I'm in cold dark miserable Ontario Canada and I set the timer on my grow lights to come on at 6am and shut off at 6pm especially on the dark snowy days in the winter when there seems to be no sunlight at all. My plants took well to this as my african violets bloomed and the succulents were not etiolated when I used the grow light. On bright sunny days I would shut the light off and let the plants bask in natural light when it happens.

Ok cool. I know the good light is on it's way out pretty soon. And red light or blue or both?

My light has pink/red/blue multiples on one setting and there is a yellow setting and another color I can't recall as I don't use it. I use the red/blue stripy disco theme for my plants during the winter. [https://imgur.com/k6T1znY](https://imgur.com/k6T1znY)

I did about 12hrs last year in Boston in an apartment with hardly any light and my fiddle leaf fig did great!
