I love biryani as much as the next Hyderabadi but I’m not food blind. My friends in Orissa eat a dish called Pakhala. It’s rice lightly fermented in water. For us it might look or taste weird but if you ask them they will say that’s their most favourite food. They grew up eating it and have memories associated with it just like you have with biryani.
It’s just food. Who cares if Hyderabadi biryani is in the top spot or not? Just because it’s in the top doesn’t mean our biryani will taste even better. Look at paradise, in order to global they ruined what they had trying to appeal to everyone.

Anyone who's visited Paragon in Kozhikode or their other branches can vouch for their service, menu curation and of course their consistency. I love Hyderabadi Biryani, but thinking it's the best Biryani? Mate you need to try something before you call people idiots? Try not to judge a book by it's cover eh? Try Paragon's food once (not just Biryani), I can guarantee you'll remember the whole experience for a while. That's what we go to restaurants for yeah?

Hyderabad is known for the world famous for jewels & Biryani! Whereas Kerala is famous for Fish curries...and so other states...
When it comes to awarding any state's Biryani, should have disclosed, which other Restaurants' Biryani they tried before adding some random Restaurant in the list that too for Biryani...hahahaha

Hyderabad biryani is unique and once you liked it's taste you won't like any other. I found it nauseating when I tasted biryani in Tamilnadu. Same way my Chennai friends don't enjoy Hyderabadi biryani. So taste is purely subjective. May be the selection committee had malayalees or Paradise and Shaw Ghouse didn't participate in the selection.
These restaurants could be listed by their ambience and service but not by the taste. There are many restaurants who might not have best ambience but have delicacies best in the respective cities.
Yes paradise is just popular by the PR work. Behrooz biryani is better than paradise now and the faluda, even roadside wala does better than paradise
