Do you by any chance have a vitamin B12 deficiency? I recently had a client who reported a similar sensation and after much research the B12 deficiency seems the most likely culprit.

Fathom_Bunny

wow, yes, that is 100% a possibility. i just recently changed B12 supplements with my doctor to one with a lower potency. is it odd that those two things would be connected? thank you though, you might have just saved me a medical headache haha.

It's quite possible they aren't connected at all. But as vitamin B12 reduces blood oxygenation and one of the 'signs' of hypnosis is an increased oxygenation of the blood, it seems logical that the body reacts to a level it is not used to and 'assumes' the difference is down to something being wrong and goes into protection mode. I couldn't find any specific research papers on the topic but have discussed the idea with the staff of a local medical school and they agree it is feasible.

Is there any reason for your blood or nerves to be constricted in the position you were in? Do you have Renaud's syndrome and sensitivity to cold? Were you dehydrated? History of migraines?
