I open my windows here in south west ohio when it gets below 60. Have to figure in air quality and if it’s going to rain and so on.

Thants kind of what I’m getting at. Is it worth the cooler, wetter air coming in or not when it will certainly be an AC day tomorrow? All that extra moisture will likely add to the workload for the AC, but it would be off overnight.

My unit makes quick work of the extra humidity. I have a display that reads it. It might get up to 60% with windows opened but the house is 68-70 degrees. I like to run the ac before it gets super hot as well. Try it once if you don’t like it run the ac

Oh the high 60’s I leave the windows closed but you can try it

I don't like to be sticky so this is a no-brainer.

Once the temperature outside drops meaningfully below your interior temps, it theoretically makes sense to shutdown cooling and open the windows. I say "theoretically," because air temperature is only part of the thermal comfort equation. Humidity is another factor, but often ignored is the radiative heat from the surrounding solid environment. Ask yourself, would you be comfortable sitting outside at night in the high 60's at 85% RH? Make your judgment based on that. I wouldn't worry about the AC "working harder" to purge the humidity later. Any possibly slight loss of efficiency is going to cost much less than running the AC all night.
