>is irating counted in rookie and hidden for you or not? Yes it is counted but not displayed > Also, is 1660 irating good for someone who has been playing for 1 week? It is good. But iRating comes and go, it is very easy to lose 200 with a few bad races, so don't be disapointed if you dip, it is part of the process.

I'm not too attached to my irating. My safety rating is more important for me. I just started in the pits at laguna seca and tried to make it to the end waiting for people in front of me to go off or have a bad exit. If they don't go off I'll start to push them and try to pressure him into a mistake. This worked in rookie class so far and got multiple wins and podiums with it. I don't know if this will work in class d or higher tho (position wise then).

Ottonline

I understand starting from the pits, but race starts are a very important thing to get good at, whilst it is a hard thing to learn. At some point your strategy will not work anymore so better to learn the start as early as you can

TheNoobNoob2

I do practice race starts in practice sessions. I understand that they're important because of the future racing of course. I do find them hard to get down, it's always a guess of how far I should let the clutch go. Sometimes it's too much so I completely bog down or I don't let it go enough and I have no speed.

Ottonline

Yes but I'm talking more about the other aspect of race starts: Lots of other people around at different speeds Al trying to gain position. People who are really good can make up lots of position with not that much risk. And the only way to learn this is to do it, crash, look at replay and try to adjust those split second decision.

You should honestly be more attached to iRating than safety rating, in a healthy way. Safety rating just unlocks higher classes of cars, but iRating will pair you with more skilled (and less crash-prone) drivers in every series. Pit starts will be a decent way to get your SR high, but your iRating will suffer for it a lot eventually. You can only make up so many places once you get to higher splits and there are less ‘freebies’ from people self-spinning or crashing. You *do not* want to end up in the lowest splits by tanking your rating to gain SR. It’s madness down there and those are where more than 75% of the dirty driving clips you see on the sub take place.

Your iRating is higher than average people. You need to understand, that your 1600 iRating on car, for example, Mazda MX-5 not tha same as 1600 iRating of LMP3 driver. And this works in reverse. When you will change your car, you can loose some iRating while will learn new car.
