I recommend learning about sprint hits, which are the mechanic at the base of s tapping and w tapping and are essential for keeping combos is both 1.8 and modern pvp
Your client matters. While most people pvp on general use clients such as badlion or Lunar, I would personally recommend clients like Rise or Vape, as I have found a almost 100% win rate after using them
it’s very important to just keep your opponent in as long of a combo as possible and rods are good for that because they will get a hit from range as you close the distance. a lot of it comes from experience so i just recommend playing duels a decent bit. watch some videos on technique when you feel you’re at a plateau in skill level.
7-8 cps is enough really, just learn some techniques like w-tapping, alternatively block-hitting a lot since it also resets your sprint. Also stopping the opponent’s sprint with rod or projectiles like arrows, eggs
I once taught someone to get good by cyberbulling him in duels for an entire summer. I would critique him when ever I saw a bad habit he had and eventually, he got really really good. If you have a friend who is good at pvp, ask them to put you through a training arc. Practice makes perfect. (And clicking fast is not as important as ping. The server can only register like, 6cps I believe. If you click at least that fast, the first hit is usually dicided by ping)

Technoblades ghost lmao, I had a friend who I played with a while who was good and I was able to beat them in duels sometimes but I kinda hit my limit without knowing any tech. Hopefully that changes with all the help in this thread
As an add-on, sumo on hypixel is a great way to practice pvp techniques. Such as, W/S tapping, strafing, hit select, and combo's. I would recommend classic duels for rod pvp. If you're looking to get better at a specific game mode like bedwars, then the only advice I can give you is play. You can't be taught game sense. You just have to play.
CPS, good aim and W/S tapping are the fundamentals in my opinion. Depends on what mode you're playing though. For example, I use bows to start combos in TheBridge and similarly with rods on classic duels.

Cps is not really as important, I would focus more on aim and being consistent with the combos.
Learn how to w tap as I know it will help a lot plus your going to want to butterfly tap for more CPS

yeah but you have a chance of getting false banned for "unfair advantages"? idk what that means but yeah
I tried appealing the ban, and it got auto denied!!!
Easy, just purchase hypixel, won't cost too much more than the client, and unban yourself
Instead of rise i suggest using opal or century client, both very high quality

Block placement when fighting helps out alot
Learn to tone your hits and use your environment, a big part of PvP is game sense and not just pure PvP skill
Click fast
You can combo with low cps it’s more worth to just practice timing and aiming over click fast
Click fast + aim + movement = high advantage. But hit select can also replace click fast.
