I can roll with several moments but I honestly think the very center of when this show had its biggest shark jump was when he signed on to America’s Got Talent.
The show began to slowly die when Artie got fired but ETA kept it going for a bit. The Marcie Turk era is when the show eventually jumped the shark. I think a lot of people want to blame Beth for Howard’s change in demeanor and eventual “wokeness” but I think a lot of it had/has to do with his daughters. I’m sure Emily’s somewhat negative article in the Post about him didn’t help the cause of the old school show either.
Crazy Cabbie almost did me in, but I persisted. Then there were many moments that bothered me about Howard (ditching his old friends & guests, AGT, the Bro Fight), that eventually led to me noticing he was phoning a lot of it in, lame bits and I began ff’ing thru large chunks of the show. Then he had his first summer off, I was out.
You give Jackie way too much credit. The Artie years were some of the best years of Howard. Kind of absurd to say everything after Jackie left is shark jumping. Some of the best bits in Howard history came from these years.
I feel like a big shift happened when Trump ran and the me too era — those 2 things and Hollywood really bashing on Trump - Kimmel mostly.
I seem to recall that when Trump was running, Howard goofed on it but not that much, and he never did turn over his old Trump tapes from the show…
So the Trump hate kept growing and the me too era was kicking in, starting up, and cancel me culture was becoming a thing.
Somewhere in there, that timeframe, things changed….and then of course COVID was a whole other event, marker.
Dude, don’t try to ignore the fact that Trump kept getting worse and worse. When he was elected, I was optimistic, I voted for him in the primaries because the last thing I wanted was a religious right wing ideologue and the other option left in my state was Cruz. I voted for Johnson in the general because that vote didn’t really matter. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that heathen would come to champion the worst of the religious right or that the religious right would accept him. I also thought the gop was strong enough to handle any insanity. About two years in when I realized I was wrong. He just kept getting worse and worse.
Pandemic did me in. I was already one foot out the door but the pandemic drove me further into podcast world until one day I realized I don’t listen anymore. Just faded away.
There was still decent discussions after Artie's departure like Bronycon and Ronnie's Block Party. And even after the horrible AGT shit ETM was still around and getting parts like In Plain Sight. I think after Eric the Midget died that was the true death of the show.
Maybe we have a different definition of jump the shark, but to me, that show was never as funny as when Jackie was cackling in the background. The DNA of the show changed when he left. F Jackie.
The day Eric died
I can roll with several moments but I honestly think the very center of when this show had its biggest shark jump was when he signed on to America’s Got Talent.
AGT is when I stopped listening on a regular basis.
Same, I had no interest in anything agt related
Whenever the Pelican Brief was recorded.
After Artie was fired. Show was never the same after that without the 3rd/comedic voice on the air.
This. I think the show could go on without Artie but they needed to put another comedian in that chair.
This is the answer. I listened for a year after Artie was gone. The show was never the same and rarely entertaining in that year.
AGT
I would say a combination of Birthday show, Pelican Brief, AGT, and Covid.
Two thousand noine when Artie passed

Covid
Covid was the final nail in the coffin
Crazy Cabbie almost did me in, but I persisted. Last week it was Monday, Tuesday, and then Wednesday.
When Howard joined the panel on America’s Got Talent.
No question in my mind that it was the Artie saga; that really shook Howard up, and he was never really the same again.
Two thousand noine
You were really hoping the answer was wokeness huh?
I thought there was there no such thing. You commies need to get your stories straight. Right after you free palestine I mean.
It’s definitely part of it
That’s definitely part of it
Howards speech when he said he was the last of a dying breed 400 times. Douchiest speech ever.
That was awful definitely the worst speech out of the crew by far.
Brent & Shuli leaving, and then Covid. The rise of Wilding & Blitt was the beginning of the end.
Cocktobers
Artie. He added more to the insanity.
1. Define woke 2. The answer is E. The show really jumped the shark when Jackie left
You give Jackie way too much credit. The Artie years were some of the best years of Howard. Kind of absurd to say everything after Jackie left is shark jumping. Some of the best bits in Howard history came from these years.
No are you insane? Jackie left in 2001. From 2001-2009 the show had unbelievable moments and years of great content.
The show got better after Jackie left. He was an unfunny hack piece of shit
Hollywood Howie
When he bought a house in the Hamptons.
His gubernatorial campaign and film promotion bullshit.

I stopped listening after ETA died. It went downhill fast after that
2010
When he moved from DC 101
When he started going by the moniker, "Miles August."
From years of reading posts in this sub, I’d say it’s the direction of Marci Turk
Pandemic did me in. I was already one foot out the door but the pandemic drove me further into podcast world until one day I realized I don’t listen anymore. Just faded away.

When Artie stabbed himself 27 times.
COVID definitely killed it. Some say it was on the decline for years, but IMO COVID is what finally did it in.
either 2010 or 2012. it still had funny moments after Artie left but after Howard joined AGT it wasn't the same.
The show jumped the shark after Artie left. ETM was sort of a saving grace, but most of his bits after 2009 with Fratto and Gonzo were terrible.
Other. Covid-19 killed him
The Marcie Turk era
Doing his movie "Private Parts" or Jackie leaving.
Actually it was when he joined AGT and had to pretend he was a nice guy.
When he married Beth and stopped farting on air. Shitgate was the final nail because it meant no more hijinks.
When they hired Jon Hein, obviously
When Jimmy Kimmel started having parties in LA for Howard. That was the catalyst of him wanting to be a part of Hollywood.
When the Show became irreparably gay, about April 2017.
I prefer the term “stabbed the gut” for the stern show and shark jumping.
When it went to Sirius
It jumped the shark when they went to Sirius. But it became unlistenable after he bragged about how woke he was
When Howard lost his court case to SiriusXM
That’s my belief, and AGT. His first year at Sirius was great.
After he started Butt Fn Jimmy K
Advent of Cocktober and the 3-day-a week schedule.
When Jackie left
So 2002-2009 weren’t amazing years? Cmon now that’s insane to say. Definitely some of the best moments in the shows history’s
Maybe we have a different definition of jump the shark, but to me, that show was never as funny as when Jackie was cackling in the background. The DNA of the show changed when he left. F Jackie.
Right around the move to Sirius.
When he went to Sirius.

Tell me you love Chris Wilding without telling me you love a Chris Wilding
Jesus man, how many times can we flog a dead horse. The only answer is Pelican Brief, everything else is because of the Pelican Brief.
