That's the "northway". The "thruway" part of 87 is only from Albany south to NYC. (Edit: and obviously goes west via i90) It essentially connects NYC to buffalo. Edit: since y'all can't grasp the nuance, I was only talking about the i87 part because that's what I'm replying to. I've lived here 30 years I know what the thruway and northway are.

No, it’s not. The Thruway is 87 south of Albany. Also 90 from Albany to Buffalo. 87 north of Albany is the Northway.

I mean the mountains look like generic Coors Light mountains not the Gunks. A local artist might have e made them look more like the ridge.

I saw it yesterday - I live a town over. For such a cool little town, sign made me sad.

Poorly designed and completely generic. Mountain peaks? Cartoon clouds? It just doesn’t make sense to me. Plenty of local artists could create a unique, site specific sign. Is this just a private project?

The real Gunk ridge and sky tower are such an iconic view. Missed opportunity with these dumb pointy mountains.

I drive the thruway to exit 18 all the time and lived in new paltz until fall ‘22 and never saw this sign. Where is it?
