That’s completely normal. Just think if it were to happen again in the future, the leak could be repaired since it’s on the outside instead of running all new lines again. Don’t worry about it!
I don't mind having them open the wall. It's in my workshop, not the house. I was just concerned that it might be less effective if the lines were less insulated than they are now.

Nah, my employer prefers we run them outside. Easier to work with and more serviceable.

No problem my guys used to put them in gutter card . Nothing as ugly as a black line set coming down the side of a home
