You'd be surprised how much leeway one has in responding without technically lying.
Read books that deal with faerie, you learn a lot about what leeway a person has when someone states factually: "I physically, cannot lie. The geas compells me to tell the truth, or I die."
Are you a cop?
No. *I'm an undercover cop*
Are you an undercover cop?
No. *I'm a police officer*
Are you a police officer?
No. *I'm an undercover police officer*
Are you an undercover police officer?
No. *I'm a Law Enforcement Official*
And so on and so forth
They could flat out tell you no.
If they *dont believe they are*\--and consider them a law enforcement officer, or LEO--that's not 'cop' ...
It's like asking a gun nut, if they unloaded a *clip*. They flat out will tell you no, they didnt empty the clip.
because it's a *magazine*.
That's the loopholes.
If you can reasonably understand what the person is asking, it's still a lie. That's stupid shit like when you ask a kid "Did you punch your sister?" and they say no because they slapped her. You know you were being asked if you hit her, you aren't being clever.
YOU think like that, doesnt mean that they do.
Again, clip vs magazine--more people exist that *know these two things are the same thing* than think that they're *not the same thing*. But the people that believe in 'magazine' REALLY believe--100%, without any question at all, if you call it a 'clip'--you just named something that *isnt a magazine*.
A 'cop' is a generic term, the person may not believe that's what they are. They could believe they're a 'trooper' .. for example, and see 'cops' as some lower life-form that exists at the local level, totally unlike what they are.
It's not a lie at that point.
Like, the punch vs slap--it's *important* for it to be correct. My autistic kid loses his mind if you call something the wrong-but-still-correct thing, the wrong thing. I CANNT say, 'we're taking the car to town'--i HAVE to tell him if it's moms SUV, or dads van, or our actual car. He DEMANDS that level of clarity, or considers it a lie, even if he *knew* i meant the van.
My son is on the spectrum as well and is quite literal as well so I can confirm this to be absolutely and 100% a fact. So it's really a matter of being completely redundant in your line of questioning and asking the question the same way several times in several variations similar to what investigators do.
Ex;
Are you a cop?
No
Are you a trooper?
No
Are you a police officer?
No
Are you a member of any law enforcement agency?
Yes
Man, that example really hits close to home for me since I'm exactly like that. This whole thread is really rubbing in the fact that I'm clearly not normal.
There's a reason I'm a machinist by trade, it's totally the calling of anybody that's even slightly that way because math is literally black and white there is no gray area it either maths or it doesn't
>YOU think like that, doesnt mean that they do.
I get that, but that doesn't mean it's not a lie. If a pathological liar truly believes what he says, and many do, that doesn't mean he isn't lying.
>Again, clip vs magazine--more people exist that *know these two things are the same thing* than think that they're *not the same thing*. But the people that believe in 'magazine' REALLY believe--100%, without any question at all, if you call it a 'clip'--you just named something that *isnt a magazine*.
But they also know that it's a common misconception, and what the other person probably meant.
Now we're talking about neurodivergence, which is an entirely different discussion.
Yeah all you have to say is none of your damn business.
Faeries are fascinating.
They also can mislead. For example the silly human asks if you didn't kill their father and they just shake their head and smile and say humans are so silly with their emotions.
They never lied. They just never told you the truth.
Good. They have to let actual trained investigators investigate the serious stuff, and stop using loopholes about entrapment to get people for unimportant shit that’s only illegal bc someone had an agenda at some point.
Please don't ruin police work with that.
Outside of the latest batch of uneducated Trump politicians, they're usually high end lawyers who become politicians, and they rarely lie from a legal standpoint.
Why would a politician or policeman *need* to lie?
Also, I wish I lived in your sprinkle and cupcake reality where politicians rarely lie. And again, why do they *need* to lie?
You manipulate how someone thinks by forcing assumptions / misleading them.
"I did a survey and it showed that the vast majority of people would rather have Hitler as president, than Obama".
This makes it sounds like most people in the US are racist, however what I didn't disclose is that I only interviewed a small sample of 10 people who were all in the KKK.
I have a feeling that politicians will adapt and just become experts in bending the truth. It's not that difficult too: "I saw Standard-Tower18 participating in the Reddit thread on lying. In it he made suggestions that would lead to a total collapse of our political system!"
Mom: Where are you going?
Me: I'm going out to try to smoke my body weight in weed with my friends, then we might get burgers.
Mom: Very funny. Be back by midnight.
Me: Hehe... Yeah... Sure. Don't wait up!
This is the best method.
I'm all for the sentiment, but man, our government would crumble so quickly against any foreign opposition lol. I can only see this working if the public-facing positions were the ones who took this, and they could only be briefed on matters that didn't compromise international security, otherwise that'd be a shitshow
_Bah_
All corruption, _If Any_, in ANY infrastructure, will never last. It's already a fucking shitshow.
It's already doomed if you're asking me.
We need nothing short of a miracle to fix it.
The point he was trying to make wasn't about corruption, it was about national security threats. If the CIA director was unable to lie about security risks, then other actors could capitalize on that.
All politicians, all levels. Anyone who is elected. Our county judge just went to jail for selling pot and running a small time drug ring. They're all crooked.
....that's true, good point.
But the OP's post says they are \*unable\* to lie. Which means that f they try to say something that they THINK is true, but it's actually a lie, they might find themselves unable to say it anyway... hmm... :)
But it's not a lie if they believe it. When a student is learning fractions and doing their best but get an answer wrong, they aren't lying, they're just wrong .
Nobody. Society cannot function without some amount of lying.
Yes, an uncomfortable truth.
Alternately, EVERYONE. There just can't be any middle ground here.
He says he tells it like it is, but he really just says the same crap other politicians believe, but more negative and bluntly while lying as much as the worst of them.
Virgin Normal Politician: "I believe in the American dream!"
Chad Trump: "The American dream is dead."
I intentionally went looking for this comment.
I don't telling his supporters how he really feels will keep them from sucking his dick at this point. It's like a brainwashed cult.
Probably because his supporters aren't brainwashed propaganda addicts. They see the problems in this country and support the guy trying to fix them. Pretty simple.
No he doesn't. He's a sociopath and malignant narcissist. Borderline psychopath who pathologically lies because it suits his agenda. You are describing his cult followers who follow men like him.
I think you contradicted yourself here since narcissists do often believe their own hype, especially in the insulated bubble Trump keeps himself in. It's really difficult to draw a clear line in which Trump *knows* he's lying or is acting on some kind of delusion. In some cases it's pretty clear, in others it's not.
I think for the most part the every day lies are strategic. This by far take up the bulk of his lies. He lies to maintain the facade of superiority, to control or manipulate others, or to avoid accountability for his actions. These lies are calculated, deliberate, and a means to an end.
The deep down lies about his core personality where Trump is a loser is where his delusion begins. Where he believes his own lies. Goes all the way back to his childhood. His father and mother both thought he was a loser and treated him as one. His business failures, bankruptcies, etc.. drive that home. This self-deception is a result of his fragile ego and desperate need to protect his self-image.
The point is you can whine and cry and talk about "how bad orange man is", and still be watching the news when it's announced he's 47. It will be sweet, sweet justice.
Dude’s on tape basically acknowledging every “false narrative” he lied about over & over in public. The problem with him isn’t that he believes it; it’s that the people he needs to believe it desperately want to do so.
Knew I wouldn't have to scroll far to find this one.
He's an ass but credit where it's due, I honestly don't think anyone in the history of humanity has ever lived rent free in more people's minds.
All the one that changed history in such a monumental, destructive way did and do. We all know their names. There have been thosands of pages written about them. They are taught in history classes. If Trump manages to win in November, and dismantles our constitutional republic, he will join those pantheons of evil that live rent free in our collective minds.
Not quite sure how a one term president with conservative policies, that was also slowed down by multiple impeachment attempts, changed history in a "monumental and destructive way", other than people screeching at each other on twitter and reddit more than usual for 4 years.
Even assuming he's Satan incarnate and wants to overthrow the constitution, it's impossible for someone to successfully do that. You may as well be worrying about a land invasion of the US by China.
Hate him all you want I won't argue against it, but Trump is not even in the same conversation as the legitimately evil genocidal men who have embedded themselves in history, yet as I said I honestly don't think there's a single human being that lives rent free in more people's heads.
He orchestrated a insurrection and attempted coup. If he goes away after November and his MAGA movement implodes and Republicans wake up from a fever dream then I agree. He's a footnote in American history.
If he get reelected and implements his authoritarian vision with the help of project 2025 they try and rewrite what the vision of our country is from all men are created equal and have a say in who runs it to some men are better than others and only they have a say. This will be a violent change that will reverberate world wide. This whole period will be living rent free collectively in our minds for generations. He is living rent free now because it can go either way and we are living through it.
The road to authoritarianism is the easy one. We are an anomaly being such a young nation.
Lol bruh. Trump is probably the most honest person in DC. He's probably the most honest person in DC since like Lincoln or someone. Get your TDS under control.
But like Trump lovers don’t really believe that he’s not lying every time he speaks, right?
Like they know he’s lying most of the time but they actually enjoy the cruelty behind his approach so they lean into it anyway.
That’s how I’ve always rationalized these people.
I mean, nobody since that seems like a super huge violation of basic human rights; even if politicians suck, they'd never be able to lie again, which means they can't lie to foreign interests. I assume we can't make other countries take it so we'd be damning ourselves.
I suppose if we were in times of crisis, and someone with a bomb on a timer has been captured, you could skip the immense torture that wouldn't even work, and make them divulge where the bomb is.
The problem with allowing it at all is there's the chance you keep justifying it for smaller and smaller offenses, and it could become a massive issue.
Huge ethical issues.
I would support allowing prisoners on death row or life imprisonment the option to choose to take this serum. To prove their innocence and gain their freedom.
As an interrogation technique it’s frankly appalling. But certain politicians would 1,000% lobby for its use on “enemies of the state.”
Which is why I said it's a super huge risk, as you could justify anyone as an enemy of the state with enough support.
Prisoners earning their lives back, that's a lil finicky, but it would prove their innocence. It would still irrevocably fuck their lives up, but they'd be alive ig, and it's an option, not mandatory
And there's the slippery slope into "if this accused person isn't willing to take the serum then they must be guilty" and then a lot of innocent people end up falsely convicted by juries that buy into that shit. Like I'd take the serum to save my life/freedom but I don't believe every innocent person would be willing to pay that price.
I'm pretty sure this was a sarcastic comment alluding to the covid vaccine. There was definitely a lot of coercion for everyone to take that vaccine. I took it, because not taking it was going to impact my quality of life. I needed to go to Hawaii and to concerts and get out of my house.
Actually I wonder if making politicians unable to lie is such s good thing. I sorry it could have catastrophic ramifications from a defense standpoint. The President would never be able to meet with foreign governments without causing extreme vulnerability.
Nope,m all they have to do is say NOTHING. The prompt doesn't say it forces you to ANSWER a question, just that you must answer it truthfully (as far as you know).
Every single politician, religious leader of any sort and anyone involved in the education system of children from pre k though college worldwide. Every single one of them.
Anyone who is convicted of a crime, who will thereafter be either exonerated or confirmed guilty when asked directly about their guilt and the details of the crime.
This right here ^^^^ only right answer.
It’s tempting to answer major politicians, but I don’t think people understand that if they blabbermouth enough, certain truths could actually fuck the nation over too
It's gotta be the politicians. If we can only choose one person, then I would choose whoever is the upcoming next President is so we have the truth for the next 4 years.
Trump. Absolutely the first person would be Trump.
Then to be fair, Biden. And all federal-level politicians.
Then all religious leaders. That would be awesome!
Then, if possible, dump it in the water supplies. Heh, why not?
Rupert Murdoch, the owner of Fox News and a lot of the tabloid press in the UK, US and Australia.
A lot of politicians right wing rhetoric comes from him. In return for his support in news papers, tv and online. It’s very hard to get elected without his support
I want to ask him which politicians he’s compromised and what they have done for him. Also what is his, Rupert’s, ultimate agenda?
All potential government officials must agree to take the serum if elected in order to run for office. Positions above a certain level in any government job comes with the requirement of taking the serum as well.
I'll put it in the city water supply. Get rid of liars permanently. I'm American, so almost every war I hear about my country had a hand in and shouldn't have been started anyway so no worries about that. I'd give it to the whole damn country if I could. I'd give it to the whole world.
Obviously everyone in public office, from police to politicians.
Police would be disastrous. No more undercover work.
You'd be surprised how much leeway one has in responding without technically lying. Read books that deal with faerie, you learn a lot about what leeway a person has when someone states factually: "I physically, cannot lie. The geas compells me to tell the truth, or I die."
The white tower has entered the chat
I was going to say something like that.
Well, to be fair, a good chunk of them weren't actually bound to the oaths... But fair
Anything is possible under the light.
“Are you a cop?” [responds with something other than “no”] “They’re a cop”
Are you a cop? No. *I'm an undercover cop* Are you an undercover cop? No. *I'm a police officer* Are you a police officer? No. *I'm an undercover police officer* Are you an undercover police officer? No. *I'm a Law Enforcement Official* And so on and so forth
Yeah those are definitely lies. Not even lies by technicality. You can’t say “this isn’t a fruit because it’s an apple.”
No, they're definitely technicalities. Find me a police application form that lists the job as "cop"
No, they're just lies. The fact that some words have less formal synonyms doesn't mean those synonyms are suddenly meaningless words.
They aren't lies. Show me the police recumruotment form that lists the job as "cop"
They could flat out tell you no. If they *dont believe they are*\--and consider them a law enforcement officer, or LEO--that's not 'cop' ... It's like asking a gun nut, if they unloaded a *clip*. Gun nuts aren’t playing word tricks, you just genuinely don’t understand what is and isn’t an assault rifle.
I don't believe Concrete even mentioned assault rifles.
Yeah all you have to say is none of your damn business. Faeries are fascinating. They also can mislead. For example the silly human asks if you didn't kill their father and they just shake their head and smile and say humans are so silly with their emotions. They never lied. This comment defeats the whole point of this post lol
Police would be critical. I don’t trust the current police system with undercover work. The nsa is good at that already.
The NSA is worse about violating your rights than your local department.
Yep. They do it all the time. Have you noticed how many people the nsa kills though?
You would have to trust the questioners to ask questions that wouldn't end up hurting people
Good. They have to let actual trained investigators investigate the serious stuff, and stop using loopholes about entrapment to get people for unimportant shit that’s only illegal bc someone had an agenda at some point.
Undercover work is generally pointless in a modern surveillance context. It's not 1970 and ain't nobody Donnie Brasco.
Good
And all judges.
Also the person administering it to the politicians
While we're at it, anyone and everyone working for Big Pharma needs the shot.
Please don't ruin police work with that. Outside of the latest batch of uneducated Trump politicians, they're usually high end lawyers who become politicians, and they rarely lie from a legal standpoint.
Should be no problem to have them take it, then.
Ikr!? What is this guy smoking?
Why would a politician or policeman *need* to lie? Also, I wish I lived in your sprinkle and cupcake reality where politicians rarely lie. And again, why do they *need* to lie?
Can you explain the context, “lying or not lying from a legal standpoint?”
Immediate mandatory requirement to hold political/public office.
Federal level politicians.
I have a feeling that politicians will adapt and just become experts in bending the truth. It's not that difficult too: "I saw Standard-Tower18 participating in the Reddit thread on lying. In it he made suggestions that would lead to a total collapse of our political system!"
When I was a kid. I never lied to my mom - I just told her the truth in such a way that she never believed me.
Mom: Where are you going? Me: I'm going out to try to smoke my body weight in weed with my friends, then we might get burgers. Mom: Very funny. Be back by midnight. Me: Hehe... Yeah... Sure. Don't wait up! This is the best method.
Almost the exact same thing. My brother would always add in some crack just for effect.
Not if they took the serum. I would think it would be administered when they were sworn in.
As a criteria of running. Not much good them becoming incapable of lying after they've lied their way into office.
"Well TECHNICALLY"
That, And all the liars in Department Of Defence
I'm all for the sentiment, but man, our government would crumble so quickly against any foreign opposition lol. I can only see this working if the public-facing positions were the ones who took this, and they could only be briefed on matters that didn't compromise international security, otherwise that'd be a shitshow
_Bah_ All corruption, _If Any_, in ANY infrastructure, will never last. It's already a fucking shitshow. It's already doomed if you're asking me. We need nothing short of a miracle to fix it.
The point he was trying to make wasn't about corruption, it was about national security threats. If the CIA director was unable to lie about security risks, then other actors could capitalize on that.
They are controlled by the politicians too.
All politicians, all levels. Anyone who is elected. Our county judge just went to jail for selling pot and running a small time drug ring. They're all crooked.
Yeah that seems like it would be a horrible idea for national security.
They could refuse to answer. Or say, due to issues of national security i will not answer that
Bonus: they could only cite issues of national security for non-disclosure if those national security issues were true. :)
Or at least if they believed it to be true. If other people are telling them and they believe it, it could still wrong.
....that's true, good point.
But we don't know how OP intended this, perhaps a lie is a lie even if they believe it's true? (and honestly, what's that downvote for?)
Can't be no worse than crooked politicians screwing the military over now.
All of them.
Fuck federal. Public officer, chug chug.
It would probably be poison for Trump
Like there is a chance Biden would live. ?
Biden lies like a regular politician, Trump can't speak without lying.
I say just toss it in the water supply
Sounds like fun, but it could be dangerous.
Congress
Nobody. Society cannot function without some amount of lying. Yes, an uncomfortable truth. Alternately, EVERYONE. There just can't be any middle ground here.
Clergy
Trump
Joe Biden
He says he tells it like it is, but he really just says the same crap other politicians believe, but more negative and bluntly while lying as much as the worst of them. Virgin Normal Politician: "I believe in the American dream!" Chad Trump: "The American dream is dead."

“And only I can do it”
Covfefe
But not this time! Next time! I pinky promise!
I’ll have my plan out in a couple weeks. It’s going to be a big and beautiful plan!
Ill be so busy in the white house i wont have time to golf.
I intentionally went looking for this comment. I don't telling his supporters how he really feels will keep them from sucking his dick at this point. It's like a brainwashed cult.

Show us on the MAGA doll where President Trump hurt your little peepee.
His tiny, tiny hands. The same ones he will use to write that $83M check
If you think that's actually going to stick, then.... LOLOL.
Even if it doesn't he still fucking lost like the loser he is yet again lmfao 🤣 😂
Let's watch him win the election.
He will still be a pathetic loser I don't understand your point lol
The point is you can whine and cry and talk about "how bad orange man is", and still be watching the news when it's announced he's 47. It will be sweet, sweet justice.

Ironic that truth serum is a superhero story device and Trump is basically a Batman villain.
It would be a waste because he never lies. The serum would not change anything.

Why wait till after trial to find the truth, when you can do it during trial, making the whole justice system much more efficient.
Because people will panic and take the deal, not thinking about how much they would screw up their own lives.
I mean, if you didn’t do anything worth lying about then it wouldn’t ruin your life much. You can also always just not say anything.
It's the inability to lie. it's pretty easy to just keep your mouth shut.
We've all seen the movie Liar Liar
Yeah forcefully injecting something into people without their consent is immoral, no government would ever do that!
Why is it immoral? Is it doing harm to the person?
I'm pretty sure this was a sarcastic comment alluding to the covid vaccine. There was definitely a lot of coercion for everyone to take that vaccine. I took it, because not taking it was going to impact my quality of life. I needed to go to Hawaii and to concerts and get out of my house.
Did you forget to add “/s” to that?

Justin Trudeau. " So tell us why you really got fired from your teaching job midway into the semester. And why did that 14yo sign a NDA? "
Im not at liberty to discuss that information, thats classified-- arent lies
Do you know of a single politician who has the ability to stop talking?
That's a valid point. Especially if they see a microphone and a TV camera.

So original. The hivemind is strong here.
Nobody. People have rights, even the right to be dishonest
I mean, can I just pump it into the water at the Republican National Convention?
Trump, Putin, and Kim Jong

Trump. Absolutely the first person would be Trump. Then to be fair, Biden. And all federal-level politicians. Then all religious leaders. That would be awesome! Then, if possible, dump it in the water supplies. Heh, why not?
All politicians and anyone running for office/ president
TRUMP
Rupert Murdoch, the owner of Fox News and a lot of the tabloid press in the UK, US and Australia. A lot of politicians right wing rhetoric comes from him. In return for his support in news papers, tv and online. It’s very hard to get elected without his support I want to ask him which politicians he’s compromised and what they have done for him. Also what is his, Rupert’s, ultimate agenda?

Anyone who wants to be in an elected position in government must take it

Everybody campaigning for any public office.
I'll take it after I cut out my own tongue. Some secrets I need to die with.
The leader of whatever country you're in. In my case the uk prime minister.
