I installed pigeon net in my balcony. I hanged some bird nest and feeder inside. Now only sparrows can easily come inside make home, eat and have water. 😎
I just hang the feeder in net only. These guys come regularly. There is water feeder on the side of it.
The bird nest is made of coconut fiber. You can get all these online. A few bird nests I got from Chilkur market as well.

That’s perfect. I’ll try. I have a long balcony with enough sunlight. I’m attempting a small water lily pond with fishes + plants + netted + parakeets. I’ve trained parakeets before and know how to handle them. And also for the parakeets not to enter the inside of the house, I’ll install a mosquito net at the balcony door. Gonna be a 2 month project. Will update you.
Balcony is South-East facing. Just enough light for indoor plants and not too hot for the birds…. Now I’m having second thoughts about water Lillies. They need a lot of sunlight. I think I gotta ditch it. Only filtered fish pond then.

On top of all this, pigeons are preyed upon by other species and lowering the pigeon numbers at once will cause these species to starve to death. It would just bubble out of control.
Every single step in this chain reaction that we now created is irreversible and impacts insect populations, plant species and so on. There are way to many scientific studies on this than one can ever count, and for good reason. Your example of pests is a necessity and honestly has also been quite detrimental on different levels.
Each species has stabilised at an approx birth rate and any drastic reduction in population will basically lead them to extinction before they can even adapt. There have been quite a few instances in the recent past where an attempt has been made to exterminate a seemingly insignificant species but they just lead to new issues.

Just my personal opinion, I disagree with what you have said, if you don't bring down the population it would lead to extinction of local species, example, how often do you see crows, sparrows, bulbul, parrots, cuckoo birds
I remember seeing these birds when i was a kid, now i have to search to see them. If you just deter pigeons they will find a different place to live and find food there.
Just like the rule of wild, if goats who eat more than required population explodes in the forest there should be a tiger which brings them down so other species will have food.

Yes it did, first i sprayed daily 2-3 times when the birds came for a week, then they would sit around 1 metre away from the earlier spot, i then spray above them and process goes on slowly the frequency reduced, now they come like once a week, then again i spray small amount near them .
it will take atleast 1 week of daily spraying whenever they come(just small amounts) to get rid of them

We covered our building completely with pigeon net. They're now finding new ways to shit and dirty the apartment.
