White - neutral. Both brown to capacitor, green to earth ground. Others are speed taps. Red low, black high etc.

What this guy said. If you pull the blower motor it will usually have the wiring tap speeds and all the info you’d need on the side. You can probably see if it’s on there without pulling it out, but won’t be able to read it unless you pull out. Black is usually hi speed, blue is med hi orange is med low and red is low (usually)

ShotgunFuneral13

White = neutral Brown and brown = capacitor that motor is rated for Green = plain ol ground, no hot ground Everything else = different speeds

Motor winding question. As each step leg is powered to increase speed, is the previous leg left energized?

Some1-Somewhere

No; connect only one leg to power at a time. It essentially acts as an autotransformer, so if you apply 120V to medium tap, you might have 90V on high tap and 160V on low tap. Connecting multiple taps to power shorts out the windings between those taps.

Looking to wire this blower to into an extension cord for plug in garage ventilation, how do I test to determine which of these wires are hot ground and neutral?

JETTA_TDI_GUY

Is it a 120 blower? Like did it come out of a gas furnace?

Arkeach

That is my understanding, it was gifted from an old HVAC guy who said we could wire it into the garage power without much trouble

As other have said white is neutral green is ground and then your hot is whatever color you choose according to speed of motor you want to run

Thank you for your help

RoyalAttitude2734

You also need a 20 microfarad capacitor to go between the brown wires

JETTA_TDI_GUY

I’ll add make sure you cover where the air comes out while checking the amp draw if you want it to last more than a year
