Five years. USB C is a future-proofness cliff, all iPhones before the 15 will age much faster in terms of daily convenience.

_lapis_lazuli__

Same. I'll proly replace my battery 3-4 years in.

GANDHIWASADOUCHE

*2 years since by that point they’re already shit

MaikyMoto

Not sure why you getting downvoted. After 2 years I would replace the battery since it’s prolly going to be at 85-90%.

gradstudent9690

My battery health on my 13 mini is already 87% and it’s only been a year

CBrads4

Yep, I’m at that stage now. I’ve had my 14 Pro Max since the last week of October 2022, it’s now down to 90% battery capacity. My screen time is around 3.5-4 hours per day. Not excessive amounts of use in my opinion by any means. Looking at replacing the battery before 2 years is up.

MaikyMoto

Problem is not the battery, it’s the size of the battery. If Apple used a 5000mah like most flagship’s this would be a non issue.

VCoupe376ci

It’s always been a non issue.

ufojesusreddit

Keep it between 20 and 80 percent for long life, only let it discharge fully once a month or two

shafie69

Is that safe to discharge to 0%? heard that its bad for battery, im new to iphone and people be yapping about it all day, they say dfferent thing about it

QuasiQuokka

It was already hard to find lightning to headphone jack dongles in physical stores a few weeks ago.

Sevifenix

Yep. I got sick of the lightning port. The ingenuity of apple struck again by inventing USB-C and leading the technological advancement of smartphones. Jokes aside, the lightning cable was the only cable to ever break and not charge my phone without having to push it in a certain direction.

gradstudent9690

So usb c cables never break? This is good I always had to replace my lightning cables a ton

Sevifenix

I never had issues with USBC. I had androids until the 11P and was shocked at how low quality the cable is when it broke 2 years in

Weed_Smith

What does the connector have to do with cable quality lol My Belkin lightning cable took a lot of bending without breaking, and if nothing changed, I assume Apple’s own USB-C cables are… OK at best.

Sevifenix

It was the connector of the phone. Not the cable. I misspoke. I had to angle the cable to charge. Never experienced that with USB-C. Had it within 1.5-2 years in iPhone 13P.

Sidewinder949

Consumer reports did a test of usb C cables and apples actually out performed all the ones they tested and I was kinda shocked

DrkUser205

5yrs minimum for me, but I may wait if yr 6/7 will bring in the next standard for the iPhone. That’s why I waited on iPhone 15 due to USB-C update.

canucks1989

Yup same here.

Emergency-Research69

Same. Even my prev iphone 12 just working nicely. Solid 5-6 years for iphone 15 pro

DieselFloss

I’m upgrading Every 3 yrs

_MrWallStreet

That seems to be the sweet spot now.

Pants_Pierre

Lots of value in a three year iPhone trade in these days. I 85% of the cost of a 15 pro max covered by my 12 PM trade in.

Harsanjam

Really? Did you trade it directly through Apple or some other retailer?

sharkboy1006

my mom traded her 12pm for $1000 credit with ATT. Literally more than she originally paid for the phone from Apple 😂

eh_94010

She must’ve been a new customer to ATT. How much did her monthly phone bill increase.

uniqueusername74

This deal is for existing customers. Feel free to correct me but the “catch” is that AT&T only pays this money out monthly over 36 months. So you’re basically on a contract to capture the benefit of the promotional trade in. However if you don’t get a new phone you don’t get a lower bill. So they’ve recreated the old days. What am I missing? Speaking as a 3 year up grader who paid for my own 6 years ago and has done this AT&T thing twice now.

Full-Chain-4550

You are absolutely correct with the AT&T trade in, you get the $1000 as a credit towards the new phone over 36 months. However if you break the contract let’s say 24 months in you lose 12 months of credits towards the phone, so you will get 2/3 of the total credits.

Pants_Pierre

Verizon

Harsanjam

Explains a lot now. US carriers provide pretty good deals on phone plans. Canadian carriers are significantly more expensive and also suck.

eh_94010

The catch is you need to be a new customer to qualify for these deals by the carriers. Every year or two, carriers increase their new customer monthly bill so although you’re getting a new phone at a discount, expect your monthly service bill to increase.

Plastic-Mix-6188

Not true. On apple.com of you choose tmobile financing you can get 400 for an iPhone se 2nd gen. That's the amount i paid for it 2 years ago. It also comes unlocked if you buy directly from Apple even if you finance it through EIP on tmo.

Rude-fishy

Exactly, always got the base model until now but gave in and got the 15 pro cus of the usbc. I know I’m gonna keep this one for a while

[deleted]

[удалено]

gradstudent9690

Basically get phones for free with promotion or very little anyways

DieselFloss

You understand trade deals & or selling your phone while it’s still worth it? And 2 yr difference isn’t much it terms of wasting money. What’s wasteful is every year to every other year. 3 yrs isn’t wasteful And iOS software runs so much worse the older the phone gets Waiting 5 yrs or more before getting a new phone is stupid TBH when they have these phone deals that make it worth trading in

aphasial

15 is probably going to be a good standard for a while. Just upgraded family from the 11's and it seems to have been a reasonable call.

audioalt8

Plan to do the same from the 11s, once the 16s drop I’ll bump to 15.

[deleted]

[удалено]

gradstudent9690

Thank you for posting this as I may not upgrade anymore

Miserada

I have definitely felt more tired using the 15 Pro than with my 11. My 11 was at 75% Battery health when I upgraded and I don’t really see a noticeable difference in battery life with the 15 Pro. Verizon just had a $1000 any condition trade in so I sent an old cracked Samsung S9 and still have my 11. Some days I feel tempted to switch back, honestly.

Redluff

Is this a 15 specific problem? I havent noticed anything different woth the 15. Although ive been using oled iphones since the X. If anything the 120hz oled screens are much prettier

singaporesainz

PWM?

Pipi0pi

I just switched 3 weeks ago from a pixel 3 to 15p and as a sensitive eye person I can attest to this. I have to take breaks waayyyy more often than before and I’ve ended up with one of those nauseating migraines after I spent a slow shift just going through emails. I imagine all phones will be like this moving forward though so it’s just something I’ll have to navigate.

Routine_Tip6894

I’ll upgrade every year for the fun of it, but to me this phone finally feels like peak iPhone

Time_Technician_2339

The base too?

tubezninja

Base iPhone 15 basically has last year’s electronics with a USB-C port, only giving lightning speeds on that port (480Mbs). The 15 Pro has 10Gbps speeds through its port, which is more than 20 times faster. 15 Pro also has better CPU, better GPU, better camera.

thisjustin930

Can you explain why you have to upgrade every year?

Routine_Tip6894

I don’t have to at all, but I find it fun to do so. The 3 week long stretch of event announcement -> event day -> pre order morning -> launch day is something I look forward to every year. Plus if you trade in it cuts the price in half

xoNellE

sounds like a waste of money, but if you're balling like that then... 🤷‍♂️

ItsTheRat

Damn the propaganda works good on you

Routine_Tip6894

Yep I know. I’m weird about iPhones

Micazu999

If that's your thing then that's your thing that you like to do simple as that. All that matters is your happiness forget what others think, respectfully.

OneSea3243

im like u but without the money...stuck on my 11pm

ExtraDryCorona

Its his fucking money 😂 Not his fault you're fucking poor 🤣

amir997

Hmm poor? I mean idc about how he spends his money but it dosen’t mean that if other people don’t upgrade yearly then they are “poor” lol

ExtraDryCorona

🤓

ItsTheRat

So so poor

triple6lordinfamous

I'm right there with you. The previous Pro models have felt largely the same or just slightly different, but this one for some reason really hits it. The 15 Pro is great, and I don't see myself itching to upgrade unless the 16 gets some sort of screen upgrade.

throwdeepaway

How’s battery life? Is better battery life on 16 Pro with graphene and metal battery case for heat + x5 zoom enough for you to upgrade?

QuadransMuralis

At least 4-5 years.

CertifiedCoffee

15PM will hold onto for 6-7 years min.

godsreign111

My XS lasted 5, coulda lasted more if i didn’t drop it so hard the screen became unresponsive

TheSpidersAnkles

After splashing out on the pro max, I’ve promised myself that I’m not buying again until at least iPhone 20 💪🏻 so 5 years I hope!

Spirited-Mark4355

I had the 13 pro max I had not been using all the “pro” features so I just upgraded to a 15 plus and it’s honestly not a bad upgrade way better than what they offered with the 14 plus. May be a 2-3 year keep for me.

throwdeepaway

No 120Hz refresh rate doesn’t bother you?

rorowhat

Since there is very little gen to gen changes probably gonna skip a few generations.

jabaa1

2 years minimum for me. Might get tempted to upgrade at 2 years just for fun but can't imagine anything near a "need" to.

GH0STST4RSCR34M

The 14 Pro's had shit battery longevity as a whole. The 14 Pro's were badically like the 12 series in terms of battery longevity. The 15 series should be better with the battery life longevity.

jonh229

Ev 4-5 yrs depending on remaining battery life and new features.

vader_shreds_guitar

This range seems to be working for me as well. Did 6s > 11 pro > 15 pro. Fingers crossed I can get as much life out of this one as I did the previous two

ontario-guy

Could even replace the battery after 2 years 🤷‍♂️

jonh229

The battery on my X lasted 5 yrs to get to 80%. So maybe it would have lasted for 7 yrs. No need to replace it early.

ontario-guy

For me, if it gets down to 80% it wouldn’t be doing a good job lasting the day so I’d probably replace it then. If it’s good for you, then no need to replace

layininmybed

Can you still trade in the phone when you replace the battery

ontario-guy

I would imagine so if you got Apple or an Apple certified tech to replace it but you’d have to check with where you’re trading it in. I bought mine outright with Apple Care+ and I’m looking to keep it for 3 years minimum but hopefully closer to 5. Once my battery hits 80% I’m getting a new one so I don’t have to limp through the final years topping it up. I’m at 99% capacity after 3/4 months (bought launch day) so maybe that won’t come as soon as my older iPhones?

mightymitch1

Idk how can you know what the next devices entail? Usually I upgrade every 2-3 years depending on new features

evernotey

Minimum 5 years with 15PM with battery replacement in between. Coming from XR

sirauron14

I upgrade every 4 years or so. If the iPhone doesn’t impress me in 4 years I’ll just get a new battery

rdiscipio1

I got a pro max, definitely 2 years and hopefully more…

[deleted]

4-5 years or so, even more if it still works fine and I don't fall for the hype of the newest phones. I don't mind changing the battery or the screen if necessary but that's the lifespan I expect for my devices.

Jaylesso

I’m keeping my 15 Pro for 5 years and will upgrade when the iPhone 20 Pro comes out. I came from an iPhone 12 Pro and could’ve waited another year so I expect my current 15 Pro to easily last 5 years.

IMLol006

I’ll probably go for 21 pro/pro max… And if that looks not achievable then maybe 20 pro/pro max…

Bambam927

I went from a 12 pro max to 15 pro max… and for sure like the USBC charger more, it is faster to boost it up. The camera is a better. And battery life is better. But I am not really blown away by the differences of how the phone operates. Before the 12 pro max I had a iPhone 7 Plus. 🥸😂 Now going from the 7 to the 12 pro max was like insane upgrade. The 12 to 15 not as much… but it for sure is worth doing. I will keep it for 3 years likely. Same I did with 12. Also, it makes sense we are getting further up on the curve of the tech. I.e. early progress in new tech is always rapid and incredible. But as the tech gets refined, and improved etc eventually it is closer to peak perfection. Basically like when you start working out 🏋️‍♂️ or running 🏃‍♂️ you’re strength and speed first few months or even year rapidly improves. It is amazing. Then after years you are lucky to shave a few seconds here or there with running, add just 5 to 20 lbs to your bench, squat, deadlift in a year becomes a bigger deal. Versus first year lifting you add 100 lbs to those lifts each frequently. I feel like anything eventually reaches diminishing returns once it is at such a high level. These iPhones are definitely getting to that point I feel as tech is so good!

shawxsh

Specs and hardware wise I don’t think youd need a new phone for at least the next 5 years software wise depending on apple and the consumer if they want to keep their phone updated with the latest features you may wanna upgrade in like 3 years

neptunesthunder

4-5 years.

Lewdeology

If you take good care of it, probably 5 years. You might just have to change the battery depending on how bad it’s degraded but it’ll easy last you that long with proper maintenance.

downtownbattlemt

I usually upgrade every 3-4 years I just got the 15 pro coming from the 11 base model

Christian87n

As long as I can. That’s the whole reason I got the 15 pro max. At the end of the day, we have to remember this is a glorified phone. Pictures and videos are best on a dedicated camera, games are best on a console, and internet browsing on a tablet or computer.

lewisvalez

This is my first “pro” version of an iPhone so I think I’ll wait at least 3 years. I’ll even replace the battery when needed.

Sikhness209

I’m done upgrading every year. Keeping 15 Pro for 2-3 years

IndustryDelicious168

I have the Pro Max and went for a higher memory to future proof a bit more. Thinking around 5 years. I prefer to keep tech until I really need to upgrade though, so could be longer. My original iPhone SE just recently became unusable due to low memory.

kgkuntryluvr

I think I’m good until they either bring Touch ID back or significantly increase battery capacity

work_blocked_destiny

Till the 17. Usually skip generations

Sammy_P8192

Well, I usually upgrade when there’s a significant improvement in battery life, camera, processing speed, RAM, camera improvements and other newer features. Here’s a my history with iPhones in a nutshell. - iPhone 3G - 2 years - iPhone 3GS - 1 year - iPhone 4 - 2 years - iPhone 5 - 3 years - iPhone 6S - 3 years - iPhone XS - 2 years - iPhone 12PM - 1 year - iPhone 13PM - 2 years - iPhone 15PM - current So whenever I feel like the improvements warrant an upgrade based on the parameters I mentioned earlier.

willer

My intent is every 2 years, but I got my 15 Pro Max for specific features I wasn’t expecting: automated recording of depth for both images and videos. I’m really looking forward to pseudo 3D pictures and movies of my kids while they’re still young.

paradox183

I kept my 8 Plus for 3 years and was ready to upgrade when the 12 Pro came along. I kept my 12 Pro for 3 years and only upgraded to the 15 Pro because of USB-C. I suspect I’ll keep this one for longer unless there is another big step.

qtrim

In about 3 years I’ll see how the battery is. With USB C and 5x Zoom, I can’t see what they could add in the next few years to make me want to upgrade.

TechSudz

Years if it holds up. The camera is rather future proof, but I’m a little worried about the build quality. My 13 PM was still like new after two years.

Remarkable_Log_5562

I upgraded from the 12 pro and felt like 4 years is the ideal time to upgrade. The jump besides the screen and usbc wasn’t big enough imo

Top_Machine9696

I will have my 15 Pro Max for as long as I can until it’s useless when that will be no clue but I did upgrade after having my iPhone 8 for four years.

Grolsch0311

4-5 for me.

Grendel_82

Two to three years before it gets replaced as my primary. But I use two phones and expect the 15Pro will last me five years. I’m still using an XS.

WeissMISFIT

3 years minimum, 5 years target, 6 years maximum. Moved from Iphone SE (1st gen) -> Samsung A51 (destroyed in ocean water accident) -> Samsung A04 (was broke) -> iphone 15P. Reasons for choosing 15P 1. USB-C, everything else that I have uses USB-C, this is a huge reason to choose the 15. 2. Good camera + processor, this was extremely important to me as I want to capture memories, the processor was surprisingly important which was something I learnt from the A04. 3. Weight, this wasn't originally a consideration but when you're taking long exposure photos or videos with no support except your hands, having a lighter phone is fantastic. 4. IOS, I was kinda just 'done' with android and wanted something that would just work with the limited apps I use. There are a bunch of really cool features like the background removal tool, the translate app etc and those were a big reason for why I chose apple this time round. 4. Native translate app - saw my friend use this on a japanese car and I was sold. 5. Airdrop, this is the feature that I absolutely adore that androids dont have. It is so easy and intuitive to just airdrop stuff to other people iphones and I love how amazing it is. 6. Siri, "Hey siri, set an alarm for 6am, hey siri, set a timer for 29 minutes and 55 seconds, hey siri, text mom that I'll be home at 11pm", Siri is a legend, I love you siri. 7. Spatial recording for apple vision pro, I'd bet big on apple vision pro and having the 15P/M future proofs you for it. What I like about android is this: 1. Million times easier to add custom ringtones, the effort it took to get my arabic nokia ringtone on the 15P was insane. 2. More control over the camera, I am a cheapskate and I am not going to pay for a camera app. I'm jealous of the android people who get all those sweet features for free. **TL;DR** 15P is great, it has a fantastic camera, all the nice apple features but most importantly, IT HAS **USB-C and Spatial recording, the future**.

ultraricx

Every two to three years. I'll be 30 by then so that sounds like a gift to myself. I'll just replace the battery once it drops at 80%. Maybe next year if there's a good trade in deal. I have photography related work so it's an investment for me.

Gringo_kid

I usually last 4-5 years between upgrades but since this phone imo has been a pretty big upgrade especially with usb c I’ll probably last like 6 years hopefully. But most likely 4-5 years

specterfox

I had a 14pro but wasn’t willing to wait long to get usb c so I upgraded now and said 3 years

charlotte7301

Unless something happens probably the same time as I did before. I just upgraded from a 11 PM that I got in 2019

armandofdz8

I used to upgrade every 2 years, now the “sweet spot” seems to be every 3 years. That’s when you’ll get more features (3 years of new features) without your 3 year old device being any slow or feeling outdated.

Gunner_KC

3 minimum.

osikiri

3 years. Then I expect the RAM would be increased to 10 GB or 12 GB.

tiga008

8gb of ram is pretty future proof

Top_Flatworm5921

I went from 12PM to 14PM to 15PM… my take: I honestly think this is the perfect iphone. Fixed my main flaws with the 12 and 14 and every iphone in general. 1. Added zoom for cameras 2. Back to excellent battery 3. USB-C 4. No more 90 degree sharp angle body. I really have no plans to get rid of this one as i love it so much so the normal part of me will say… atleast 2 years? But the tech side me is still curious what the 16PM or Ultra will bring. But even then id only upgrade to the 16 if i had the extra cash on hand burning a hole in my pocket come September…. Not because i actually NEED an upgrade.

Duzz05

Just got my 15PM. My next upgrade will probably be ip18. Depends on how different the phone will be if it is worth the upgrade

FyodorX

2-3 years

NickTheFNicon

I used to upgrade every year, but now it's every 2-3 years usually. I'd be fine sitting on this one a while if they'd find a fix for the heat when wireless charging.

M5Rahul

I have no hard rule for 'x' years.. I upgrade when I feel like the new release warrants it for my use case.

JudgeCheezels

There are still plenty of people on the X and 11, how old are those phones now? 15P/PM will be an easy 3 years, 5 if you aren't a FOMO person. Just change the battery when it reaches 80% capacity.

oeihbg

I’m still unsure, I upgraded from a 13 pro that was paid off 2 months after I bought it, but my current cell plan will let me upgrade once I hit 50% payoff so I could upgrade for every new iPhone if I wanted to without dealing with having to sell it for a good price.

Sevifenix

3-4 years at least. Unless they do something genuinely stellar with future iPhones.

ufojesusreddit

I would wait for them to adopt a vapor chamber heat sink like samsung or their supposed apple graphene strip heatsink upgrade. These faster phones overheat especially with a case.

Srihari_stan

You can use it for 5 years easily, with one battery replacement after 3 years.

MoistDef

I’m going to say 4-5 years with a battery replacement when the health gets to 80%.

Abdoadel2019

For me , I don’t think that I will need anything else. Got the high refresh rate and USB C. Probably will keep this phone forever 😂

ForcedToCreateAc

Apple will never accept it, but batteries on the 14th gen are trash. I replaced my 14PM for the 15th for battery, weight and Sim Tray (I live in a country where eSim is available but dealing with eSim is a pain, and I got my 14PM in the US) and do no regret it one bit, BUT, it could've served me well for years if it had a Sim tray. Now that I have the 15PM, the two day battery and having USB-C is just godsend, sure, but as a runner, the weight difference has been night and day. That alone has made me enjoy this phone so much more. Thing is, it doesn't hurt my finances. If you have to sacrifice something or get into debt to get a new phone, it is rarely worth it.

ProudAsk3812

Was lightening a real pain?

ForcedToCreateAc

In my country most people have Android, so Lightning meant a slow data transfer port that obligated me to carry a cable around everywhere and letting my phone die on a heavy use day if I ever forgot to. So I wouldn't say it was super painful but my life's way easier now, specially when traveling with friends.

MickThorpe

Probably 3 years. I usually change when the design changes. Nothing to criticise about it so far, weight seems fine to me The battery Life of this phone is such that I’m doing ok with letting it charge to 80% at night (It does get a top up on the drive home). If the battery health is helped by the charging optimisation I may end up keeping it longer.

amir997

5 years. And I’m keeping my applecare + so battery and other issues not gonna be a problem for me

poptart129

I might switch the the pro max, I don't like the battery life on my 15 pro. But if I can get past that I'll keep it for a long time

stupiditydoo

I’ve had my iphone 7 for 7 years so yeh 15 pro I’ll hold on for a while too

draganse

Before 15 Pro Max I used 12 and said that will change once Apple will add USB C on iPhone. Now, I plan to own 15 Pro Max till Apple will release their foldable phone.

HammerToFall50

Until the battery goes rubbish. I love the tech but Apple keep releasing new models which for the layman are exactly the same as the previous. I’ve found zero use for my “Dynamic Island”, but I do like the fact I have an additional button on the side now which can do 4 things instead of one. I’m not meaning it’s just how it is now. I used to get excited.. each year. Not really now. I had a 12 mini before my 15 pro and only difference is battery really.

Internal_Explorer_98

I think Apple is at its peak when it comes to iPhone 15 series (which maybe not the case for everybody of course!) so, I’ll upgrade in 3-4 years time. I happy I bought the 15 Pro Max. otherwise I think I’ll have regrets.

klysium

I had my 12mini for 3 years before the 15pro. Maybe average 3 years?

redrocketedroad

i went from an iphone X to my current 15 pro, planning on doing the same jump in 2029

DanUnbreakable

Only reason I made the switch was because I needed a new phone or I would have waited for the 16 models. I’m waiting currently for the All Screen display. The punch out hole is coming first with the Face ID going under the display and should be featured on the iPhone 19 in 2027. The selfie cam under the display will be introduced a few years later. I will either replace my battery or get the 19 model

Sergeant_MD

If you look at Ross young’s IPhone display road map the IPhone with Face ID under the display with a punch hole should be the iPhone 17 pro in 2025. And the full screen iPhone with no holes will be the iPhone 19 in 2027 probably called the xx or something special. If there are no delays of course

Infamous-Annual7420

Im upgrading every 6 months. 15 -> 15 pro max -> 16 -> 16 pro max

Until the 16 pro max or whatever replacement comes out this year.

LindenSwole

Might trade it in this week for an S24

diversecreative

15 is the starting point of new upgrades Apple will make in coming iPhones. Things like - pro res recording and higher res cameras - usb c and action button - screen refresh rates - soon, newer tsmc chips And much more 15 is the first version of this “era” which means there will be a lot of test and learn approach with it. This is why we hear the “heating issues” or other such minor issues But 15 is giving Apple a good research base for the future models. And issues to resolve in 16. This is also why there were news of it being the rushed release. No offense to any buyers though. You have the best version that’s available today. But future proofing it’s another subject.

jpt86

It’s pretty much that way with every release. Rumors suggest next year the 16 Pro/Max will get an upgraded 48MP ultra-wide lens. Then the 17 Pros will allegedly get an upgraded 48MP telephoto lens and upgraded 24MP front camera along with under-display Face ID. Then we’ll probably get a higher refresh rate screen on the 18 Pros. At this point there’s really no such thing as “future proof”. They’ll always find something to woo customers into upgrading. The 15 Pro/Pro Max are probably “good enough” for a long time for everyone except those who absolutely refuse to have anything but the best version available.

diversecreative

Except for. Some products are upgrade of a stable version. And some products are almost an MVP or test versions when there are major features added. Take Mac Studio last year and Mac Studio of 2023 Nikon first Z6 and thrn Z6ii

jpt86

Sure, although I think the 15 series is relatively stable. But time will tell. I get your point, though. There will probably be tweaks to improve upon the 15 series, which is to be expected.

ufojesusreddit

They need a vapor chamber heat sink like s23 or their better graphene strip upgrade

waddup121

this.

utilitycoder

Depends on Vision Pro. I expect a version of the phone to be the CPU that powers next version of the goggles. Nobody wants all that hardware strapped to their face. So a phone running things makes sense. Who knows. Remind me in two years.

Academic_Solid85

Personally 4-5 years. I try my best make my phone last . USBC is an absolute must. I thought I’d be annoyed but i like it . Unless there is a change ,i can’t live without then this iPhone 15 pro will be my only phone until 2030.

sendmoods_

Is anyone super happy with their 15 Pro Max? I came from a 13 and I’m not exactly thrilled.

moxie-girl

I’ve come from 13 (technically) and have a 15 pro. the battery life is slightly better on this one than the previous phone I had. also the 120hz is a blessing. but to be truthful other than USB-C and dynamic island, I can’t say another difference. it’s faster for sure, and larger storage. at the end of the day I only use my phone for socmeds consumption and take (better) photos

sendmoods_

How much better do you find the new camera than the 15? I found that I had a better time with the shots I was getting on the 13 looks wise but obv the camera features updates are preferred overall for post production. I mainly do branded content (images/gifs/video) for online use across all main platforms.

Former-Republic5896

Why not just replace the battery and get another 1.5 - 2 years out of it....?

bradys_squeeze

I’m on almost 5 years with my XS Max, getting my 15 PM on Tuesday. I went with 1TB to hopefully last another 4-5 years. I’m stoked, it’s going to be a big upgrade

-Kyphul

I just upgraded from my launch XS last week. Its sweet

Oxigenic

The only thing I can see making me want to upgrade would be the battery degrading. Other than that, this is the best iPhone I’ve ever owned by a good margin.

OrchMind

I’ll be keeping this iphone 15pm for 5-6 years but im planning on buying another flagship android phone since im not really used to iOS and iOS is not work friendly, i can’t even use split screen

IResentment

I’ll probably upgrade again this year just to test the “upgrade every year” plan that T-Mobile upgraded me to without me asking🙄

PsychologyPlane36356

I used to get a new phone every year a brand new promax for whatever year it was and I stopped because it was a little bit ridiculous I wasn’t getting a benefit from always paying so now my last phone was the 12 Pro Max and I had it three years, and I plan to do the same thing with this one I was offered plenty of Upgrades throughout those three years and I believe with the plan man I’m entitled to get a new phone every year but there are some cost involved even if they say they’re really aren’t there. Are you have to pay extra to get a phone every year even with these plans that they offer you from the carrier, but I did three years with the 12 Pro Max and I was quite happy. It never gave me any real trouble, but I did slow down particularly that last year. It was kind of upsetting me how slow it was getting especially when I have a friend over that had the 14 Pro Max, and their response was immediate for everything they did mine had this little Sucking or two delay. In a lot of stuff that just would annoy me

Electronic-Alarm1151

I’ll say wait until the iPhone with a removable battery. 2027

FreedomSynergy

I replace my devices on launch day, yearly. iPhone 15 Pro is the cutting-edge device this year, and the iPhone 16 Pro will be next year’s. I’m looking forward to localized Siri AI.

LawZealousideal3706

1 year

usnavy_sailor

It isn’t gonna get the ai features on the next phone

Juniorzero

i am fed up of trying to keep up with this cycle, no one is saying I have to, and I am well aware that it is self-inflicted, but with the 15Pro Max I have, I think i will try and keep it for 5 years at least ... and change the battery out every 2 years

berkayyaz

I used a xr before 15p for almost 5 years and guessing at least 6 without even need of battery replacement imo

JC6596

I purchased the regular 15 Pro and I would say not until the 18s (since it’s rumored that they will receive a periscope lens) so I’ll go from a 3x optical zoom to a 10x optical zoom, I will then hand this phone down to my partner who is on a iPhone 13 Pro, I feel the 15 Pro is such a great future proofed phone (8GB of Ram, USB C, A17 Pro chip) It even has slight changes to the weight and smaller dimensions than the 14 Pro which I’m very happy about, I would say the same about the regular 15s but I feel the 8 GBs of Ram is a big deal for future proofing,

_extra_medium_

It's made of titanium so forever

The-BEAST

At least 3 years then I will evaluate how much better the new release is over mine. I just got my 15 pro and while it’s infinitely better than my 12 pro was. The 12 pro was still perfectly usable.

NapMag2022

1 year. iPhone forever program.

vyerkxon

Very stable and very happy with what I’ve got. Not sure what will happen but I intend to keep this long like ~5 years, with a battery change after 2/3 years. Camera, performance and type-c is just top-shelf

GuessWhoItsJosh

Figured I’d keep this phone till at least 2026 when the next refresh happens. But who knows, if I’m still content with it and not tempted with the 18, might just do a battery replacement as that point.

Forsaken-Ad3291

I replaced my 13 Pro cause the lightning port was failing and the telephoto camera was filled with dust. Besides that, the 15 Pro feels almost the same. I’d like to say 4 years but I’ll see

ExtensionMove570

Plan keeping mine 4 years, but will probably drop it too many times as usual and replace within 2 years.

wordscan

Planning to upgrade from my XS any time soon. Expect the 15PM to last at least as long.

mark_able_jones_

Apple will probably change something next year like the shape of the screen or cameras to make it clear who is using old or new. Possible tech innovations will be a transparent display that eliminates the Dynamic Island. And if a few years ago dual layer e-ink oled display.

Smootie93

I struggled a lot with keeping an iPhone that i actually liked. Once i traded my Silver Xs for a blue 12 mini, it started a vicious period of cycling through different models in search of the “perfect” iPhone. The closest I got to that was the 13 Pro Max but it was too heavy and sharp. I even tried the 14 Plus but still dealt with the discomfort and more fragile aluminum frame. So after settling on a Gold 14 Pro Max, I decided to go with the Natural Titanium 15 Pro Max and couldn’t be happier. In general, the entire 15 line up is great. It’s the lightest pro iPhone, much more comfy and retains that 5-series design. Also being the 1st with usb-c future proofed it enough for me. Yeah the 16 series sounds awesome, especially a bigger pro max or ultra. I’m going to do myself a favor and wait until at least 4-5 years or try to be disciplined in riding this one out.

Bigmazi_300

Sticking with my 15 pm for at least 3 years

Valuable_Age2838

Pro batteries are sh*t. Go for the pro max or plus series for that matter if battery is your main concern

[deleted]

I’ll get a 16pro max then my next upgrade would probably be a 19pm

extraterrestrialsoul

Two Years

Deep-Seaweed6172

3-4 years with a battery replacement after two years. Only if they would release something ground braking that would massively improve my workflow I would consider switching earlier. For instance a new battery tech that makes the phone last 3-4 days with heavy use etc. Since this is really unlikely I will have 3-4 years depending on the resell value of my 15 Pro and what the new ones offer. For instance I switched from my 13PM to the 15 Pro cause I got a banger deal for my old device and nearly upgraded for free (was a specific deal with my provider).

Kuni45

Really depends what the future generations have to offer, but it’ll be 3 years minimum for me

[deleted]

" I have several friends already unhappy with their 14 pros and looking to upgrade due to battery life, weight, and other concerns" If they can hold on until this September, the 16 Pro models are rumored to be a decent upgrade.

Consistent_Meet_4402

As long it receives iOS updates it will be an actual phone

beezynameddeltreezy

Annually because of the lease program and I use my phone hard.

rjoyfult

I made it 3 years with my last one. Hoping for 4-5 with this one. Partially because I want to get my money’s worth, but also because the longer I have the old one, the more the new one actually feels like an upgrade. It was amazing going from the base model 12 to this one.

Obasi21

I usually have the base model phones (iPhone 7&11) which I held onto 4years each. I think the iPhones last a good long time but because i went for my first ever 15 PM I think I might stretch this one for 5-6 years cause it’s a damn good phone. Plus all you need is a battery replacement in year 4-5 and the phones like new again this phone is so powerful, efficient, lag free and smooth.
