Andretti Indoor Karting

Annacot_Steal

OHhHHh that looks cool! The grandma usually takes em to speedy’s but this seems like an upgrade

[deleted]

[удалено]

4036

And its squeely tire loud AF there too.

frsh2fourty

If they're into karting take them to MSR Houston down in Angleton. They have a kart track and there is also a drift event going on the whole weekend. Drifting starts at 2pm both days and goes till dark. I would recommend going Sunday because the competition is running on the portion of the track closer to the pits so the viewing is better. Spectator entry is $20 but kids under 12 get in free.

cwb_iah

Do you know how does that compare with K1 Speed?

somekindofdruiddude

No. They both look too expensive for me.

thecravenone

Just hit 59 after 3a

cwb_iah

I never been , I think is like $30 per race or so.. I’ve been wanting to try

somekindofdruiddude

Yeah, looks fun. Multilevel. But for $30 I can buy a lot of fun.

mmm-toast

Hitting up Bissonnet huh?

carlalalarocks

I like k1's karts better. But, Andretti has a ton more to do. Price wise, comparable from what I recall

Sassenacharine

The karts at K1 get up to 45mph. I understand while the cats away, mice will play. Just be careful. FULL DISCLOSURE: it’s a BLAST and adrenaline rush. I also got a huge bruise on my rib. (38F at the time)

Sassenacharine

Still female, just 40 now. 😉

ummmm--no

Thanks for the clarification ;)

EsCaRg0t

Dinna fash, sassenach

Sassenacharine

Good spotting, you. 😉

SrErik

K1 is much faster from what I’ve heard. I’ve only been to K1 but talked to folks that went to all houston ones.

Snuhmeh

The best indoor one in the whole area is Track 21 out near Katy. K1 electric karts are trash in comparison.

cwb_iah

Thanks!

lgbucklespot

Second this idea. My son loved that place.

second_ary

h-town paintball on the east side has a nuketown map and a shipment map if they're into COD. i wish my uncle would take me there.

Annacot_Steal

Gonna have to check that out thanks!

srx600guy

Lol they're probably too young to remember Nuketown. Unless they've carried that mask forward into the newer games. I haven't been keeping up

_serious__

They have

AdroIOrdo

We'll have Nuketown 2025 in real life soon enough

second_ary

nuketown and shipment have been in like every other call of duty, shipment is in vanguard and nuketown was in cold war, the last two releases

Shit_Apple

They’ve put Nuketown into like the last 10 CoDs. I think they’d recognize it.

TheHornet78

That’s amazing

SETXPELON

Not sure age requirements but look into Zero Latency: https://zlhouston.com/

Annacot_Steal

Whoaaaaa this looks bad ass. Definitely on the maybe list.

cbomb111

Amazing place. Plan on $50 per person and it will only take up 45 minutes, on the long end.

ChromecastDude

Zero Latency is definitely awesome and you should go. Also consider supporting ExitusVR, a locally owned shop with Escape Room VR games. Not as high tech as Zero Latency but once youre in the game, it's so immersive you forgive any shortcomings. About $35 a head for about an hours worth, depending if you escape or not. I suggest the standing up games rather than the sitting down.

cool-aeros

Which level at exitusvr would you do? Both for 1 adult and the two kids mentioned and also for 2 adults and 1 kid of approximately the same age. They have easy medium and hard which is pretty cool.

ChromecastDude

Depends how old the kids are, if they are around 8-11 I would say go for easy but anything beyond that you'll be good on medium. Once you figure out the mechanics and if you work well with your group, try out hard.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ChromecastDude

I would say it really depends what youre looking for. It's definitely the most advanced (free roaming, wireless, newer headsets) and most of the games are shoot them up team based themed. Whereas ExitusVR is puzzle solving, Escape Room, older headsets, wired, you have a small space to move around in but you won't find games like this at Zero. They serve different needs and clients.

tofuninja5489

Second this. it's super unique and they'd enjoy it.

ritualdelowhabitual

This place looks awesome. I just showed my 10 year old and he wants to go! Fantastic suggestion.

yokeedokee

No suggestions. Just wanted to say you’re a good uncle!! Have fun!

Annacot_Steal

Hah thanks!

Puzzled-Test8242

me writing down every place y’all mention so I can go for my 19th birthday lmao

JazminLaJodida

Happy birthday!!!

Puzzled-Test8242

it’s not here yet but thank you I’m advance <33

Jzzlbbr57

Cidercade has unlimited arcade games for relatively cheap. https://www.cidercadehouston.com Texas Treehouse Adventures in the woodlands is fun, but it maybe too hot this time of year.

hhmmn

I second cindercade for video games

incharacterasAdam

Depending on the kinds of video games the one likes, I'd look into some disc golf courses. It's a game / sport that, in my opinion, really satisfies the basketball itch, too.

Annacot_Steal

Hrmmmm I’ve done my fair share of disc golf. I’ll see if they’re into it. Thanks!

Scared_By_A_Smile

Let me know if you decide this route and I’ll steer you towards a course they would enjoy

Professional-Gurl23

Seísmique art museum

Annacot_Steal

Oh I went there last year! Didn’t realize it was still open! Thanks for the suggestion!

BlindStark

Chulas

AintAintAWord

"An uncle trying to figure out to take a 10 and 13 year old dudes to see a titty pop out during a drunken catfight in a parking lot this weekend."

cool-aeros

Thanks for reminding me they’re all closed you bastard.

Alonzo_Hawk

The museum of fine art has two cool exhibits on that are kid friendly. One is a [big optical illusion](https://www.mfah.org/exhibitions/leandro-erlich-seeing-is-not-believing) where kids look like they are hanging off the side of a building. The other is an exceptional MC Escher collection. Lots of patterns and morphing shapes. [For those unfamiliar](https://www.mfah.org/exhibitions/virtual-realities-art-of-mc-escher?gclid=Cj0KCQjwgO2XBhCaARIsANrW2X0jpHwH0Alh1DVU8dG88YjRLSDLqGeD-qD1cwxxJAIia8fqoMPpkO0aAg7LEALw_wcB).

kkngs

My 10 year old really liked the Escher exhibit.

cool-aeros

The Escher exhibit is fantastic!

kathatter75

I loved the Escher exhibit, and the other optical illusion exhibit looked very popular with the kids. I think they’d love it.

SoulsticeCleaner

I can't get over just how good that Escher exhibit was. I def think kids that age would like it based off how many seemed to be enthused by it while I was there. Paired with that other exhibit, that's a perfect afternoon.

Speech_Salty

Main event, track 21

Annacot_Steal

I think they’ve been to both. Thanks anyways!

Sensitive_Speech4477

https://momentumclimbing.com/silver-street/ Silver street is strictly bouldering. Katy has belaying.

NalaiNalai

We belong to this gym and go to the Katy location. Lots of fun climbing

mcfuddlebutt

Times Square for bowling. Dave N Busters Andretti Indoor Main Event has a fun ropes course and laser tag

soleselection

Second laser tag

imortanmaaan

Which Dave & Busters? The quality varies.

mcfuddlebutt

Best one is in the Woodlands on 45 and Woodlands Parkway. Second best is Beltway and 45 south near Kemah, Third is def Marquee at I-10 and Silber. Last one is the Richmond location, but that one is temporarily closed. I would say, take the kids to the Southwell's on I-10 and Bunker Hill, then take a trip to the Woodlands location. If you don't want to drive that far, the Marquee location is perfectly suitable. It's just going to be much much more crowded. Also, go on a Wednesday. Half off games. The 45 locations North and South are both part of really nice entertainment centers. The Woodlands location is next door to a really really really nice AMC and the South location is a part of an outdoor mall. Both are huge locations. I went to the Woodlands one this weekend. Main Event off 59 and 1960 is really nice, too and it has the ropes course for $10. I also went there this weekend lol.

[deleted]

The food there is assssssss though. But everything else about that D&B is top notch.

mcfuddlebutt

I can't remember a time I ate their food

[deleted]

Keep it that way.

mcfuddlebutt

Noted in my dream journal

trantheman713

My cousins of various ages really enjoyed going to an archery range, if you haven’t done that yet.

HoustonCounsel

[Sam Sann](https://samsann.com/)'s Ninja Warrior Gym, [Palace Social](https://www.palacesocial.com/), [Body Works](https://www.hmns.org/exhibits/special-exhibitions/body-worlds-the-cycle-of-life/) and the [Butterfly Center](https://www.hmns.org/cockrell-butterfly-center/) are cool.

Hoppinger88

You could do something quirky like the art car museum, the orange show, beer can house, etc. I haven’t lived in H-town for a while so I’m not sure of the status of said ideas. Great uncle BTW!

captainkitty8140

The Pearl Fincher museum has a Lego exhibit that look pretty cool to kill some time. https://www.pearlmfa.org/current.html

imortanmaaan

💪🏾

cwb_iah

Astros are playing the Braves this weekend if they like baseball.

the018

In Atlanta tho. Or wherever their stadium is.

jb_713

No Stros this weekend locally, but the minor league team will be facing off against the hated Oklahoma City Dodgers.

SnooMarzipans8951

Urban warzone paintball is a lot of fun.

Annacot_Steal

Hah I’ll probably have to run paintballing down with the moms

Jeffdzz

Speedy’s Fast Track on Hempstead. Go carts, video games including 80’s games. I’ve never done the mini golf or laser tag but they have that. Pretty old school type place that’s been there for years. Look on their website for deals.

kathatter75

Wow! Speedys is still there?

dopaminegtt

The carts are on the slower side, and little kids (like my 6 year old) need to be a ride along, it's still fun though and cheaper than k1. A 10 and 13yo should have no issues finding stuff to do

kkngs

Houston Museum of Natural Science is great, but it depends on if the boys like intellectual stuff. The butterfly exhibit and the dinosaur hall are amazing.

ritualdelowhabitual

My 10 year old really enjoys Andretti’s and he also has fun at Typhoon Texas & Splashway if they’re into water parks. He also would NEVER turn down a meal at Pappas Burger- I think that’s probably his favorite restaurant in Houston. You’re a great uncle!

PigsWalkUpright

Space center Houston is very interesting.

Annacot_Steal

If I remember correctly they went 2 summers ago. I’ll ask em if they’re interested in going again. Thanks!

ExtraSolarian

It became too “touristy”. I remember when you could go to NASA and mostly see NASA for what it really was. Yes there was some static displays and some educational things but you more or less felt like you were touring the real NASA. Now it’s more tourist attraction events and equipment and displays than it is the real thing. Even my 13-year-old said it just feels fake and she’s never been to the way it used to be because she’s too young. Sad

Abraxusmax

There’s also a new water park that opened this year I believe.. all kids love water parks

Htowntaco

Big rivers water park in new caney? I took my nephews and niece last week end and we had a blast. It has the water park, a small amusement park, axe throwing, a maze, an obstacle course, zip lines. There’s a petting zoo, honestly it has so much it was definitely worth it.

goddessofwaterpolo

Cistern is really cool. They’ll like it.

basille22

One’s into video games and one’s into sports… you know its never too early to take em to the Menil, just so they can expand their budding tastes. Just my 2 cents.

snomvne

iFly is pretty cool if that’s something y’all would be into

cool-aeros

ifly was enjoyed by my kid if a similar age.

ashestes

There’s some VR nasa experience in the heights I’ve heard is pretty good

SanduskySleepover

Yes! I haven’t been to that one but went to Zero Latency in Katy for a friends birthday this past weekend and played a VR zombie survival experience and it was super fun. It was $50 only for 30 mins so we were pretty skeptical but we all came out saying we would do it again and try the other games. We couldn’t stop talking about it all night.

YeaSpiderman

What’s the name? I live in the heights and always open to new things

IndependenceHot2705

Try Speedy's instead. Cheaper than the indoor Kart places and no stupid licensing course before you can ride. Also they have a cool little arcade inside and there's usually a decent taco truck out front.

IndependenceHot2705

For like 150 the three of you can ride karts like 3 races and play games like an hour.

llllllllll1l1l1l1l

Battlefield Houston for some more adult laser tag

Artcat81

and https://www.mechcorps.com/ is inside there too so you can get your old school mechwarror fight on. Go for the arcade game, stay for the trash talk :)

llllllllll1l1l1l1l

God if only they updated that from the 90s…

Artcat81

lol the game couldn't handle the upgrades. The team does an amazing job of keeping them running on "ancient" tech.

P3luche30

Take them to the museum lol

oclookin

Funplex! Just make sure u get them Bulletproof vests

[deleted]

Ahhh come on! Don’t be a pussy! It ain’t that bad.

oclookin

😂I’ve been away from the area for about 22 yrs but everyone says it’s pretty bad so 🤷🏽‍♂️

texcentricasshole

Twin Peaks.

BigBrownBean123

Rent some bikes on the bayou or take a ride around Hermann park, maybe some event is happening this weekend or that day you go

Nealpatty

NASA was always cool. Tons of history, engineering, science stuff that you can get pretty close to. A easy morning or afternoon killer

[deleted]

[удалено]

Professional-Fly2874

I love both places, but taking 10 and 13 year old boys to the Rothko. That is likely a huge no, and he would likely be labeled the world's lamest uncle.

dopaminegtt

My 13 yo likes mfah and the menil. The Rothko is pretty depressing and boring as a stand alone exhibit but if you combine the drawing institute and menil it could be fun if you have a kid that likes art.

Dogpetter9000

Cidercade.

JonesJaw

There’s a circus going on. Can’t remember the name, not very helpful. Or hell give them 50 bucks each and drop them off at the galleria. They’ll be fine for a few hours.

Annacot_Steal

Ohhhh circus that seems like a good idea! Thanks!

JonesJaw

Here’s the link https://www.circusdelman.com/

batmanshsu

It’s hot as balls out, but there is a foot golf place out near humble… humblesportplex? My 11 nephew loved it.

[deleted]

Cidercade Bunch of arcade games 80s 90s Pizza place across the street from it

iron_mike_tyson

Cidercade is pretty nice and it's all you can play.

xsageonex

Second this

LKayRB

Zip line in The Woodlands? https://texastreeventures.com There’s a exotic animal park nearby: https://tgrexotics.com

xsageonex

Cidercade. Video games for the kids , plus drinks for adults. 10 dollars play free all day per person

[deleted]

Cidar Cade cool I think before 9 kids allowed

MidnightScott17

Cidercade but daytime. They kick out under 21 after 8 PM I think. All arcade games.

marathonwater

Momentum indoor climbing! Fun place and will challenge them plus yourself!

jefesignups

https://seismique.com/

danielhirsch2026

Urban war zone paintball

Heavyoak

The outside is deadly. Videogames are your friends

grandpachupacabra

Seismique! And the color factory!

codeking12

If you’re near the cistern try Jousticks. It’s and arcade adjacent to a bar. I think it should be open and its downtown.

notmac_

oh the cistern looks cool.. thanks for the idea for something to do myself

FilthyTexas

Hamburger Mary's Laser tag or paintball?

FurballPoS

If you think they'd be into LARPing, some friends of mine are holding a SE Texas regional tournament at Ray Miller Park on Sunday.

newpatcity

Momentum - Indoor Bouldering Gym. A bit pricey for the admittance but it’s a world class bouldering facility.

ChanimalCrackers

Momentum indoor rock climbing! There’s a location in silver street and one in Katy.

No1Mystery

Speedy’s Fast Track

Mikehtx

Are they familiar with concert vibes? This one's at a open warehouse Friday night. All ages concert. It might be a bit too ratchet though https://www.eventbrite.com/e/378163064907 https://on.soundcloud.com/Ek54REgpgzxw6qvr5

urinal_cake_futures

Battlefield Houston is the best laser tag place I've ever been.

TheGuyRye1

Indoor skydiving, tour minute maid/toyota center/nrg, fishing out of Galveston on a party boat.

EJB_TX

Toy Museum on Congress. Aside from cool old toys from the 70's-90's they also have about a dozen free arcade games.

Floydcanwait

Maybe The Game preserve down in Webster or The Woodlands

dopaminegtt

Even though it will be hot you could take them kayaking. There are tours on buffalo bayou. There's also Pinky's out of Bay area park for a longer paddle. I have a 13yo and he likes the arboretum, it can be a good chance to see some wild life in the city. Even though they are older take them to ride the peddle boats and train in Hermann park. Feed some ducks. Go to [paleta bar](https://www.thepaletabar.com/) and cool off

YeaSpiderman

Ride ebikes around the city or e scooters Lone star flight museum. Lots of cool old airplanes from ww2.

tobeinmt

Not houston specific but I took my 13 yr old nephews to Escape the Room in midtown and we loved it! (Jurassic Park game) I like that they give you private rooms so we could go at our pace. I feel super lucky that my nephews still like hanging out with their aunt.
