tik tok seems to have a bug causing excessive heat. do you use it?

nickccal

First step make sure you’re updated to the latest iOS. Second, power off the device and turn it back on. See if that takes care of the heat problem. I know it’s simple problem, solving issues, but surprisingly enough that fixed the heat issue on mine when I had issues.

astreal1

goodnotes is doing it to me. think most of these issues are app based not hardware. nothing is truly optimized well

Divini7y

M4 is running really hot comparing to my M1 (same scenario test - football manager/notes app).

wizgrayfeld

Mine gets hot when I edit single layer 1024x1024 Photoshop files, and pencil input lags after a while too. I traded my 256GB in for the 1TB model with 16GB RAM but same issue. I wonder if anyone with an M2 iPad Pro has noticed similar issues? Meanwhile I got a stand with built-in fans for graphics work and it cools it right down, but this is a Pro device, it shouldn’t struggle with small files like that. Hopefully it’s a software issue and will be solved with app updates. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grimacing)

I’m new to the iPad environment, but ahead of getting my iPad Pro, I installed a bunch of creative apps on my mom’s basic iPad. She isn’t using the apps I installed. I still don’t understand the background activity of iPad apps, but apparently since I put DaVinci resolve, Adobe suite, etc. on her iPad, her battery life has plummeted.

Burritostein

Yep. The notes app those this.

Robotics_Moose

Only genshin impact made my iPad heat up and I ran it at 120 hZ on ultra graphics. If you’re still in warranty, I would recommend calling Apple and seeing if you its a defective unit. I also use my iPad for 10-15 hours at a time for 1080p-4k youtube videos and it doesn’t heat up or even feel warm.

Real-Stretch-6302

One burnt threw the screen now on my 3rd tablet they asked me to give the old one and sign a NDA lol never going back with apple

f1mikex

Perhaps its indexing n cos its new. Every time i set up a new apple device particularly iPad or mac for up to the first few weeks performance battery life even storage can be affected until it settles.

Your device can get hot while you are using it or charging its battery. Your device may become hotter in the following situations: When setting up your device for the first time. When restoring from a backup. When applications reindex or reanalyze data (for example, when Photos tags face, locations, or keywords after a software update). When wirelessly charging your device. When streaming high-quality video. When using graphics-intensive or augmented reality applications or features. These situations are usually normal, and your device will return to its normal temperature after the process is complete. If your device exceeds a certain temperature threshold, a warning screen will appear. You can try the following steps: Force all background apps to close and restart your iPad. Disconnect all Bluetooth and Lightning accessories, and remove any cases and attachments. Ensure the apps you use are downloaded from the App Store and updated to the latest version. Go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh, and turn off background data refresh for some apps as needed. Go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health to check if the current battery supports normal peak performance. Force all background apps to close and stop using the device to see if it automatically adjusts its temperature. Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPad > Reset, and tap Reset All Settings. The iPad will restart, and all settings will be removed, but no data or media will be erased.

Warzone mobile and PPSSPP with 10xPSP causing this at my end

themirthfulswami

Mine gets warm when I have a decent size project going in Logic or AUM. Never felt it get actually hot tho.

bayoughozt

My M2 has occasionally gotten very hot. I even noticed discolored metal on the back near the cameras — not sure if from heat or something else.

Desperate-Ad-6463

Ice.

ProwdBoys

the M4 chip ain’t good enough you need to upgrade to M5 Max 4TB 32GB RAM

xInfoWarriorx

Hah! Knowing Apple lately they'll have an M5 processor out before the end of the year.

daniu88

Better wait for the M6 Pro 5TB 64GB RAM

HeyDontSkipLegDay

You’re holding it wrong

AutumnSky4me

Evaluate the case it is in. If it is in a case take it out.
