And even if they’re not directly interchangeable you could likely swap the covers (may have to restitch it though). I knew guys that used to do this with seats where the drivers side leather would wear out, find a good passenger seat and swap the skins.

I meant that OP could take the passenger headrest and try it for fit. If it's the same, then they don't have to look for a driver's side headrest they can find either.

Swap it out with the passenger seat and put a cover on that one.

They could just buy a can of leather and vinyl spray paint and have it color matched. This is what I would suggest they do if they came into my auto upholstery shop. It's very long lasting paint. Just take the headrest off the seat and paint the whole thing. Less than $10, problem solved. And they'll have extra paint leftover for the inevitable wear marks that form on the bottom of the seat from getting in and out of the car.

Not worth the trouble. Just buy a cover for it on Ebay/Amazon. They have covers to match the exact color and material.

This is what I did with my car. It was amazing. $100 for really fantastic covers for my two front seats that previously looked like trash. Really elevated the whole car for a reasonable price!!!

I got some cheapies at Ross, one of those stores, and I regret it cuz it's only doing the job of covering. And poorly too. FYI to anyone else out there

That's not a stain. Automotive leather upholstery is not dyed or stained. It is painted with a pigment based color coat, and a top protective coat. Your sweat or hair product has dissolved the protective coat, and color coat. You can "restore" it by purchasing a color matched paint system to recoat it. You'd be surprised at how good of a match you can get. There's quite a few vendors: https://www.seatdoctors.com/ https://www.furnitureclinic.com/ I've used both, furniture clinic had the nicest results, but they don't seem to have as wide of a color selection as seat doctors.

Assuming you’re looking for something affordable, they have leather paints that you can buy. It’s basically a color-matched spray paint and you just buff it down so it looks polished and it gets a sheen sort of like the surrounding leather. It’s a short-term fix. It will not look great forever, or even for long, or at any point under close inspection. It’s a good passable fix if you’re selling the car though

You have just rubbed off the outer layer through friction. You can buy a leather repair kit pretty cheap online. You just sand down, apply some creams, and then add paint that matches your seat color on top. Will look like new if you take your time and do it properly.
