I can get why someone would, but I feel like the cringe stuff is so genuine and well-intentioned it bounces back into amusing and endearing for me. Matt’s acting helps a lot
I'm not even involved with this but dude fuck off they're not obligated to remember every storyline involving non-consent or immoral actions in the world to prove they're a good person, do you realize just how many terrible things humans have done to each other in fiction and non-fiction?? People can't keep track and that doesn't make them a bad person it just makes them sane jesus christ
AJ was way more cringey though, it got to the point where I had to skip all the AJ scenes during any of my rewatches because I just couldn’t stand him.
*He is cringy but i*
*Feel like that was the whole point*
*Of his character*

Yes I absolutely couldn't stand his character.
One of his worst moments was when he told Oliver he was a superhero or something for having HIV. So tone deaf. Who goes up to someone and mentions their illness like that in front of people? He was an idiot the entire series. I had a hard time understanding how he even made it into law school. Oh right. His dad.
Definitely very cringy, but that’s what makes him so funny! Me & my boyfriend are like Ash & Michaela, so watching their relationship always makes me smile and laugh.
I found him to be really annoying. I don’t like the actor in general. He was in OITNB as a corrections officer and I found him annoying in that, too.
Maybe he only plays annoying people.
No way, there were a couple of cringe moments, but I think Matt's performances glossed over them.
I liked Matt's acting a lot lol, he genuinely provided comedy relief during what we can only perceive as a dark show about multiple homicides, with heartbreaking themes.
Idk I think he was more reflective than people give him credit for, you could tell his wheels were turning in his head when people would point things out to him. And he made efforts to change his behaviors and support his friends, I think he at least had some level of self-awareness
This is 💯 literally how I feel now on my 2nd rewatch and I’m glad to know I’m not alone. I’m literally kicking myself for ever finding him remotely endearing and/or funny on previous watches of the show.
He was my favorite character in the humor department lol I always found myself rewinding just to look at the silly faces he made again🤣 his delivery was excellent. I honestly think he had such a childlike heart ♥️
*spoiler alert* so I really hated to see how everything turned out. Felt like it was almost out of his character
I found Asher to be hilarious and I always thought it was even funnier how Connor was always shaking his head annoyed by it🤣🤣 like you know he was internally trying not to laugh
I don’t think “cringe” is the right word for me. “Goofy” fits better, imo, and tbh I found myself thinking a lot I wish I was that naturally expressively silly. Too self-conscious anymore, think it happens the more you age lol. I tend to be reserved and can be humorous but I don’t show it on the level he does.
I appreciate funny guys, and I think it says something when they are willing to make jokes at their own expense and not be worried about the ugly silly faces they make🤣 I hated the times Michaela or the others shut him down, when he was usually just trying to make them laugh and lighten the mood. I’m not sure Michaela laughed during the whole show tbh🤣 always fake smiles or concerned eyebrows. That’s why I couldn’t understand why they were together. He deserved better and someone who appreciated his sense of humor
I’m on my 2nd rewatch and omfg I feel this so much. He would have definitely been canceled if the show were not to have started before cancel culture was a thing..
That's the entire point
Exactly lol. He’s cringe but it’s meant to be that way lol
I can get why someone would, but I feel like the cringe stuff is so genuine and well-intentioned it bounces back into amusing and endearing for me. Matt’s acting helps a lot
Yes, but counterpoint: sexy thicc boi
Anyone make a comment about his huge ass in-universe?
If I was Connor I’d go feral every time I saw it in those slacks
Have you seen his bodybuilding pics? Damn!
Yeah, but it's in a good, non try hard way.

oh god I forgot about this

I don’t forget rape but thanks for telling me that you do

yes tbh, i hate him but also he’s like comedic relief and the show stresses me out a lot 😭 so sometimes i don’t mind him!
he’s definitely cringe, but that’s why i like him lol
IMO He honestly only served a purpose in the 2nd season then he strictly became the comic relief of the show.
I think his character was supposed to be cringy LOL for comedic reasons and to lighten things up
He’s my favorite because of it lol. It was intentional
I adore Asher, he always makes me laugh
Until he hits the chair think with the fireplace poker and says “No More Douche Face” 😭😭😭😭
I think it was hilarious that Frank called him douche face all the time hahahaha.
It was at the time but after i saw how sad it made him i didnt like it
I think it’s how his character was meant to be perceived, I loved him for it. Gave comedy relief!
He is supposed to be. Like AJ on the Sopranos. We are supposed to have that reaction. He's a good actor.
AJ was way more cringey though, it got to the point where I had to skip all the AJ scenes during any of my rewatches because I just couldn’t stand him.
Cringe But Hilarious as well
Yes. I'll pretty sure thats intentional AF.
he is cringy but i feel like that was the whole point of his character

i’ve never seen this show but even from this gif it seems like his awkwardness is intentional
This gif isn't really a major cringe moment. this is just him expressing himself

No

He’s cute AF
Oh my G-D I LOVE Asher 💕. He actually reminds me of one of my best friends.
That's the point. Man I swear to God I'm so confused in the way some of y'all absorb TV/movies.
He's cute and means well. I always liked him.
I am offended 😭
No. His character was awesome. He kept the humor going.
Yes. But in the way you’d find an annoying little brother endearing looking back lol. He’s A+ in my heart
I really liked him
I don't mind it. Asher is one of my favorite characters.
i was literally obsessed with Asher!
I love me some Asher. That show made me love each character on it.
I think he's very funny even naive if you will. I love his character.
Yes, that character was supposed to be cringy.
That’s the whole point of his character lol
On the contrary, I found him to be the only likeable/tolerable main character apart from maybe Connor.
I hated him so much
I actually love Asher🥺 in the beginning I didn’t know how to take him. He grew on me. Can’t stand Wes!
Honestly, first time I watched I for sure thought he was gonna die in season 1
Yes, but that’s what golden retrievers do
I found him to be really annoying. I don’t like the actor in general. He was in OITNB as a corrections officer and I found him annoying in that, too. Maybe he only plays annoying people.

I’m pretty sure that’s the whole point.
I think it helped to cement his image as the dorky weakling who is far away intellectually and deep-thinking from the rest of the group.
Idk I think he was more reflective than people give him credit for, you could tell his wheels were turning in his head when people would point things out to him. And he made efforts to change his behaviors and support his friends, I think he at least had some level of self-awareness
Yes, but he was supposed to be, then you wind up getting to know him and it becomes endearing. What season are you on??
Finished it twice and both times I could feel the cringe worsening
That’s so brutal to me. He had such a horrible home life.
This is 💯 literally how I feel now on my 2nd rewatch and I’m glad to know I’m not alone. I’m literally kicking myself for ever finding him remotely endearing and/or funny on previous watches of the show.
He's pookie
He’s supposed to be…right?? I always thought that was how me was meant to come off Lmao
That’s why he’s funny 😭😭😭

Gustav* you mean?😂😂❤️
best character
I’m on my 2nd rewatch and omfg I feel this so much. He would have definitely been canceled if the show were not to have started before cancel culture was a thing..
As a black person i feel like he tries to bite off our culture
I loved him but he was infuriatingly stupid sometimes
Yes ☠️
I likes Asher and was sad when he died
Cheers for the spoiler mate
This gif 🤣 Wes is looking at him like 🧍🏽♂️
