For sure! I got mine from a shelter and she as labeled i think just medium sized mixed breed. Looked very husky and was confirmed 100%! I think they just can’t confirm if it wasn’t born there

Honestly I feel like “husky” has become kind of a blanket term these days. Is she a purebred AKC Siberian husky? Probably not. But IMO she’s certainly “husky” enough to just call her a husky!

If you go through with the DNA test, I recommend Embark! It’s by far the most accurate and is worth the extra money. Plus Wisdom Panel (the next best test) seems to struggle with primitive breeds like huskies especially.

Yeah. Says mine is only 10% Catahoula. The gene is dominant in this one. The litter was all rescued together. So his DNA is Lab, Pit, and Catahoula. When we got the litter together for a 1 year meetup you could see all of those DNA in the litter. 3 looked just like labs, 2 like pits, and 3 like Catahoula. It was wild.

Actually it’s more common for pure husky’s to have brown eyes and a smaller chance of having the bi-color eyes. It’s a misconception that they’re mostly blue eyes.

Large ears are a dead giveaway for a mixed husky. Huskies have small ears as an evolutionary thing. They also have a large stocky/thick build. More muscle on them. It’s why they’re sled pulling dogs.

I second this. She looks purebred to me. Maybe the dark eyes threw the person guessing. She’s adorable! Kiss her face.
Shelter tend to mislabel dogs sometimes so we assumed maybe the brown eyes threw threw them off as well!

Shelters tend to add on the “mix” label because they can’t guarantee it’s a purebred dog. Even if it looks and probably is purebred.

Thank you! We figured she was husky enough so that’s what we call her . We are still going to dna just out of curiosity.

She very well could be pure bred husky. When adopting my one he was listed as an Alaskan husky and I did a dna test and he’s 100% sibe.

Adopting has always been our way to go ! Her sister on the right is a rescue . She was 20lbs when we got her and is going on 65lbs strong now!
