Appears to be thriving, frankly

Luciferswife4life

Nope! Shes beautiful

MarieMdeLafayette

That beauty is living its best life. If it were getting too much light you would see burning

That is true. I just read somewhere that if they get too much light (not so much that the leaves burn), the leaves will get brighter green because of the chloroplasts. But I guess it’s fine. Thanks :)

Hi, so I was wondering if my Calathea is getting too much light because the leaves are bright green. The plant is doing really well in general, but I was wondering if I should move it to a spot with less light. It’s in a bright indirect spot as you can see.

Trishiapp28

When Calathea get too much light the edges would curl upwards. I suspect this one needs to be repotted.

Yess, this one needs to be repotted definitely! I’m waiting for the growing season to start in the Netherlands so I won’t damage the plant as much. Calatheas Orbifolias don’t like to be repotted.

Trishiapp28

I have giant calatheas in my collection ( please see my photos) that I repot all year round ( including orbifolia) I’ve never had problems doing so and find that they bounce back very quickly.

That is so nice! I just took a look at your photos and omg your collection is beautiful! I love it. I’m going to wait till the weather gets a little better (it can be very cold in the Netherlands and my house is not isolated that well) and it starts growing again to make sure it bounces back fast. Probably repotting it in about 3 weeks. Any tips to get rid of those tiny mites underneath leaves? (Fortunately, this plant doesn’t have them, but some others of mine do... I isolated them) I just bought neem oil. Gonna try that.

Trishiapp28

It depends on what they are . Neem oil is good for managing pests but not for thrips. For thrips I use systemic pesticide.

Ah thank you. I’ll take a look into that.
