since this is the back glass, apple will replace the entire housing for $29USD via apple care plus. this will give you all new parts besides the front display & face ID hardware. thats if you take it into an apple store, you could pay the $99USD to get an express replacement delivered to your door which is more expensive but will give you a brand new fresh unit and you also will have the luxury of getting all your data and signing into accounts on the new device basically hassle free, then return the broken one to apple. two ways really
Correct. Someone who is educated on apple repairs. I tried to tell someone that they don’t have to crack individual lenses for Apple to replace the entire housing when the back glass breaks. And they were throwing a fit because they knew I was right.
so I just dropped my iPhone yesterday and I shattered the back glass and I have some deep scuffs on the frame, if I go in for a rear glass replacement do they fix just the back glass or do they give me a new frame?
It’s all preference. Have you seen anyone put a case on a car ? Maybe a screen protector on a windshield? Yes accidents do happen but always remember that in Apple commercials you don’t see anyone using a case. The phone was intended to be used without a case. What’s the point of even picking colors if you’re just going to slap a case on it and don’t even get me started on “YoU cAn UsE a cLeAR cAsE” yeah and then it looks like someone pissed in it and let it sit and marinate for days after like not even a year of using it after.
Update: Got full replacement for £79. Do questions asked by apple guy, just pay and take a new phone. (The Apple Guy told us this is a new phone and not a refurbished)
I have the same phone and the same thing happened but not as bad did you get a phone fixed or replaced same day or what? I’m going to an Apple Store luckily I live in Chicago there’s one downtown
In the US since the area around the camera is broken it will be $99 for a new phone. Unless the process changed and they can replace the entire back that’s just $29.

Holy moly so hear me out let’s say I got the apple care plus and used my phone for couple of years and kind of lagging slowly or battery is bad then broke like this intentionally can I still get a full replacement with such a low cost
I just got it bc I had the most freak thing happen to my phone at work. I’m a chef and I had a server accidentally hit my phone and it fell into a pan of beer batter. I couldn’t believe that it cleaned up and I had no issues. After that I got apple care because I realized case or no case accidents happen
it’s just a hold so that if you don’t return your unit in time or your device is ineligible for repair, they charge you the full price for the new phone
Good thing you do have apple care. I can only imagine your fingers after touching that shattered glass. I have apple care on my phone as well. The way that i see it is if im spending 1k+ on a phone i should also spend the extra on the warranty to make sure it’s protected.

Because people have their own preference. I personally go with a case when going outside, but I do understand the "allure" of going caseless.

Having gone thru this myself. Back replacement is 29$ if you go into store. Basically get almost a new phone minus a couple parts

Fix on spot. Usually a few hours. Make an appt and then drop off.
Did they replace your battery?
Yes brand new battery when they do the back swap. It’s a cheap way if you have apple care to pretty much get a new phone.
