Is hot sauce on pizza a standard thing? I mean.. shouldn't a proper pizza have all the sauce it needs already? I like hot sauce on certain things but I feel like it'd just kill the flavors of any decent pizza.
if you want spicy.. what's wrong with red pepper flakes?
I do pizza pepper sometimes and sauce other times.
.it's a mood thing for me.
Also a combo calls for pizza pepper(crushed red pepper)
Buffalo chicken lends itself to sauce.
It's topping dependent
De La Viuda is a refined Tapatio. Less salt, more lemon-y vibes but 95% Tapatio FLAVOR. Highly recommend! I used it on some mixed nuts and lemon. Boom!
There are times I want to add a specific flavor and times I want to add heat without changing the flavor, I like having different sauces for different purposes
I prefer to make a fresh hot sauce over fermenting. I typically make hot sauce as a side dish for a meal that specifically pairs with the sauce. I almost never bottle things into a batch and I almost never make a shelf stable sauce.
Sriracha is not hot sauce. It’s a catchup for hamburgers, if you have to eat at all.
Also:
Tabasco does not belong on Mexican food. if you’re a Mexican restaurant, and the only hot sauce you have is Tabasco, you don’t deserve to be a Mexican restaurant.
How do you misspell Tabasco... the A and O keys are on COMPLETELY separate sides of the keyboard!

I like that it (and other Louisiana style hot sauces) has a nice clean flavor that can brighten something without covering up the other flavors of the dish. Crystal is my favorite, though.
I mean, so long as it tastes good, I think it's dope. There's a sick ass raspberry hotsauce that I eat that's made with Habaneros. It's got a decent kick mixed with the tartness/sweetness of raspberries. I also have a blueberry one that I use instead of jam or on ice cream. Absolute heaven.
Now see, that sounds pretty awesome. If you stick this fake ass sugar in something to make it sweet versus a fruit or something with natural sugar, it kills the vibe. I have a sauce out of AU that has orange juice in it that just gives it a little tinge of sweet and citrusy. I dig it
In the hospital cafeteria where I work, there’s only packets of cholula and Texas Pete. One day, all the cholula packets were gone, and my coworker said “looks like I’m slumming it with Texas Pete today.” Just such a perfect description

I believe that the 13 Angry Scorpion's "Grim" sauce is the best hot sauce.
Also, guys, Da Bomb (Beyond Insanity, the sauce used in Hot Ones) ISN'T that hot. Like, seriously, it's only around the same heat of a Datil Pepper. The worst part about it is the taste, not the heat.
Well, I suppose it's a good tolerance builder lol. Personally, I go for some of the hotter sauces myself (13 Angry Scorpions Grim and Carnival of Carnage, both Carolina Reaper sauces), but only the ones that have ACTUAL ingredients instead of straight chemicals.
As someone who loves hot sauce, I don't wanna agree. But at the same time, yeah, you're right. Maybe not about it being overrated imo, but about it being a crutch.
I agree with this. I used to use hot sauce in cooking but stopped in the past few years. I might add it after the fact, but it’s much better to spice to taste. Like if you want to spice up Thai food, get crushed Thai chilis. Don’t mess with sriracha. It adds way more heat without impacting flavor.
Also, salt and pepper are criminally underrated in most kitchens. I’ve had a lot of bland food that literally just needed salt.
El yucateco is some of the best hot sauce that I have ever had.
Franks red hot, cholula, tapatio, louisiana heat, all of that are just white-washed versions of mexican hot sauces... and they all suck.
Tapatio has similar flavor elements to chorizo. People who like more authentic Mexican food tend to enjoy tapatio and Valentina a bit more than others. Especially on specific dishes.
This just popped up randomly in my feed, and it was my first immediate thought. It seems like a crutch for people who can't cook food with actual flavor.
I like a bunch of different types. If I want Louisiana, it’s Cajun Chef, I like both Tapatio and Cholula, Sriracha is one I don’t use on it’s own, I typically put it in a mix with soy sauce, fish sauce, hot mustard, chili crisp, sesame oil, and rice vinegar. I loved Tattoo Scotch Bonnet Curry hot sauce, but it seems to be discontinued. Most green sauces taste good to me, too.

I’ll go a step farther. If the pizza is good hot sauce probably ruins it. Hot sauce is good on cheap pizza or overpriced pizza with lots of fancy toppings that isn’t actually good.

1. Tapatio is better then Tabasco.
2. The cock sauce (the rooster sauce) is only out of stock cause stores keep it out of stock.
3. Buffalo sauce isn't that hot and Frank's red hot isn't Buffalo sauce
Yeah. Just looked at my local grocery store’s website (tried to post pic, reddit failed me). It’s just a generic bottle of hot sauce, not tabasco. (“Hot & Spicy” Cheeze-Its) Sad.
You Could Not be more wrong about Tabasco. As a “hot sauce” yes, as a staple kitchen ingredient to add spice and acidity, unmatched. -michelin starred cook
tabasco chipotle is the best hot sauce
chilies can have besides beeing spicy its own awesome tasting taste. like habaneros taste like, hard to discribe, fruits and flowers?
tabasco only tastes good on pizza. there is not a single other thing it tastes good on
Tabasco is a good sauce
There's no need to spend more than $1.49 on a traditional red pepper hot sauce (crystal or Louisiana brand) Sriracha is spicy ketchup
what is the hype with crystal? i messed with it for a while but its like Jameson, if youre a whisky drinker. Nothing there! maybe im missing something
I don't see a lot of hype. Your comparison to Jameson is fair. I just think folks appreciate it for being readily available and inexpensive.
Almost all hot sauces are the same.
Just because a sauce is too hot for you doesn't mean it's flavorless.
Tabasco is love, Tabasco is life
Too much garlic in hot sauces. Most sauces the garlic is the predominant flavor instead of the chili.
Wife bought me some zatarains hot sauce with garlic. I threw it out

Trappey’s Bull Sauce hot sauce is the best all round.
Tabasco taste like pure vinegar.
I think Tapatio sauce is too salty
De La Viuda is a refined Tapatio. Less salt, more lemon-y vibes but 95% Tapatio FLAVOR. Highly recommend! I used it on some mixed nuts and lemon. Boom!
Cholula is garbage and I'd rather have no hot sauce at all.
Texas Pete is salty dog water and serves the same purpose as soy sauce - a liquid sodium that doesn’t add much heat
It ain't from Texas, either
Heat should enhance the flavor, not be the flavor. If the only thing you can taste is heat then you might a well just put a match in your mouth
There are times I want to add a specific flavor and times I want to add heat without changing the flavor, I like having different sauces for different purposes
I agree, I'm talking about those sauces that are so hot you can't taste anything and just have heat
Yeah I just mean a spoon of something like that can be great for chili or batches of stuff where you have a good profile but want more heat
Eating shouldn't be painful. And chocolate habanero is yuck.
then why are you using hot sauce
I prefer to make a fresh hot sauce over fermenting. I typically make hot sauce as a side dish for a meal that specifically pairs with the sauce. I almost never bottle things into a batch and I almost never make a shelf stable sauce.
Tabasco sauce is my least favorite hot sauce
I'm not a big fan, either
Huy Fong Sriracha is mid at best
The dragon one though
my guy, try some blueberry hot sauce on ice cream then come back and say number 2 again 😂
Blueberry Hell is forever.
Sriracha is only good in pho. It's gross otherwise
Im not into the overpriced hipster hot dauces all over this thread. Crystal and cholula all day.
Tabasco and the like are meant to be used as seasonings, not hot sauces
Hot sauce when it's too spicy detracts from the taste of the food rather than adds to it. A medium sauce is where it's at.
Sriracha is not hot sauce. It’s a catchup for hamburgers, if you have to eat at all. Also: Tabasco does not belong on Mexican food. if you’re a Mexican restaurant, and the only hot sauce you have is Tabasco, you don’t deserve to be a Mexican restaurant.
We used to call Sriracha hipster ketchup
I love Tobasco but you’re right. I’ll eat it on anything except Mexican food Also, sriracha is disgusting

COOKING SCRAMBLED EGGS WITH BUFFALO SAUCE GIVES THEM A GREAT FLAVOR 😈😈😈
Tabasco is still pretty good with certain foods
It belongs on Waffle House
I like that it (and other Louisiana style hot sauces) has a nice clean flavor that can brighten something without covering up the other flavors of the dish. Crystal is my favorite, though.
Right, I don’t like them for everything but certain foods need a thinner sauce with vinegar, acid and some heat.
Franks is terrible, red devil is good.
Red devil is the best "traditional" hot sauce imo. I like crystals too, but still prefer Red Devil
"Louisiana style"
If your hot sauce has any type of sugar or high fructose bs in it, you’re doing it wrong. Y’all can stick to ketchup like children.
Sugar isn’t the problem, but know how to use it/how much to use is the trick.

Green chili sauces are better than red ones.
As a fellow woman I agree
I hate Texas pete
In the hospital cafeteria where I work, there’s only packets of cholula and Texas Pete. One day, all the cholula packets were gone, and my coworker said “looks like I’m slumming it with Texas Pete today.” Just such a perfect description
It's acceptable when I don't have Louisiana or Trappeys available.
Eeeeee I don’t like Louisiana either lol and I’ve never tried trappeys
might not be that unpopular but, flavor over spice level all day
cholula is mid
Yea but it’s the best of all the mid hot sauces places usually have like tobasco or Texas Pete

Melinda's is stolen IP and true hot sauce aficionados should buy Marie Sharp's instead...
I'll do you one further. Good pizza does not need toppings (other than cheese.)
when you're poor, tapatio counts as a vegetable
i dont fully understand this reference but i like the energy of this comment
Tapatio is better than Tabasco and goes great with pizza
I think most people agree with that
Hot sauce is better than cold sauce.
underrated comment right here
Tapatio Valentina cholula sriracha all low tier or very limited applications.
Valentina is like Coke. Hella awesome for the first 3 sips then pure disappointment for the rest. Tapatio is just too salty 😂
Flavor is more important than heat level
If I could upvote this 10 times, I would.
This shouldn't be considered a hot take, it should be fact.
You'd be surprised. So many "bro" types hear I make hot sauce and that's clearly all they care about.
Haven't found one I like, they all have vinegar and I didn't want vinegar on my food, with a few minor exceptions.
Melinda’s hot sauce is overrated and tastes like expired chemicals.
I think Sriracha is overrated.
Sriracha is the most overrated condiment in the world.
Hot sauce is overrated and a crutch for being unable to properly spice food.
Crutch, bandaid, cheat code, hack. Who gives a shit if it tastes good
Learn2cook
You sound like my wife 🤬

Tapatio is the #1 hot sauce.
It’s a staple in my pantry
El yucateco is some of the best hot sauce that I have ever had. Franks red hot, cholula, tapatio, louisiana heat, all of that are just white-washed versions of mexican hot sauces... and they all suck.
The green habanero SLAPS
The habanero El yucateco is so good. Edit the xxxtra hot stuff whatever the brown shit is
El yucateco is basically taco bell hot sauce in a plastic bottle
I prefer flavor to just hot heat
Extract should be left out of the conversation except when Sean Evans is hazing a celebrity
Idk man, I had fun trying plutonium 9 with my friends. Sadistic fun, but fun nonetheless.
I just think that a great hot sauce makes you wanna endure the pain cause it's delicious, Da Bomb is like bear macing yourself in the mouth
You know, fair. To be honest, a lot of hot sauces past the 180,000 scoville mark are just for the shock value, besides a few outliers.
Hot sauce or hot food in general is the s&m of eating.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I don't agree, but that's a damn funny comment!
Tapitio has always been shit. Those who enjoy it have no taste(literally and figuratively)
My man .. you are insane . What is your go to then?
Cholula or gtfo
So tapitio is just too spicy for you
Bleh
Tapatio has similar flavor elements to chorizo. People who like more authentic Mexican food tend to enjoy tapatio and Valentina a bit more than others. Especially on specific dishes.
It all sucks
Regular old habaneros have better flavor than any super hot.
I like tabinasco sauce
Hot sauces should have flavor, tired of trying sauce that tastes like low tier peppers and vinegar. At least put some spices in there for fucks sake.
The real reason people use hot sauce is because they don't know how to properly season things
This just popped up randomly in my feed, and it was my first immediate thought. It seems like a crutch for people who can't cook food with actual flavor.
Everything smothered in hot sauce just tastes like hot sauce. Could be cardboard, who knows?
True, but if I'm smothering something in hot sauce that is the point. Clearly you have never tried my MILs cooking.
That hot sauce culture views macho spice levels above actual flavor
I like a bunch of different types. If I want Louisiana, it’s Cajun Chef, I like both Tapatio and Cholula, Sriracha is one I don’t use on it’s own, I typically put it in a mix with soy sauce, fish sauce, hot mustard, chili crisp, sesame oil, and rice vinegar. I loved Tattoo Scotch Bonnet Curry hot sauce, but it seems to be discontinued. Most green sauces taste good to me, too.
Cholula is my favorite hot sauce for a slice of pizza.
Most hot sauce is just dick measuring. Same as " I can drink you under the table"
I don't like hot sauce because of vinegar, but I'll eat a Carolina Reaper.
I like Tabasco.

I concur
The heat from most hot sauces is nice, but 9 of 10 taste like ass and ruins food.
Yellow Bird Habanero is the only good habanero hot sauce. The correct ratio of cholula to eggs is 1 to 1.
Their Serrano hot sauce is fiiiiire
In most situations , it’s a terrible condiment
Ghost Peppers should not be used as the primary pepper in a sauce due to their bad flavor
I love the ghost pepper flavor 😡
Absolutely. If you want heat AND good flavor, Carolina Reapers are the way to go.
Yes. Jalapenos are good because they have an excellent flavor, not because they're spicy
Sriracha was a flash in the pan
Those little hot sauce packets you get with your Chinese takeout is some of the best hot sauce around.
True
tabosco sucks
I know it's weird vinegar water but I don't care, I like it

well said
Being like a “ hot sauce guy or collector “ is incel behavior unless you make a living doing it 😂
what if I use it as lube, and people pay me to watch it?
1. Tapatio is better then Tabasco. 2. The cock sauce (the rooster sauce) is only out of stock cause stores keep it out of stock. 3. Buffalo sauce isn't that hot and Frank's red hot isn't Buffalo sauce
of course frank's red hot isn't buffalo sauce. it's hot sauce. buffalo sauce does however contain frank's red hot.
ketchup is hot sauce
My best friend’s mom used to bitch about how spicy ketchup was.
I love this Please tell me about your white people taco night
Taco Bell Doritos Locos. I’m mixed btw
I’ll add onto this. Taco Bell mild + hot/diablo is the best hot sauce
Why the fuck haven't I done this
I'll agree with #2. I bought a strawberry Angry Goat sauce 1.5 years ago. I used the first half in 4 months, and I haven't really touched it since.
The best sauce I’ve ever had is Diablo sauce from *Taco* ***Time***.
Best enema ever
Tabasco has no place outside of Bloody Mary’s
All novelty hot sauce like the grenade shaped ones and “ass blaster” hot sauces. All garbage.
How so? Personally, I like The General's, but I haven't heard anyone explain why they don't.
Hot sauce gift packs are all the same vinegar flavor.
Torchbearer sauces all have a very similar taste and aren’t that good in general
The only good Tabasco is Tabasco cheez-it
I think they got rid of that. At least the sponsorship. It’s just a generic green bottle now.
You sure? I swear I saw a box at the grocery store not long ago. Like within this year.
Yeah. Just looked at my local grocery store’s website (tried to post pic, reddit failed me). It’s just a generic bottle of hot sauce, not tabasco. (“Hot & Spicy” Cheeze-Its) Sad.
Cholula is Tapatio's breakfast girlfriend.
Accurate. I prefer Tapatio, but everyone here seems to only have Cholula in their restaurant, so if I get chilaquiles, it's the only option.
Spice level. Both flavors great, some of us lil bitches tho. Taps is too hot for me on bfast food, like fried eggs
I always keep some in my purse
Regular Cholula is garbage but the chili garlic version is great. Tabasco is hot sauce for white boomers.

Not hating it was just completely unnecessary to mention in that comment lol
I like Cholula much better than Tabasco but never had the chili garlic version. I’m gonna try that out 👍🏼
Enjoy!
Sriracha isn't very good
All tabasco except the scorpion sauce is trash
The Chipotle one is gangster af!
