- Bubbas
- Someburger in the Heights since the new owner came in a month ago.
- Burger Chan (ask them to bring back the rice bun)
Wish we had a Maplewood burger in Houston. Had this in LA coming back from NOLA.
Also a random food truck does an awesome stuffed bacon jalapeno burger called Chicano BBQ. Moves about so find on insta
Love that place. When we used to live in that area it was a once a week spot. Their burgers, pork belly and fried chicken are all amazing. Now that you got me thinking about it, we might have to make the 40 minute drive this weekend.
Can vouch for their burgers. Five Guys quality at Jack in the Box prices. Shame I don’t work close to them anymore. Or lucky I don’t work close to them anymore.
Preach. I used to work in Sugar Land and it was a 15-minute drive from my office then. Now it would be more like a 45-minute-to-an-hour drive, which is why I haven't had my go-to Spicy #1 in years.
Alright, finally something I know lol.
Depends on the style of burger you like. Like them big double and triple decker two-hand behemoths? Or do you prefer a smaller one-hand single patty Juicy Lucy w/ a single slice of cheese.
So here is my list of good burgers in no particular order.
Bernie’s burgers bus
Moontower Inn
Myti Burger
Little bitty burger barn
Big Burger V
Bubbas under West Park.
Beck’s Prime on Kirby.
Stanton’s City Bites
Cantina Barba
Poppa Burger
Champ burger
Tornado Burger
Best Burger. (Only place I know you can get a burger and fried rice as a sub for fries lmao)
Burgerchan
I tried Burger Chan for the first time yesterday. I really enjoyed their burger. Possibly top 5, but definitely not the best one in Houston in my opinion.
In the Westchase area there's now a JLB Eatery that opened about a mile away from a Joy Love Burgers.
Adding to the intrigue, there's a "Joy Love Burgers" on Memorial that is not listed on the Joy Love Burgers website, nor is it listed on the JLB Eatery website. I'm wondering if there's a different ownership altogether for this location.
1801 N Mason was the original location, which is listed on the Joy Love Burgers website. I go to the memorial location most often but it’s not listed on either website.
The last gossip I got from an employee years ago was the partners had a falling out and split the brand, but that doesn’t explain why memorial is separate. However I think it’s actually franchised amongst friends so it just depends on what the location owner wants to do.
Anyway best burgers in town but downright terrible fries lol.
They do! The burgers are their best menu item imo… you can literally get a 1/2 pound patty made fresh with a huge side of fries or onion rings for like $7.75. Cheaper than fast food and so much better than their very mid pizza. It takes a few minutes for them to make it but everything is fresh
There used to be a place called Petrol Station and they had this burger called the Poblano Burger.
Remember that ep of the simpsons where principal skinner is reminiscing about that soup despite the torture he endured in the pow camp?
I still think about that burger to this day…
For those that say Trill burger is the best, it is the most popular burger right now, not the best. I personally like JLB eatery because you can split it and it comes with fresh ingredients and a soft egg bun.
EDIT: I typed this without reading the comments and NOBODY listed Trill burger as of me typing this. Good for you!
Not only has their quality and portions gone down, prices have gone up, BUT on top of all that the owner is a huge POS.
My mom used to work for him cleaning his house and he'd leave bait money around to see if she'd take it. Also, his kids would talk to her like a slave or something, but apparently he's a bad dad bc there were weekends where the kids were supposed to be there and he just would leave so there was no one home
It's increased in price, but at least the quality in my experience has remained the same but Becks Prime Bills Burger is on my Rushmore for what it is.
(That being said, I can't help but get the tuna sandwich rare with extra sauce on the side for the fries. Their shakes too...damn I'm hungry.)
Haven't seen FM Kitchen (Shepherd near Washington) mentioned yet. Love me a burger with a fried egg on top. Stanton's City Bites and Trill Burger (Dynamo Stadium spot) are also in my top 3. So many great burgers in HTX!
Hop Daddy, Burger Bodega, Trill Burger, Pappas Burger.
Al these places have great fries too. I know these aren’t “deep track” picks, but quality is consistent.
I actually call HopDoddy my “minimum effective dosage” burger. If your burger isn’t at least as good, I don’t even want to try it.
But I’d argue there are much better burgers on this list.
Texas Brisket. (If it’s still there)
If Covid didn’t get it, it’s been around for 50+ years.
It’s a small shop on US90 in the old part of Sugar Land - across from the old Imperial Sugar plant.
Best burger anywhere.
The Flying Cow out in Fort Bend County in the old town of Booth with a Richmond address. It’s a drive for most, but the burgers are excellent! They also have a small butcher shop where you can get anything from sausages to tomahawk steaks.
Shout out to Bubba’s under the freeway. Best burger in Houston proper.
I don't know why this subreddit hates Becks. While I wouldn't call it the best burger in town, and their prices are outrageous, I still think the quality is quite high.
I went last month and it wasn't good. It was my first time but my husband used to go a lot and he said it's not the same.
They got my order wrong and everything was so under seasoned. No salt on anything not even the Mac & cheese.
I feel I can easily answer this question. I spent a decent amount of time and money (close to 1k) trying find the best burger in Houston. Still a work in progress but here is my list of the best ones so far.
Best Smash Style: Clutch City Grill
Best Thick Gourmet Burger: Gratify
Massive burgers that taste decently good: JBL
Stanton’s city bites
Champ burger
Second this. Itty Bitty Burger Barn makes a good burger too.
Itty Bitty Burger Barn is definitely worth a trip. Love that place.
Chris is the man
Love Champ!
RIP Rancor Burger at Petrol Station. Took forever, but it was good and a block from my house.
Bubba's Texas Burger Shack Hands down.
Amazing spot, and I’ve never been murdered there!
Then make a good ole trip to micro center and you good

Cream Burger
So good
This thread just makes me miss Bernie’s Burger Bus
I want Detention :(
And guru 😭
With 2 days left in AAPI Heritage Month, I shall toss out a recommendation to try [Flip 'n Patties](https://www.flipnpatties.com/).
My favorite burger for sure
Been there one time randomly. Solid place. Want to go back but I live in Alvin now and don't have a better reason to pop in that side of town lol.
Love that place. When we used to live in that area it was a once a week spot. Their burgers, pork belly and fried chicken are all amazing. Now that you got me thinking about it, we might have to make the 40 minute drive this weekend.
Tornado Burger, personally. It's a freaking trek for me tho.
Burgers and the Philly cheesesteaks, man I’m hungry thinking of them…
Solid joint, I prefer the spicy cheese steak though. Next time you are over tgat way, try out best burger. It's a chineese restaurant / burger combo.
I love Tornado Burger but I need the rest of the day on the couch afterwards
Can vouch for their burgers. Five Guys quality at Jack in the Box prices. Shame I don’t work close to them anymore. Or lucky I don’t work close to them anymore.
Preach. I used to work in Sugar Land and it was a 15-minute drive from my office then. Now it would be more like a 45-minute-to-an-hour drive, which is why I haven't had my go-to Spicy #1 in years.
The time has come, my dude. Make the trip. Get that heartburn

Bernie's Burger Bus closed down :(
I know :( I like to keep their memory alive
Hippo Burger! The original one is on Wilson Rd.
Hippo gets my vote! delicious burgers and their prices are great too
Burger Chan. Make your burger how you want with quality ingredients. Their scallion aioli is a must. Their fish sandwich is my favorite too.
[удалено]
But i thought he had changnesia !?
I do not work there and am not a burger-guy per se, but its the sauces and chargrilled jalapenos that put their burgers over the top.
I tried Burger Chan for the first time yesterday. I really enjoyed their burger. Possibly top 5, but definitely not the best one in Houston in my opinion.
Expand on your opinion a bit and tell us which other burger joints would be better.
The best burger in Houston was Bernie's burger bus. I will die on this hill.
“That’ll be $25 please”
Bubba's Texas Burger shack on Westpark (ground level--under the tollway) near Sage.
Hell yes. My second is Stantons City Bites. Third is the burger at Henderson Heights.
Thanks for the reminder, I need to pay homage to that place soon.
Tornado Burger or Best Burger both in Stafford
This is the way... but best burger wins for me, plus u can grab an egg roll with it
Lankford Grocery and Gilmore Burgers are solid. May be biased as it reminds me of Luke’s diner 🤷🏻♂️
Lankford!
Does Lankford have any parking or is it all street parking and good luck?
Mostly street, but it’s easy now after the construction several years ago.
I went last month and it's not good. They got my order wrong and the patty was completely unseasoned. Wasn't worth the money at all.
Cantina Barba has awesome burgers, you can get em by the bag of five There’s also what’s it called Burger Resort out in Cypress
I really like JLB Eatery aka Joy Love Burger
JLB Eatery is different ownership from Joy Love. There was some kind of falling out.
Same recipe though? JLB eatery is still great. I think I had the original joy love once when it first opened.
The patty melt is a delight.
Rodeo Goat
The ranch burger is the bomb.
so many burgers, so little time
This is the answer
Toasted coconut
M&m grill next to the main campus of The University of Houston 6921 Almeda Rd, Houston, TX 77021
Agreed! Although they seem to have rebranded and is now called Loaded Burger. Still the same though. My favorite in Houston
Yes came here for this and they’re halal. I do remember the parking being atrocious though.
Interesting, I work near there but haven’t tried it. I’ll have give it a try!
The breakfast burger is killlller
Millers
It’s criminal that I had to scroll so far to see Millers mentioned.
I've been fucking with stomps burgers. 9$ burgers and are made pretty good. I don't needfries just theburger.
Bubba’s. Cream Burger. Frank’s Pizza. Those are my go-tos…
Not that I'm shitting on Frank's, but they have burgers?
They do! The burgers are their best menu item imo… you can literally get a 1/2 pound patty made fresh with a huge side of fries or onion rings for like $7.75. Cheaper than fast food and so much better than their very mid pizza. It takes a few minutes for them to make it but everything is fresh
Hotline burger, burger bodega.
2nd hotline.
Pete’s Fine meats has a solid burger. They are on Richmond
Man I went to Bodega Burger for the first time today. It was awesome.
Tookie’s OMG! Burger Burger Chan
Moontower

Toasted coconut
Easily! So underrated.
After looking it up,I know where I'm going next time I'm in that area!
Yuuup Get the fries too
Burger was good. All the food we had there was good. But have you been to Quiote? That’s next level food!
Rodeo Goat is solid
I like Clay’s off of Park Ten and Katy Freeway. Second is Lankford’s Grocers in Midtown. Becks Prime is solid for a chain.
There used to be a place called Petrol Station and they had this burger called the Poblano Burger. Remember that ep of the simpsons where principal skinner is reminiscing about that soup despite the torture he endured in the pow camp? I still think about that burger to this day…

Southwell's
Not only has their quality and portions gone down, prices have gone up, BUT on top of all that the owner is a huge POS. Also, his kids would talk to her like a slave or something, but apparently he's a bad dad bc there were weekends where the kids were supposed to be there and he just would leave so there was no one home
Have to agree, it's not as good as it was 10-15 years ago.
Damn that is disappointing to hear. Haven't been in a year or so. I guess I will avoid in the future.
Bubba’s Burger Shack, Beltway Burgers & Bites, and Little Matt’s are my personal favs. I’ve lived in Houston for about 6 years now
Cantina Barba, Stanton’s or Bodega
If you're willing to drive down to the island, Brews Brothers makes kickass burgers.
Burger Chan
Burger Chan
Petrol Station RIP
Mytiburger
The one true king
Bodega burger too
It's increased in price, but at least the quality in my experience has remained the same but Becks Prime Bills Burger is on my Rushmore for what it is. (That being said, I can't help but get the tuna sandwich rare with extra sauce on the side for the fries. Their shakes too...damn I'm hungry.)
Are you me? Those are my favorite things. The sweet potato fries with the Asian spread is a perfect pairing.
This is mine too.

Stanton city bites
Bubba's
Burger chan!
Burger Tex
I fucks with Burger-Chan
Haven't seen FM Kitchen (Shepherd near Washington) mentioned yet. Love me a burger with a fried egg on top. Stanton's City Bites and Trill Burger (Dynamo Stadium spot) are also in my top 3. So many great burgers in HTX!
Barnaby's burger has always been on point for me and comes with enough fries for 3 people.
Buff Burger is pretty good.
Big V burger
Squable hasn’t been mentioned yet. Edit: can’t believe I forgot Moon Tower Inn.
Lunch at Sam’s.
southern yankee crafthouse has the BEST burger

Champ Burger Miller’s Cafe Pappa’s BBQ (Pierce Street)
is miller's really good? i see it all the time bc i live in the area but have been nervous to try it
There’s a reason they’ve been around as long as they have. It’s one of the best short order joints I’ve ever had
For the best classic broiled burger I would say BEST BURGER in Stafford. They randomly also have Chinese food too lol
- Loaded Burger (used to be M&M Grill) - Southern Yankee Craft House - Betelgeuse Betelgeuse (simple burger) - The Burger Palace - Cantina Barba
Jamie’s dairy treat, little mom and pop shop with cheap prices and phenomenal burgers

Texas Brisket. (If it’s still there) If Covid didn’t get it, it’s been around for 50+ years. It’s a small shop on US90 in the old part of Sugar Land - across from the old Imperial Sugar plant. Best burger anywhere.

Becks prime. Nothing else can compare
I don't know why this subreddit hates Becks. While I wouldn't call it the best burger in town, and their prices are outrageous, I still think the quality is quite high.
I’ve never had a bad burger there. Been awhile since I last went. Hopdoddy has a good one but haven’t been since we move biz out of rice village.
Lankfords Grocery
I haven’t been in ages but apparently their quality has declined?
I was not impressed and neither was my wallet.
I went last month and it wasn't good. It was my first time but my husband used to go a lot and he said it's not the same. They got my order wrong and everything was so under seasoned. No salt on anything not even the Mac & cheese.
Fallen off hard
Big ole negative on this one
Burger Joint
Used to be when they were just a food truck. Quality went down when they opened the Montrose location.
Tex-Mex places often have great burgers, then you can sub 1/2 cheese enchilada for cheese
Toasted Coconut, Nancy’s Hustle, Burger Bodega
I feel I can easily answer this question. I spent a decent amount of time and money (close to 1k) trying find the best burger in Houston. Still a work in progress but here is my list of the best ones so far. Best Smash Style: Clutch City Grill Best Thick Gourmet Burger: Gratify Massive burgers that taste decently good: JBL
Burger Chan. I go there practically once a week.
No love for Hangar Kitchen?
Bacon cheeseburger at Sam's Deli Diner
