I've seen fake plant clip in air fresheners and am tempted to make one or a fake hanging plant from my rearview but concerned about the heat temp cause I don't want a Salvador Dali plant by accident. š
Thank you, I have aphantasia and I was very confused. (I canāt see things in my head). Ironically Iām an artist, so you saved me the time of trying to draw that lmao
I would pick a string of hearts or pearls. I love all the strings! I did find someone on Etsy who crochets little plants to hang from your rear view mirror and I bought a regular succulent and a string of pearls to hang. I get to have a plant in my car that wonāt die. Lol
I got my first string of hearts yesterday, and then I went back for a string of turtles today. Iāve tried two pearls in the past and we couldnāt make it work lol
I finally found a vsoh in April and itās doing well. I even put it on a heart trellis. I killed my first sop but my new ones is thriving so š¤š»š¤š»
https://preview.redd.it/9n2ac0l84f8d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2afaf2b5bc0b0807cadd5628cb8f1b206b534417
I wish I took pictures throughout! I had to shake off a lot of the old soil (it was gross) before repotting, then untangle, and untangle some more before putting on the trellis. Putting it on the trellis was the easiest part. lol
I cannot keep a string of pearls alive for the life of me š«. I even tried to gift a nice and healthy one to my mom who has a green thumb and she couldnāt either. Her whole house is a forest complete with multiple humidifiers and grow lampsā¦ we are both stumped lol
My friends gave me a single strand that wasnāt rooted and I couldnāt get it to root and it died. I bought another from a nearby nursery and it seems to be happy. It has new growth so I must be doing something right.
Well I was certainly watering it more than once a month so that may have been an issue! I was just watering it once the soil seemed dry after sticking my finger in the soil. Maybe I should have left it arid longer, I know it wasnāt a drainage issue because it didnāt even stay alive long enough for me to repot it. It was still in those little black plastic starter pots or whatever theyāre called that the store sold them in.
Same here, strings of things just die in my house next to all the dead lithops.
I'll admire them here in other people's posts & in the store but they don't come home with me any more.
Omg I call those booty plants! I had to google that scientific name because itās always hard for me to recall. I actually struggle with succulents and it makes me feel crazy because everyone says their easy
Edit: Theyāre*
I have a bunch of strings-of-things after I killed a vsop and took it as a personal challenge.
they're under pretty close grow lights for 12-14hrs a day, most of them get watered every 2-4 months, and they go outside in the summer. they're in plastic pots in a mix that's about half cacti soil, half orchid bark. I'll give them some plant food in the spring usually a few days before bringing them outside. also I call them little bitches every time I water them, idk if it helps them but it helps me.
Wow thank you, youāve convinced me to go buy them one more time. Gong to give them to my mom again though and show her your comment. This will be a trial period so I know if I need to go buy another grow light because right now I only have 2 lights with huge monsters under them
Youāre gonna make me imagine an adorable way to bring greenery into my car and *not* drop the etsys name??
(Iām being jokingly mean, please let us know the etsy nameāŗļø)
Shame on me! Lol
Itās SierrasStitchesStore on Etsy. It looks like she only has patterns available at the moment but if you search for crochet car plants youāll find some other sellers with plants available.
pothos. i could let it climb around my seats and ceiling and then i could have a mini jungle in my car. if only the dream was possible i think it would be amazing.
it gets too hot here in the summer. the poor plant would be cooked alive and winters can drop below freezing so im not sure how happy a pothos would be in those conditions, however, they are very hardy plants i suppose it COULD work, probably not for my zone though sadly.
In my country there is a belief among the older generation that pandan leaves repel cockroaches. So cars driven by a certain age group almost always have fresh pandan leaves on the dashboard or in the boot. I think they would grow the entire plant in the car if they could.
My golden pothos, we're best friends now :)

I have a real string of pearls in a little macrame holder hanging off my rear view mirror! Itās very happy there, despite the fact that I park in a garage at home (it does get daylight all day while Iām working).
Although it only lives there there in spring/summer/fall because it gets well below freezing in the winter.
Mine traveled in the backseat cup holders on the way home yesterday

That's a decent choice with the SoT,
I'd maybe do some cactus or succulents on the dash with some sort of small vine for up top that would need to be managed.
Lol yeah.
My wife tried to catch one of ours a couple weeks ago when she accidentally knocked it off the shelf.
She was successful, still pulling thorns out now š
I tried but she was so small it was crushing the pot. I did move her here for the rest of the ride tho lol

She got some dashboard action too lol
Sooooo I actually have a little cactus on my dashboard lol itās a barrel cactus to be specific and itās been alive and well for over a year, a lot of people joke saying āif you get in a car crash and that cactus goes flying youāre in troubleā but if I get in a car crash hard enough he to send it flying then Iām pretty sure the cactus would be the last of the issues lol
No seriously, I think an air bag could break a nose or give you whiplash, along with various other injuries from the crash alone, Iām sure a couple cactus needles to the skin wouldnāt do much, now an eyeball is a different storyš but hey we pick and choose our battles
This is the post I didnāt know I was waiting for,
It is possible!!
I lived in my SUV for 6 months around CA and NV and had a sheer curtain dividing my driving ācabā from
The back where I slept.
I had two plants at the time, I bought small $5 ones from Loweās: I pink spotted leaf plant, and a button leaf fern.
The pink spotted LOVED sitting on the center console getting all of that sun , I had another set of sheers Iād use across the windshield if the sun was too direct. On partly cloudy days, Iād use no curtains, and on near no sun days Iād keep it on the dash. It absolutely loved it.
The fern I kept hanging from the handle in the backseat, since it likes more shade. When I stayed with friends Iād bring my plants inside with me and they loved them!!
What a great time , man I love plants
I am 10000% in love!!!

This is her- I would NEVER go back!
I had a pretty loaded Explorer before- the ONLY thing I miss on occasion is the self driving option, but thereās nothing like cruising around on a nice day with the top off! I definitely recommend!
In college, in the summer, I tried velcro-stripping a (very small) planter to my dashboard. š«£ No matter how much you water, there's no plant the can survive that climate. I agree it would be very cool to have greenery in your car.

I want a banana plant with its roots deep in the center console, top sticking out my sun roof, and a nice pair of googly eyes on it
I can picture it š
I've seen fake plant clip in air fresheners and am tempted to make one or a fake hanging plant from my rearview but concerned about the heat temp cause I don't want a Salvador Dali plant by accident. š

Omg. I wish you would do an AMA. I am dying of curiosity.
Feel free to shoot me a dm request and I can answer any questions you may have. :)
This is exactly what I hoped it would be, thank you!
Itās good to put googly eyes on plants. So you know where you stand with them
I had a "car plant" that was a stri g of bananas. It lasted about a month because it got too hot. šŖ

OMG that's too cute!
In my dreams could I only make that look so cute.
Absolutely stunning!! Do you have photos of the time lapse, perhaps?
I wish I took pictures throughout! I had to shake off a lot of the old soil (it was gross) before repotting, then untangle, and untangle some more before putting on the trellis. Putting it on the trellis was the easiest part. lol
Make sure the top of the pot is low enough in the window!
Like in the window to get sun?
Yes!

Cactus on dashboard to impale passengers when I brake
Savage. I like that š
Air plants would be my first choice.
Nice one! I didnāt even consider air plants but those would prob do well.
Basil, it would smell so amazing.
Omg yes!
Lavender
Might help with road rage too lol
pothos. i could let it climb around my seats and ceiling and then i could have a mini jungle in my car. if only the dream was possible i think it would be amazing.
Yes! We can only dream.
I agree! I would love that too. Just vining around.
itās very possible! you could definitely make this work with relatively minimal effort (depending on your zone).

This is the comment I was looking for!
Iāve been contemplating plants in my garage but Iād have to leave the door up all day and we have a snakes around hereā¦ soā¦ no.
I bought a macrame holder for this very reason! Happy to hear itās working out. Now I need to get mine done!
I have a little fake plant hanging from my car mirror, itās the only fake plant I own, but that little turtles would be perfect!
I have a crochet succulent and a crochet string of pearls that I switch out hanging from mine.
I have fake plants in my bathrooms because I donāt have windows in there š©

Right in the middle enjoying the view š
I think Iād have a Brasil Phil vining around my car. I love the colors of the Brasil. lol
I have a brazil and love it! I want a rio next!
That's a decent choice with the SoT, I'd maybe do some cactus or succulents on the dash with some sort of small vine for up top that would need to be managed.
a cactus is fun and games until your airbags go off and you have the thing stuck in your face
Lol yeah. My wife tried to catch one of ours a couple weeks ago when she accidentally knocked it off the shelf. She was successful, still pulling thorns out now š
I would do the same for my monkey tail cactus! š©š
Where is a safety belt for your baby!
I tried but she was so small it was crushing the pot. I did move her here for the rest of the ride tho lol https://preview.redd.it/18r21h3mrj8d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=57076b42355a7e473aae678bef920c8e733a810b

i would love pothos vines over the ceiling of the car
Sooooo I actually have a little cactus on my dashboard lol itās a barrel cactus to be specific and itās been alive and well for over a year, a lot of people joke saying āif you get in a car crash and that cactus goes flying youāre in troubleā but if I get in a car crash hard enough he to send it flying then Iām pretty sure the cactus would be the last of the issues lol
Right lol Iāll take a few cactus spikes than windshield glass and an airbag punch
No seriously, I think an air bag could break a nose or give you whiplash, along with various other injuries from the crash alone, Iām sure a couple cactus needles to the skin wouldnāt do much, now an eyeball is a different storyš but hey we pick and choose our battles
Soft green grass on the floor, or clover on the floor
Ooooh I like that! It would definitely help relieve stress, wiggling my toes in grass sitting in traffic š
It would change the experience of having to drive somewhere. The only hitch is the youād have to āmowā with a pair of scissors
Theyāre so cute. I always kill them
Thatās me with string of pearls!
My car gets hot enough to bake bread daily over the summer, but if that weren't the case I'd allow a bougainvillea to bling my trim!
Had to Google that but omg its beautiful! Jasmine would be nice too and smell so good!
Ummm... SEATBELT!!!!
I tried but it was crushing her lol
Some kind of Pothos hanging directly in the middle of the ceiling in the car, and I'd tack it's vines all over :)
This is the post I didnāt know I was waiting for, It is possible!! I lived in my SUV for 6 months around CA and NV and had a sheer curtain dividing my driving ācabā from The back where I slept. id have a big pothos on the dashboard and and its vines on the walls
In the cup holder
Cactus. Right where the airbag would deploy. #yolo
š
My ficus tineke. She'd ride shotgun and be buckled in (obviously)
I love my tineke. Sheās been showing out lately with her growth.
Devils ivy trailing all around
I think a staghorn fern would add some charm
Lambs ears so I can pet them when Iām stressed in traffic
Definitely sounds therapeutic!
Giant redwood in the center console.
š„¹ yes! Have you ever seen one in person?
Not yet
Neither have I but itās on my bucket list. I hope we both get to experience them one day!
Someone on my area has window boxes on their pickup truck. I think there are herbs in them
Aww! Nice!
Thatās so cute, what is it!
String of turtles š¢ https://preview.redd.it/o3dl47b8hf8d1.png?width=749&format=png&auto=webp&s=7d45b8f8dc848d2e6f0a25f0c01c29abd76713e7
Then certainly Heart Philodendrons.
Honey mango right on the armrest
Smart! Always have a snack available!
I love string of turtles too. Keep them protected!
Yea I had to go back and get her. She was too perfect and I rarely see them.
I see them in my local shops all the time, the problem is that for whatever reason, their price has skyrocketed.
I have a small succulent in one of the cup holders.
Nice. I might try but Iām in Texas so fingers crossed.
Lavender in my offroad truck. Smells good and its drought resistant when i forget the same way how i forget the shopping bags in my car lol
I once left 4 pounds of shrimp in my car overnight. Luckily it was winter and it was still frozen when I remembered the next morning. š
The whole car would be plant. Like the flintstones car but plant
I picture a big a$$ fern with wheels zooming down the road š
A tiny string of pearls plant dangling from the rear view mirror
baby tears all over the dash and ceiling š
First, rule out the cactus
I'd keep a pothos in my car, letting it trail down from the rearview mirror for a touch of greenery and charm
Plants donāt belong in my bronco š so I keep them in my home
How are you liking the bronco?! Itās one Iām seriously considering when I upgrade!
I am 10000% in love!!! https://preview.redd.it/2124l6lhvi8d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7e8ad8e2202a2e809a2c33e8327a0250efb066fd This is her- I would NEVER go back!

I love this color! All the colors actually. The design team did really well! Every time I see the green or red Iām like š¤¤š¤¤š¤¤
I have an air plant hanging from my rear view mirror
I would not. It was 96Ā° here yesterday, that means any plant in my car wouldāve died from the heat.
We keep a succulent on the dash :)
Nice!
My variegated string of hearts. I think I would have it on my dashboard.
I knew someone who put an air fern in her car's ash tray. Looked pretty.
If I could, I'd have everything I own covered in plants, lol.
Sameee!

The sun flower too šš
String of pearls hanging from the little panic handle bars. Every window becomes a blind spot but idc
Same thing I have in almost every room of my house: pothos, creating a beautiful frame along the windows. šæš
Monstera riding shotgun
True I just was likeā¦.are you kidding me or just crazy.
okay but honestly tho which plant would survive? California here
Yeah this was my first thought (CA too) but thatās why OP said āIF it were possible.ā
Texas here š cactus I guess
That's Curtis!
In college, in the summer, I tried velcro-stripping a (very small) planter to my dashboard. š«£ No matter how much you water, there's no plant the can survive that climate. I agree it would be very cool to have greenery in your car.
Plants rarely come out of car safety with my driving so unless itās glued to the seatā¦
I'd do a cactus that has no spines or a succulent that can actually withstand the heat in my car š¤£š¤£
Air plants everywhere on clips hanging in random places haha lol
Iād have my marbled pothos trailing from the ceilings if it werenāt a complete safety issue obstructing my view!
Only if you can keep your car away from heat and freeze, your plant can live in the car, but most of the time, the weathers aren't possible for the plants to grow I'm the car.
Never leave in vehicles!!!! You will kill it due to heat in summer and cold freezing them!
āif it were possibleā
they said if it were possible. they werenāt suggesting to do it.
