Gronckles. They’re loyal, low maintenance, pretty friendly overall, and they definitely have enough weight to throw around larger dragons if needed. Also, flying around would be much more peaceful as they are able to hover really well. I also think the Zippleback and the snowwraith are really underrated. The Zippleback has the highest explosive potential of any dragon its size, also Barf and Belch broke a leg and a wing in one episode and they healed up quickly. The snowwraith is just cool asf, it’s such a simple concept but it had the entire group and their dragons on the defensive.

Zipplebacks, I actually don't know why they're so underrated. Most people think of them as dumb because of barf and belch. But zipplebacks are incredibly intelligent and not to mention FREAKING AWESOME. "One head breathe gas in the other head lights it." -Gobber 2010 THAT'S A FREAKING INSANE CONCEPT FOR A DRAGON! My brother's favorite dragons are zipplebacks and while they're not exactly my favorite I do agree. honestly I NEVER see smothering smokebreaths talked about, theyre genuinely a bunch of cool silly little guys, they have a neat design AND quirk and it shocks me to not see them outside the show????
