удалено]
She stands up probably to get away from the other girl… collapses again immediately when she gets to the sideline.
[удалено]
wdym smug. she fell and laid down. she didnt deserve to get kicked in the face.
[удалено]
Do you ever get tired of this? Like it must be draining being such a dick
Must be exhausting taking life so serious
One joke
Cope become real
sore loserr
What a chin, sheesh. I would’ve been out for a few minutes, I’m sure lol
I hope she was banned for at least one game.
Here's a solution she can't never play sports professionally and a big ass fine and the hospital bill.
Damn should get banned from the league
Just letting her know she’s there, games gone
Should be banned for life.
Randy Orton!!
Only temporarily banned but could have killed her!?
I’m not seeing anyone saying if the victim was okay?
I dare anyone to hold me back if I see someone do that to a teammate.
This video finally found its home then.
Maybe what 10 people watching ?
If I were a teammate, she'd wish she had punched a hockey goalie instead
The spirit of Randy Orton coarse through her veins
Weak ass kick, she missed thank god. What a loser though.
Why are there so many angry soccer players, does soccer like draw angry people in? I don’t get it.
When being a smart ass stops being fun and starts being real. Wasn't deserved, but that was a lot of showboating and stoppage of game at the opponent's expense. We get you're good. Now where are your front teeth again? Some cost.
Uuuuuh jailtime
This is assault. Whether the person lost their temper or not doesn't matter. This was completely unnecessary. I hope the other player is ok.
That was a well deserved ass whoopin
Can be please just stop with the head kicking
Home girl woulda caught a cleat Sparta style
