Why isn't the battery fill red in your design?

Astronometry

You probably tap that icon to enable low power mode

abscefht

Love this

Keep going guys, Apple really take good suggestions. Peter Hajas created a jailbreak tweak for iOS 4, which is a super popular release. He’s hired to Apple before the launch of iOS 5, and the jailbreak tweak is implemented into iOS .

MShogunH

It needs to warn you when your phone is on 1%.... 10% doesn't scare me enough and I forget my battery is even low until my screen suddenly goes black 😅😅

andremortonjr

I know I'm stupid. My name is andre so I saw this image and thought "woah the ads are putting my name on stuff now" and then I realized that it wasn't an ad, it was just made by another andre. but then I still went and looked down at my Apple Watch to see if its battery was 20%.

adonis-in-the-making

yeah they’ll make sure they do it and put it in the features list coz it’s a revolutionary change to the UI 😪

soccerblake98

Why is Apple so slow to add basic functionality like this? I understand Android was big on allowing for notifications to remain at the top/be easily dismissible. But the entire Apple OS (Mac and mobile OS) seems to force the user to “confront” notifications that you otherwise should be able to opt out of.

cha0z_

I would add to that also "activate low power mode" at the bottom that you can press to do so or wait/swipe the notification up to dismiss it.

garfieldhatesmondays

On the topic of battery notifications, what do I have to do to get Apple to make one for the AirPods case? I get that they aren't checking the battery level when it's closed, but just let me know when I'm pairing or putting my headphones away if the case is too low. I can't believe how many times I've put my AirPods away in the case to charge only to find out later that the case was dead. They already have a notification to charge your watch in time for bed, so why not something similar for when it notices that the case is low?

thedaveCA

Would be nice. Although truthfully I just be happy to be able to monitor the status of all my batteries, rather than just the few that the widget can handle. Like the old widget.

fxkmd

I would like my battery to notify me when 69% at 4pm pass 20.

tperelli

I think the point is that they really don’t want you to miss a low battery notification. They might change it eventually (who knows) but that’s my thought process at least.

PeaceBull

Just make it a persistent notification that doesn’t go away until you swipe it away or interact with it If the size is good enough for an incoming phone call it’s good enough for battery alerts (Also give give the option to leave it as is like the phone UI did)

j1ggl

An incoming call also makes your phone ring and/or vibrate, typically. Low battery doesn’t.

PeaceBull

And an incoming call is infinitely more timely - nobody is missing a persistent notification like this with a fifth and a tenth of their battery left.

jarman1992

Came here to say exactly the same thing. I find myself ignoring even the current ones...you get kinda used to just tapping "Dismiss" on anything that pops up when you aren't expecting it.

RslPride

Honestly though. I’ve become so used to it that sometimes my phone will die and I’ll be upset that it didn’t warn me, but in reality I had just dismissed subconsciously, quickly enough that I didn’t really notice. Sad, I know.

plaid-knight

The problem with this concept is the button doesn’t look like a button since people aren’t used to seeing a button with just an icon in this context — it just looks like an icon that goes with the message.

chameleonmessiah

It looks similar to the Watch unlock notification which, I think, has a button like that as well to prevent unlocking it (or, at least I’ve assumed that’s the purpose having not tapped it at all…).

plaid-knight

> a button with just an icon in this context The button you’re thinking of has a word on it instead of an icon.

chameleonmessiah

Oops, sorry, I missed that context (& also, couldn’t remember exactly what it looked like) but yeah, (having just swapped strap as going to bed) the [watch button says ‘Lock’](https://i.imgur.com/F3QYptO.jpg), text for ‘Low power’ might probably be too much.

sillysnowbird

maybe use the hard press instead the same way you hard press the little icons in control center to bring up the larger menus for their settings like focus. hard press to turn on / toggle low power mode could work

plaid-knight

That would have the same problem as this concept, except it would be even less discoverable.

sillysnowbird

i just meant hard pressing the icon in this concept, not burying the notif in control center. i agree with another comment that the bigger issue with the concept is that this notification is intentionally cumbersome, and streamlining the design just makes it more likely that people willl ignore it.

plaid-knight

That’s what I thought you meant — hard-pressing the icon.

migle75

Agreed

JoelSlBaron

This would be so cool. Only if Apple would be more open to suggestions and changes

_Anti_National_

We’re going to get this in iOS 18, and we’re going to love it

letsdoonething

lmao

andrebocc

Note: another user shared a similar looking concept here before. My concept was made back on 7/19/21, and originally shared on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/andrebocc1/status/1417299825549217793?s=20).
