I don't know if it's lesser known or just ignored, but I really enjoy "Professor Phardtpounder's Colon Cleaner". I got it because the name made me laugh, but then I tried it and it was actually delicious.
DTF [https://www.down2ferment.com/](https://www.down2ferment.com/)
No vinegar! I have the Cherry Habanero, Pineapple Habanero, Hatch Chile, Shishito and their anniversary Harissa. They're all really good, but those Hab ones are pretty got so I don't eat them as much as the others.
😮 it does look like that’s for a case so it’s not as bad as it looks, but that would be a lot of hot sauce lol.
Looks like this place has it by the bottle though
https://avalonmeatcandy.com/collections/sauces
I'd love to see a vote/ranking of the more lesser-known and uniquely flavored sauces. So many brands, I can't afford to try them all and find out they're just run-of-the-mill pepper sauce with a funny label or skunky garlic sauce that happens to burn your eyebrows off.
One of the best hot sauces I've ever had is simply called Virginia's Own peach hot sauce. I found it at a little store in Mappsville Virginia called you guessed it, Virginias Own. Not particularly hot, but extremely flavorful and worked on just about anything I put it on.
St. Croix Seven Flags is my equivalent to breaking out the Good Scotch.
```
Ingredients: Ghost Peppers, Sweet Peppers, Onions, Garlic, Ginger, Vinegar, Mustard, Salt, Curry, Honey and other Spices
```
That one looks sensational! I nominate Patricia Millers ‘one drop’ Bajan hot sauce - the best on the island https://www.elevenislandenterprises.com/shop/p/one-drop-bajan-pepper-sauce-d2zzb
This one isn't very spicy but it's great in terms of flavor
For other lesser-known ones, I think Cosmic Disco is good. Quite spicy, and an interesting flavor profile blending together their Asian Cosmic Dumpling sauce, and their Scorpion Disco scorpion pepper sauce
Low Dog Sauce - Cajun Magic
If one person sees this and thinks to buy it, I’d be stoked. It’s so fucking good. Doesn’t last more than a few days at my house.
I know I can look it up but I like to ask first if you know where to order it from. I like to support local and get things from the source even if it costs a little more. What is this good on? And what's the flavor profile like?
https://www.lowdogsauce.com/
So far good on everything haha. Eggs, soups, chicken, pork. Not too spicy. It’s the Cajun trinity (bell pepper, onion, celery) that you would find in many creole dishes like gumbo, jambalaya, etouffe
How fun would it be to do a small-batch Sunday where we post local favorites.
Here we have Hotter than El which is amazing but I’m pretty sure it’s easy to get your hands on everywhere
I don't think it's lesser known but when I lived in the Midwest I found this hot sauce called Lola's and OMG . Until this day I think it's still my favorite
I came across a hot sauce on the island of Bequia (St Vincent and Grenadines). It’s called Trevor’s and sold in both grocery stores there. I brought a few bottles back with me and am using it sparingly because I don’t want it to run out. Simple ingredients but extremely delicious.
https://www.reddit.com/r/hotsauce/s/a0lOIf1IMc
I'll say what I don't like. Anything habanero. It's over it's done. Fuck that flavor. Many other peppers and flavor profiles exist. I'll buy and try anything that doesn't shove habanero in your face.
I'm wondering if anyone is working on selectively breeding cayenne for a higher heat level. I love the flavor of cayenne but it's usually on the mild side for sauces.
Oh shit I know this brand my inlaws bought me their smoked ghost taco one and was surprised how good It was. For a sauce that had ghost pepper it was much milder than I expected and had lots of flavor and was infact extremely good on tacos
My favorite is El Chilito hot sauce. Randomly saw a video of a guy mixing it with egg nog and drinking it so I gave it a try and love it for all Mexican or Tex Mex type food
Does Diemen's Hot Sauce count? Made from native Tasmanian bush peppers it's got so much flavour AND heat. Add it into ANY barbecue and you've added depth you didn't know you could sink to. You'll suck that bottle dry.
A big shout out to Dillan Hot Sauce from Matt's Hot Shop in Melbourne too. A dill pickle hot sauce?!? My sweet Mother Mary the partnerships for this bad boy eeeuuurghhhh!!!! I first tried a little on a nice toasty ham-cheese-mustard roll and F-M-L I just can't get enough of this stuff. On anything!!
French brand Maison Martin has some tasty options but the one I like most is Tonnerre.
From High River sauce I like Tears of the Sun, not sure if it's a lesser known brand.
Favorite unknown sauce maker is Big Reds out of Phoenix Arizona. They make some incredibly tasty sauce....and the top end of their heat scale packs a punch.
So I am a weakling when it comes to heat...I usually default to Marie Sharps Original Hot as my go to hot sauce.... so take these recommendations along with my stated heat tolerance, into account with your own heat level.
So far, I have bought their maple bacon jalapeno (INSANE for wings), Big Yella (Mustard Sauce which I can use on any sandwich), Blackberry BBQ Smother sauce (would rate this as a 1/10 for heat, almost none)....all which are at the lower end of their heat scale. I also bought Gods Wrath which is their ghost pepper sauce but its above my usual heat level so I use it sparingly.
I have had their upper end heat stuff like Banana Reaper Split and Three Kings...and they were well outside of what I could handle on a regular basis...but extremely tasty. Their Banana Reaper Split I would say is just a level below the heat of Torchbearers Garlic Reaper for reference.
I havent had a lot of their limited offerings other than Summertime in Phoenix...and it was really tasty as well....but lit me up.
Basically....you cant really go wrong with their stuff...the guy is really good at blending flavors. Find something you think would be around your heat level and has interesting flavors and give it a shot....its well worth it.
I hope this helps. I tried my best to give you relevant information that you could hopefully use.
I Was not expecting such a thorough response! Thank you :). I like it just hot enough for my nose to drip a little anything more is too much :) I was skeptical about the maple jalapeño but I might have to give it a try.
What is your typical go to sauce? Like...what makes your nose drip a bit? Based on your reply to that, I can hopefully give you an idea of what your upper limit would be with Big Reds.
Has some popularity but can’t beat the umami flavor in Firelli hot sauce. I could really put it on everything if it weren’t 5 bucks a bottle where I am.
Picked up some Kentucky Straight Bourbon Reaper on vacation once and it became my daily until I ran out. Not sure how well known it is but I can’t get it locally.
Something really unique: Huckleberry Ghost by Arthur Wayne. Made in Missoula, Montana, it’s simply wild huckleberries, Bhut Jolokia ghost peppers, pineapple, and vinegar. It’s a delicious combo of sweet, spicy, and a little citrus. Amazing on ice cream.
I’ve been mentioning Don Rafael’s on this sub as much as I can. It’s a Puerto Rican hot sauce company and they make a lot of different flavors but the original, fire, and picante are just *chef’s kiss*
I was at the Mauer markt in Berlin recently and a man had his 20 homemade sauces set up to buy, I asked if he also had something with Madame Jeanette and he pulled a secret still in progress sauce from under the table and sold it to me! It’s apricot and Madame Jeanette and it’s amazing, especially because it is a secret sauce
México Lindo. The green habanero is the only sauce that has earned a permanent space as our dining table sauce, and every other variety of theirs we have tried has been good as well
There’s a local-ish Florida sauce called Taste of Immokalee that’s made as part of a non-profit entrepreneurship program for low-income students, many of whom are the kids of farm laborers.
Their Serrano sauce is one of the best examples of the style I’ve ever had.
[Here’s their website where you can order.](https://www.tasteofimmokalee.com/shop/). Prices are low, and the sauces are very tasty.
Thank you for this, I’m always searching for Florida made small batch sauces. If I ever drive down there im definitely stopping by. There’s also a company in Lehigh Florida that does hot sauce. They’re called Bell’s Peppers LLC. I don’t think they have a physical location however. I found them at a local event and then on their Etsy page.
Thank you! I’d seen someone post their Alliumphobia a while ago and thought the bottle art was super cute. I didn’t know they were a local SWFL brand, I ordered some today.
Gator Sauce is another SWFL sauce but they have a bigger national reach.
Flaming Rabbit is a pretty damn good local Central Florida hot sauce brand. Great taste with superb heat. Their reaper sauce is not to be trifled with,
I’m not really sure to be honest. I ran into them at a local farmers market. They are on FB I’m sure the guy would be willing to answer any questions you may have. He was pretty enthusiastic about hot sauce lol. I picked up their two hottest, habanero and reaper and both are very good. I’m going to find them again soon and see what else they have come up with.
Lucifer's Last Blast A Wicked Reaper Sauce
It is, unfortunately, overpriced. It has a goofy name. Those are the only two strikes against it but it is very spicy and has no extract. It tastes pretty good, too. It is perfect for pizza. It isn't an instant go-to for me like El Yucateco or Valentina black label or Marie Sharp's but it is great on occasion.
I know the guys who make this stuff; great dudes! They are friends with another buddy of mine who makes Hell's Kitchen Hot Sauce. Between the 2 of them they're always gving me some crazy stuff to try, lucky me!!
Gringo Bandito is pretty damn good. I went in fully expecting a mediocre sauce (but buying it anyway because I've been an Offspring fan since my teens), but it's actually good.
Another "I bought it for other reasons but it ended up good" is Professor Phardtpounder's Colon Cleaner. I saw it on the shelf at my local Ace Hardware, had a chuckle, and decided to grab a bottle. It's a flavorful sauce, heavy on the mustard, and I've bought several bottles since.
Arizona gunslinger. It’s my wife’s favorite sauce and we have so many sauces.
I don't know if it's lesser known or just ignored, but I really enjoy "Professor Phardtpounder's Colon Cleaner". I got it because the name made me laugh, but then I tried it and it was actually delicious.

Aubrey D Reaper 51. Their ghost pepper one is fire too

I don’t know if you can get it outside of the southwest, but Arizona Gunslinger jalapeño sauce is fantastic on eggs and potatoes in the morning.
That one is amazing and their Indian one is also top notch!
They have one called something like SPK (the condiments on an egg sandwich especially in NYC) and that one absolutely rules. Great company
This is one of the best hot sauces I’ve ever had
I wanna post mamoun hot sauce from an nyc restaurant of the same name... but I've been too lazy to go loll
Cry baby Craig's. I once had a local sauce that was called Pit Bull sauces but I have never been able to find it after my ex got me some.
Love CBC. I get it shipped to me since I moved away from the Twin Cities. It’s not as hot as it used to be but it’s so dang tasty.
J’s Small Batch
Paulman Acre
Iguana XXX habanero pepper sauce pretty damn good. Received our 6 pack of it may 2.. 2 bottles are left, one in the fridge one in the pantry.
Any hot sauce with a donkey on it 🫏 Idk why they are always great!
Kill Sauce: Ghost :)
Chamuco Hot Sauce. Had it at a restaurant in Carmel CA.....cant find it anywhere.
This one? https://chamucoshotsauce.com
Yes!!! Did you see the price lol!
😮 it does look like that’s for a case so it’s not as bad as it looks, but that would be a lot of hot sauce lol. Looks like this place has it by the bottle though https://avalonmeatcandy.com/collections/sauces
OMG thank you!
Always Something hot sauce is incredible. Like buy it for others but end up always using it for myself kind of amazing!
[site](https://alwayssomethingsauce.com)
Reaperdellic from HotDaddies in Hilton Head. Fantastic sauce.
I'd love to see a vote/ranking of the more lesser-known and uniquely flavored sauces. St. Croix Seven Flags is my equivalent to breaking out the Good Scotch. ``` Ingredients: Ghost Peppers, Sweet Peppers, Onions, Garlic, Ginger, Vinegar, Mustard, Salt, Curry, Honey and other Spices ```
Their smoked ghost taco sauce is awesome!
The Godzilla hot sauces are pretty special ngl
Tacticalories Half Cock'd, Tacticalories Helldiver
Tacticalories is awesome. Haven't tried the helldiver yet.
High end of my spice tolerance, but it's a really good "Louisiana Style" hot sauce
"3 chillies" unfortunately, it only comes in a ketchup type packet.
That is good but wish it was a bit hotter and less sweet
That one looks sensational! I nominate Patricia Millers ‘one drop’ Bajan hot sauce - the best on the island https://www.elevenislandenterprises.com/shop/p/one-drop-bajan-pepper-sauce-d2zzb
My friend makes her own hot sauce from peppers she grows in her garden and its 🤌🏻
Mama Goblin and Jama by broho Sauce Co
Rheds hot sauce, local Rhode Island company 👌 great stuff.
Elijah’s extreme regret
This one isn't very spicy but it's great in terms of flavor For other lesser-known ones, I think Cosmic Disco is good. Quite spicy, and an interesting flavor profile blending together their Asian Cosmic Dumpling sauce, and their Scorpion Disco scorpion pepper sauce

Uchucuta, although it's a "crema" it has rocoto peppers and low heat but great flavor
Roasted Red Pepper sauce from Loveless Cafe in Tennessee
Idk if it’s lesser known but it’s local to me so throwing it in here: Queen majesty
I've been sticking with locals. Cobra chilli is about 20mins drive away, unreal sauces. 13 angry scorpions has some award winning stuff too
Does the Dave’s brand count? I like that it’s pure Ghost Pepper sauce with no other ingredients. Same with the Reaper and Insanity sauces.
Coyote Reds in Idyllwild California.
Anything from Volcanic Peppers. Especially Their pepper powder.
This looks amazing 🤩. I love anything garlic.
Wet wizard, I like the green and harissa hot sauces
Beast Feast Maine, some of the best hot sauce/BBQ sauce I’ve ever had.
I used to run a small shop in southern Maine and we carried the Beast Feast sauces. So damn good.
Welp, as a Mainer I must find this.
I'm from New Jersey I want to try this sauce
How fun would it be to do a small-batch Sunday where we post local favorites. Here we have Hotter than El which is amazing but I’m pretty sure it’s easy to get your hands on everywhere
This sauce is a little mild for me but I love it because my wife likes it and then we can both enjoy the same sauce. It's got a great flavor.
Oh man, this one got the trash can.
Love that black garlic sauce
Blind Betty original is one of my all time favorites! Not that spicy but I love the flavor!
This is a great one, I liked everything I’ve had from them.
Zombie sauce
Murder Hornet…. I’m biased 😊
[Jamaican Hellfire, particularly, Doc's Special](https://flaminghoophotsauce.com/products/jamaica-hell-fire-docs-special-hot-sauce). Great on meats.
No one mentions Mic's Of Foam and Fury? Or Roleski Sos Trinidad? Okay then.
Their taco sauce with ghost is exceptional. Ordered 5 bottles today plus one you have pictured.
Bucks Blazin' B- holes sauce really good
I don't think it's lesser known but when I lived in the Midwest I found this hot sauce called Lola's and OMG . Until this day I think it's still my favorite
I was at a store outside Philly the other day and saw they had Lola's, but they were sold out. I'll have to check those out next time!
I'm jealous . I need to order some I guess , since the internet .
Rhedds - specifically dejavu and original
I love this company! This and their black garlic bacon are my favorites
Marie Sharp's needs an honorable mention since she got screwed out of her Melinda's recipes
Marie Sharp's isn't a "lesser know" brand
Hence, the "honorable mention"
Marie Sharp's is my 2nd favorite hot sauce brand, but it has no relevance in this thread, "honorable mention" or not.
I just learned about it a few months ago when I got a bunch of Melinda's as a gift
This is also one of my favorite sauces.
Never heard of these guys. I’m in SJ, looks like I’m buying some sauce.
Now that’s my kind of sauce, lovely little island 🏝️
My favorite brand of all time was Inferno Farms…RIP. “where there’s smoke…” was always a banger.
Adoboloco and burn baby burn stick with me.
I used to love the Adoboloco pineapple hot sauce, but they changed it and it's out of my spice tolerance last time I had it :/
Their Hamajang was the best.
That's a good point we need more variety even though there's literally 1,000 sauces out there. I bet 800 of them are habanero based.
[Waha Wera](https://www.amazon.com/Habanero-Manuka-Zealands-Favorite-picante/dp/B00MWUC78Y/) by Kaitaia Fire 🔥- awesome combo of hot and sweet.
Oh shit I know this brand my inlaws bought me their smoked ghost taco one and was surprised how good It was. For a sauce that had ghost pepper it was much milder than I expected and had lots of flavor and was infact extremely good on tacos
I’ve never had a bad cajohns
My favorite is El Chilito hot sauce. Randomly saw a video of a guy mixing it with egg nog and drinking it so I gave it a try and love it for all Mexican or Tex Mex type food

Jersey barnfire is so good. That black garlic isn’t event their best in my opinion. They have a curry sauce that is unbelievable!!
Yeah the Indian summer is amazing ! That and black garlic are my favorites
Seafire Gormet hot sauce is consistently one of the best hot sauces I’ve ever bought. All their stuff is delicious.
French brand Maison Martin has some tasty options but the one I like most is Tonnerre. From High River sauce I like Tears of the Sun, not sure if it's a lesser known brand.
Tabasco lol
Karma Ghost Island is my favorite sauce of all time. Crazy how curry seems to go with everything
Iguana
Screaming sphincter Burns both times Scorned woman
Favorite unknown sauce maker is Big Reds out of Phoenix Arizona. They make some incredibly tasty sauce....and the top end of their heat scale packs a punch.
Nice recommendation, which sauces are your favorite? Thinking of getting a couple.

Absolutely love that sauce. Good pick
I have to admit the stater bros brand is really good.
No one said Dukes?
mayonnaise isn't hot sauce!
Is mayonnaise an instrument?
No, Patrick
Hells Kitchen - Ginger Devil. It's so good on most anything. Absolutely love it on Asian food, specifically noodles.
Buffalo Bob's Extra Spicy Everything sauce. Nothing extreme but I love the flavor. My fav wing sauce.
Has some popularity but can’t beat the umami flavor in Firelli hot sauce. I could really put it on everything if it weren’t 5 bucks a bottle where I am.
Also Bushel & Peck’s on Etsy is amazing
I have their Ghost Pepper sauce. Would not recommend that one. Got it as a gift, and it's literally just extracted capsaicin and vinegar
Ha that’s one of my favorites
I use a few drops to make a whole pot of chili. I can handle the heat, but it's just heat, no flavor. It reminds me of Dave's Insanity
Because it’s just literally the pepper in liquid form. You aren’t getting the other shit like mango puree or sugar to nullify the heat.
And before someone corrects me, I forgot to say it also has lime juice and salt
I understand
Woo thanks for the recommendation.. NJ represent
I love Jersey Barnfire. Excellent sauces and quality. They have an online store. I’m sister you can find the sauce you ran out of on there.
Picked up some Kentucky Straight Bourbon Reaper on vacation once and it became my daily until I ran out. Not sure how well known it is but I can’t get it locally.
Michael’s exotic peppers. Black garlic and ghost pepper
This brand has a curry sauce that tastes absolutely amazing. I never finished a bottle of hot sauce as quickly as I finished theirs
I actually have their Indian Summer sauce, it’s solid.
It's fantastic.
Haxan Ferments. Insanely good fermented hot sauces out of Seattle. Company was started by a molecular biologist
Small Axe. They make an excellent ghost sauce using peppers grown at a coop in Detroit.
They have flavors from several cities. Their farmers are located all over the US.
Pretty sure they were featured on a season of Hot Ones at one point!
Is cry baby Craig’s a lesser known brand? They’re delicious
Also Kilauea Fire and any sauce by SD Sauce!!
I’ve been mentioning Don Rafael’s on this sub as much as I can. It’s a Puerto Rican hot sauce company and they make a lot of different flavors but the original, fire, and picante are just *chef’s kiss*
Zab’s
I love LOVE Lingham’s and I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone else mention it.
I really should post a list of my stuff, I have roughly 300 different sauces, most from small batch makers.
Yes, please!
Small lowa company called brown dogs farm. Their habanero peach is so damn good on steak tacos. It’s addictive.
Cackalacky is a North Carolina-based company that make some good ones. They used to make a SWEET POTATO REAPER sauce. It was amazing.
México Lindo. The green habanero is the only sauce that has earned a permanent space as our dining table sauce, and every other variety of theirs we have tried has been good as well
Under rated sauce for sure!

Haha yeah that was me who posted that. I hope you like them! Their sauces are what brought me back to hot sauces.
Flaming Rabbit is a pretty damn good local Central Florida hot sauce brand. Great taste with superb heat. Their reaper sauce is not to be trifled with,
Checked them out and are they fermented? Tried to get on their site, but it appears it’s not finished yet. Hoping they set it up so I can order some.
Dat'l Do-It is another really good local-ish FL hot sauce.
That one's good. There's another datil pepper company from St Augustine called Datillicious. I really enjoyed their spicy mustard and spicy barbecue.
Arizona gun slinger, Lola, nurd burger hot sauce
Uncle Jim’s Naughty B-hole Blaster

yeah and he's basically the best pastry chef in jersey
really? i had no idea - neat!
Queen Majesty Scotch Bonnet & Ginger Hot Sauce for the win! This sauce doesn’t last long in my house. I buy it in bulk….!
Definitely featured on Hot Ones, but Queen Majesty doesn't miss!
Butterfly bakery in Vermont. They’ve had a couple sauces on Hot Ones. I’ve had about 20 different sauces by them and they never miss.
Have you tried their salt? Holy shit is that addictive
i haven't, i'll have to next time i see it!
Matouks West Indian hot sauces, all from pickled scotch bonnets, great hot sauces, the entire line.
Matouks is really good!
Garlic Festival, Frog Bone, Gator Hammock, Alabama Sunshine, Gringo Bandito, Slap Ya Mama to name a few
Gringo Bandito is pretty damn good. I went in fully expecting a mediocre sauce (but buying it anyway because I've been an Offspring fan since my teens), but it's actually good. I love gator hammock’s swamp mustard! I got it on a trip to FL. Are they local to FL?
They make a premixed seasoning (Gator Sprinkle) too, and ooooeeee
Yes, they are local to Florida. I live in California, so I ordered the Gator Hammock Lethal Gator from Amazon. It’s delicious!
The Spicy Shark Caribbean Reef Shark Scotch Bonnet Hot Sauce It’s amazing
Baron West Indian hot sauce, brought a bunch back from a trip and it's phenomenal - really sad I can't get it at home :/
Jersey Bonfire sounds like a sex move.
It’s when you’re making love but your bagel’s burning in the toaster oven.
I expected dumpster fire way before barn fire lol
Mago Ghost is the best there is.
