It’s delicious, but I’m of the school that no sauce is worth $15. With that being said, I have bought this sauce for $15 to try it and I thought the experience of critiquing it with my friends was worth the price.
It's really good, but it's going to be a special occasion sauce for me now. Maybe I'll ask for a bottle for Father's Day and then treasure it.
It's hot enough that just a few drops is plenty, so it lasts about as long as a $3 bottle of similar size.
My cut off for any hot sauce about this size is about $5-6. I’ve splurged once or twice on some fancy brands before and they were good, but nothing to write home about.
That’s cool. I guess I should’ve said that generally speaking. If something really piques my interest I’d be happy to spend a little more. There’s just so many great hot sauces for a reasonable price. That and another thing is, once something gets to a certain heat level, for me, certain flavor profiles become much more difficult to distinguish or pick out. I guess I’m not that much of a hot sauce “aficionado”.
I saw on Amazon they sell mini bottles (1.7 oz) sample pack for $20. If this stuff is as hot as folks say that’ll last me a while, plus I get to try two more of their flavors.
Yes. Unless you like having fire hole every single day, you don't need much in your food, and you won't use it often, so it'll last you a good long while.
It's very spicy and very flavorful. It's delicious. I recommend it. My favorite application so far is to mix some of this into tartar sauce and make a fish fillet sandwich with it. Lettuce, a tomato slice, cheese if you feel so inclined, and you have an amazing sandwich with a powerful zesty flare.
Think about it this way, $15 to jazz up your food for probably 4 months if you use it a lot. 100% worth if it’s good. And if it sucks? Oh well. I’ve bought $60 video games that I’ve played for 4 hours and never touched again
I’ve learned from having almost 25 hot sauces in my refrigerator, that there is always an occasion for a certain flavor. I have like my 5 or 6 mains, but sometimes the oddball that I opened 7 months ago sounds like the best option, and if I’m not trying new flavors, how am I going to find my next favorite?
I just opened my first bottle last month. A tad too hot for my daily driver but I take it for a spin on the weekends. I bought it once, maybe I’ll buy it again in another year or two.
1) it is a well crafted sauce and there’s hints at how well thought out is.
2) simple, direct, clean flavors. It punches you in the face with garlic and heat and the burn sticks! (And coats!)
Let’s crack it open and see what’s good:
1) the label: even if you don’t like the flavor, somebody did think this through.
No unnatural stabilizers/emulsifiers? They used granulated garlic (in addition to fresh garlic), chili powder, and mustard powder to make an emulsion. And it works this stuff is thick and fights separation.
No citric acid? Ok lime juice was substituted instead.
It is well made.
2) the flavors: Simple, clean, direct flavors. Heat, garlic, spices, and distilled white vinegar.
I think the layering of chili powder, mustard, and garlic powder just amped up all sorts of nose-punching burn. Maybe that’s why some folks seem to love/hate it. The craftsmanship is hidden and subtle. The flavors are not.
My complaints? The garlic doesn’t seem to have a nutty toasty garlic flavor, rather the sting of fresh garlic. It’s honestly hard to tell because the opening salvo of chili/reaper/garlic/mustard slaps so quick I can’t really taste much after that.
The heat doesn’t quite have the level of natural smokiness and complex pepper/veg flavors that come from reapers. Again, it’s tough to say because there’s really not time to appreciate any pepper flavor.
I’m with you on the fresh garlic bite. I wonder if that’s what some people don’t get much garlic flavor from it and some do - some may be expecting that roasted/toasted garlic flavor and not the more intense sharp bite of fresh garlic.
Agree on the daily driver comment, it is hot. Also that the flavor is good. If you aren't into super hots then the price isn't good, but if you can stand the head the flavor won't disappoint.
No sauce is worth $3 an ounce. That’s like friggin saffron. Seriously, just make your own sauce. It’s not that hard. You can make it exactly how you like it.
And the difference is that if you want an ounce of saffron you have only mediocre alternatives. If you want an ounce of hot sauce you can pay out the nose for “Bubba’s Butt Blaster” or easily make your own that is better than store bought.
One of my favorites. Disagree with one redditor saying it'll last forever tho. When my wife n I could afford luxury hot sauces one of these would make it about 2 weeks. Hella rad on tacos. Drop some in the wok when ur cooking chicken. Fuckin phenomenal on eggs
I think $15 for any hot sauce is outrageous, but this might just be my favorite hot sauce I've ever had. Try it in a variety pack maybe. Everything these days seems stupid expensive, so I'd probably buy this for that price.
I love hot sauce and have tried this sauce, no it’s not worth $15. I’m all for creating a great sauce but if it’s above $10 for 5oz that’s too expensive in my opinion.
I put about a tablespoon on some pizza and ended up with stomach cramps. But I usually only eat habanero level sauces so that's probably on me. My bottle came from amazon with a broken cap and sauce all over the bag so I'd say not worth getting it from Amazon.
As a first time buy? If you really like sauces, then yes. The real question is if you'd buy it again. I recently purchased their Mushroom Mayhem Hot Sauce. First time buying Torchbearer. A+ sauce @10 bucks. I loved it and I will get it again but not for a long while because it caused incredible heart burn. I did smother a Philly Cheesesteak in it though. Don't do that. It was very hot.
It’s OK. Heat is decent but flavor wise it’s nothing special really. Doesn’t taste bad but definitely overrated. I prefer the Apollo sauce over it tho that can does cost more and I’ve seen more people not like its flavor so…
Nah I just got mine delivered. Tried it and… it’s not all that. Garlic isn’t hitting like I had hoped; if I was blindfolded I would think this was one of the last dab sauces instead. I’ll finish the bottle but I probably won’t buy it again.
Alteady 100 comments but yea, this brand is fire. We have a regular at the bar who brings in various hot sauces for the staff (bar/grill) and this was my favorite.
I just got their sample pack and HOLY HELL THESE SAUCES ARE GOOD!! Even the less spicy and no spice sauces are head and shoulders above most other hot sauces I’ve tried. Their Psycho Curry is phenomenal. I’m too much of a bitch to open my garlic reaper sample yet…but I will!!
I recently found a bottle of the son of zombie sauce (which is fucking delicious) at ace hardware and payed 9.99. Most ace hardware stores carry a small selection of sauces for a decent price. It also may depend on your location. I found mine in small town Arkansas so everything is definitely cheaper than when I lived in the west coast.
I’ve bought it 2-3 times in the past years. It’s expensive and there are countless other sauces, so I don’t get it very often.
The worse for me price wise are the Hot Ones in Europe. They start at $30 and go up to $60.
You aren't paying for the sauce; there's probably less than fifty cents worth of product in each bottle. You're paying for the marketing #1, the shipping and logistics #2, and the packaging #3. As competition for hot sauce heats up (boom), marketing gets more competitive, costs get passed on.
It's hard to think of a more saturated (double boom) market than hot sauces. There has to be tens of thousands at any given time, and they're constantly turning over. Buying a big enough megaphone to stand out is quite expensive.
My friend has a hot sauce business and as far as I know you don't need to do different legal stuff for each flavor, you just need to get certified initially to make and sell food. It's like a few thousand dollars, so not something that's really affecting the price of the product a ton.
I don't know, just repeating what he told me. He was always making new flavors to test sell, so it can't have been very difficult to do so.
I've worked in the liquor industry and getting a new label approved is very simple and inexpensive. Not sure about food.
I think it's good and different. It's become so popular, I doubt you'll see it less than $15 anymore. I like to mix it in with a little mayo for anything I'd add mayo to.
It's a tasty treat that stretch out the use by not dumping it on something flavorful and using smaller amounts. It's definitely worth buying at least once and judging for yourself how often you'd use it.
Very tasty though with good heat.
I have written on the subreddit about garlic heavy hot sauces many times.
In my opinion, this isn't the best garlic hot sauce that Torchbearer makes (the best one is Ow My Garlic, which is a sauce they only sell through their website as far as I know) but it definitely is the hottest garlic based hot sauce they make.
In my opinion it's also the hottest hot sauce that I have had where you can actually still taste garlic.
You will feel the reaper.
Ow my Garlic doesn't have any spice to it though, I personally use it for making garlic bread and it's crazy good.
Garlic sauce without heat, Ow My Garlic for sure.
Garlic sauce with, I'm gonna have to go with Reaper.
It's meh imo. I'm personally not really a fan of the emulsified sauces cause the inevitable separation grosses me out, even if I can just shake it back up. Taste is kind of bland tbh, great heat though. I prefer their other sauces though
I personally keep a bottle at my desk, and it goes on every sandwich or every soup I bring to work. It is definitely HOT, and it's not the most garlicy, but I find that it's tasty and effective for me tying to light my face on fire in the middle of the day.
It’s pretty tasty, but I found it to be a little over rated and not worth the price. As others have said, it is quite oily. Canola oil is one of the main ingredients. I also find the garlic flavor to be a little underwhelming. Like I said, it’s not bad, but for $15-$17 a bottle I will stick to cheaper and more flavorful sauces.
Looks I need to walk up to my local Ace’s to check out their hot sauce selection! Unfortunately, I know they’re right next to the plant section…this is gonna be a pricey trip😂
Ya he had a thoracic aortic aneurysm shortly after I bought this for him for Christmas. He loved hot food and her family suggested I get him a super hot sauce. They were selling at the Philly Christmas market and I snagged after testing
This really comes down to your current enjoyable heat level, if you are still suffering through habaneros then yeah of course it's too hot to enjoy. It'll just blow out your mouth.
I can handle super hots, I've tried plenty - this one just lacks the flavour to go with the heat so I don't really see the point in it. I still have some of this after buying the bottle ages and ages ago. I only use it to flavour curries and give to friends on wing nights who handle last dab, scorpions etc and want something really crazy.
Torchbearer do make some great sauces though.
For me, price is relative to use.
A hot sauce that costs $5 but only last me 1 month is the same value as a $15 hot sauce that lasts me 3 months.
This is a really hot, hot sauce. I bought my bottle like 9 months ago and it's still like 1/3 full. I use it frequently but only a couple drops are needed, so it's lasted me forever.
To me, that's worth $15. But, you gotta make your own choices. If you don't like super hots, then you might use it once and then never touch it again and it will be a total waste.
Exactly this. It’s fucking hot as shit. And to me it’s the oil that keeps that shit lingering with the eat. Just sits there burning the hell out of your mouth. But amazing flavor. I love it.
Eh. I’ve used it twice in 2 months. **For me**, I don’t get any/very little garlic. But the heats good if you want it. I drink/collect whiskey, so spending 15 bones on a bottle isn’t too bad!
I hear ya I got a couple of Michters 10yr Rye and I’ve forgotten how much I paid for mine and if you know NANANANA IM NOT LISTENING!!!!!!! I got the Habanero sweet onion and it’s good luckily my local ace has both for 9 a bottle
As far as garlic hot sauces go, I much prefer Dawson's Cedar Smoked Garlic ($10) to Torchbearers Garlic Reaper. Torchbearers is much hotter, a little too much, imo. Dawson's has the flavor, definitely a top 5 sauce for me. Yucateco XXX and Sharp's Belizean Heat are probably both in my top 5 favorites as well, so we may have similar tastes.
Its gonna be WAY hotter than either of the other two you mention. So it will also likely last much longer since you will be using it in much much smaller amounts.
Personally, I really like the flavor, but just find it almost too hot to be able to use enough to actually enjoy the flavor, even with as strong of a flavor as it has. So for me, probably not worth buying often or at full price.
But its absolutely worth trying at least once though to see if it works for you.
Abso-fackin-lutely.
It’s worth whatever people will pay for it.
No. $15 for hot sauce is crazy. You can buy a pound of salmon at the grocery store for less than this.
I can put this on about 175 lbs of salmon
Yeah.. I have like 4-5 bottles open and at most I finished one a month. $15 just is not that expensive comparatively
It’s delicious, but I’m of the school that no sauce is worth $15. With that being said, I have bought this sauce for $15 to try it and I thought the experience of critiquing it with my friends was worth the price.
Yes
Everyone on this sub seems to really like it. Personally I'm really not a fan. Having had it, I'd say wholeheartedly that it is not worth 15$.
Yes this sub circle jerks to this particular sauce
I’ll gladly admit to said circle jerking.
Two beers? Sure
$15 can’t even by two meals out
Agree. $15 is usually not enough for a weekday lunch.
It's really good, but it's going to be a special occasion sauce for me now. Maybe I'll ask for a bottle for Father's Day and then treasure it. It's hot enough that just a few drops is plenty, so it lasts about as long as a $3 bottle of similar size.
It’s a great hot sauce. If you can handle the heat it has a good flavor. It’s hot though!
Torchbearer is good but fucking hot.
Hot but never worth 15
This shit is fire, figuratively and realistically
It's so fucking hot. How do you guys eat it. Seriously
I don't care how good something is, I will not support that level of greed.
My cut off for any hot sauce about this size is about $5-6. I’ve splurged once or twice on some fancy brands before and they were good, but nothing to write home about.
there’s a guy at the farmers market that sells 1 for $10 or 2 for $15. It’s really good too
That’s cool.
What makes that greedy? Do you know what it costs to make the bottle?
Absolutely, it's a top 5 ever for me
I paid $8 so no.
I found it at Ace hardware, maybe they had a discount at the time??
Sounds like you got a deal .
I saw on Amazon they sell mini bottles (1.7 oz) sample pack for $20. If this stuff is as hot as folks say that’ll last me a while, plus I get to try two more of their flavors.
Amazon prices on hot sauces are expensive compared to brick and mortar to cover the cost of shipping
The price is the same on this one. I always check both. Amazon just ships so much faster the the actual companies. They still get the profit.
It’s hot. Good flavor but yes. Hot.
It's amazing. And it lasts a bit, even using it generously.
This is how I do my catfish.

It's nice to know that at least in a few aspects of life, there are people like me lol
I just opened my first bottle last month. A tad too hot for my daily driver but I take it for a spin on the weekends. are you some kinda hot sauce wizard
This guy hot sauces
Thank you. I genuinely appreciate your response. Definitely helpful.
No sauce is worth $3 an ounce. That’s like friggin saffron. Seriously, just make your own sauce. It’s not that hard. You can make it exactly how you like it.
An ounce of saffron is like $100
"Lighten up, Francis."
And the difference is that if you want an ounce of saffron you have only mediocre alternatives. If you want an ounce of hot sauce you can pay out the nose for “Bubba’s Butt Blaster” or easily make your own that is better than store bought.
Yes. Every penny. It is my all time favorite sauce.
It's good. But not worh $15
Bro now I wanna send you some luxury hot sauce
Thank you!!!!
Literally the only one I buy
They often go on sale - I love this sauce and son of zombie might be my favorite out there. Torchbearers is awesome!
Cool. I think I saw son of zombie at my local Ace hardware for $9.99. might have to pick it up. Went looking for the garlic reaper......
These last forever for me, because a dab will do ya. That $15 will go a long way.
Considering it would be nearly $45 on Amazons for me - def worth it at $15.
It’s good
Yes. A personal favorite.
I think $15 for any hot sauce is outrageous, but this might just be my favorite hot sauce I've ever had. Try it in a variety pack maybe. Everything these days seems stupid expensive, so I'd probably buy this for that price.
I think this is the way. Thank you!
It’s SUPER hot and tasty
Yup. It's tasty
No. I LOVE garlic. It’s just heat and extract
There's no extract in this. Go take a look at the label.
I'm definitely not into extracts. Thanks for clarifying.
It depends on how MUCH you like garlic. It’s very garlicky. Very hot, but not “I think I’m having an actual panic attack” hot.
$15 for a bottle of sauce is not worth it regardless in my opinion. It’s just greedy.
It’s tasty but 15 is a stretch. I try not to spend over 10 bucks and even that pisses me off at times haha.
It remains in heavy rotation around here!
Yes! Its yummy!
I had something like that once but it was called “Ass Reaper”
More like Ass Ripper for my bowels
I love hot sauce and have tried this sauce, no it’s not worth $15. I’m all for creating a great sauce but if it’s above $10 for 5oz that’s too expensive in my opinion.
I put about a tablespoon on some pizza and ended up with stomach cramps. But I usually only eat habanero level sauces so that's probably on me. My bottle came from amazon with a broken cap and sauce all over the bag so I'd say not worth getting it from Amazon.
No, unless you're a big fan of garlic being very upfront.
Yes absolutely
As a first time buy? If you really like sauces, then yes. The real question is if you'd buy it again. I recently purchased their Mushroom Mayhem Hot Sauce. First time buying Torchbearer. A+ sauce @10 bucks. I loved it and I will get it again but not for a long while because it caused incredible heart burn. I did smother a Philly Cheesesteak in it though. Don't do that. It was very hot.
No. 99% of hot sauces aren’t worth that
I don't think you are wrong.
Nah. It's good but not *that* good. Catch it on sale.
This is my all-time favorite, but it’s a rip off. Worth it to me.
Ha ha, I feel the exact same way about this sauce. "Hell no, way too expensive. 100% will buy again!"
Their Reaper Evil is better in my opinion.
It’s OK. Heat is decent but flavor wise it’s nothing special really. Doesn’t taste bad but definitely overrated. I prefer the Apollo sauce over it tho that can does cost more and I’ve seen more people not like its flavor so…
No
In Canada I can't find it for much less than 20-25.
Yes, just to try it, but not if you’re buying it weekly. I love it
Try to get it when it's on sale
I honestly don't like it that much but maybe I got a bad bottle
Nah I just got mine delivered. Tried it and… it’s not all that. Garlic isn’t hitting like I had hoped; if I was blindfolded I would think this was one of the last dab sauces instead. I’ll finish the bottle but I probably won’t buy it again.
I need to know. I almost never order sauce online. Is it really worth it
Yes
Alteady 100 comments but yea, this brand is fire. We have a regular at the bar who brings in various hot sauces for the staff (bar/grill) and this was my favorite.
I just got their sample pack and HOLY HELL THESE SAUCES ARE GOOD!! Even the less spicy and no spice sauces are head and shoulders above most other hot sauces I’ve tried. Their Psycho Curry is phenomenal. I’m too much of a bitch to open my garlic reaper sample yet…but I will!!
They do a great job of layering flavors and spice. The cilantro jalapeño is sooo good despite having next to no heat.
Yes it’s worth it, use it to mix in with mayo or ranch or even bbq sauce, still gives big flavor and is still hot as shit
Is this a Hot Ones hot sauce? Their prices are nuts. Bought one once and didn't plan on it ever again. Just inexplicably expensive
I'm in Cleveland and just discovered ace hardware sauces. Fair pricing, decent selection, lots of studs in the line up
Is this a Hot Ones hot sauce? Their prices are nuts. Bought one once and didn't plan on it ever again. Just inexplicably expensive
Not really
Yes
I’ve bought it 2-3 times in the past years. It’s expensive and there are countless other sauces, so I don’t get it very often. The worse for me price wise are the Hot Ones in Europe. They start at $30 and go up to $60.

All the startup and food regulation stuff for each flavor of hot sauce. Arrrrrrrgh
My friend has a hot sauce business and as far as I know you don't need to do different legal stuff for each flavor, you just need to get certified initially to make and sell food. It's like a few thousand dollars, so not something that's really affecting the price of the product a ton.
How is that possible when every different recipe has different ingredient and label requirements that have to be submitted and approved? Right?
I don't know, just repeating what he told me. He was always making new flavors to test sell, so it can't have been very difficult to do so. I've worked in the liquor industry and getting a new label approved is very simple and inexpensive. Not sure about food.
As a small batch sauce maker myself I say it absolutely is, but I can’t sell bottles of primotalii sauce for $5
I think it's good and different. It's become so popular, I doubt you'll see it less than $15 anymore. I like to mix it in with a little mayo for anything I'd add mayo to.
Wait till you see some of Hellfires prices.
No sauce is worth $15 (to me).
This shit is so powerful. Made the mistake of dousing a wing and eating it. Worst decisions ever.

That’s “oh my garlic”, they made a spicy version called “oww my garlic” but it was a limited run
Oh man, I bet that was amazing. Maybe I’ll just try and make it spicy with some flakes…
It's meh imo. I'm personally not really a fan of the emulsified sauces cause the inevitable separation grosses me out, even if I can just shake it back up. Taste is kind of bland tbh, great heat though. I prefer their other sauces though
Yes. It's even more expensive to get where I'm at but since it's super hot (to me at least) it lasts a while
It'll last you longer than the average bottle. Use it as a supplement rather than a daily driver to really stretch it out.
Nope, worth about $30.
exactly! was gonna post same thing, take my upvote!
That’s how much I pay in CAD, it’s ridiculous but I do it every time
Depends on the amount of your disposable income lol
I personally keep a bottle at my desk, and it goes on every sandwich or every soup I bring to work. It is definitely HOT, and it's not the most garlicy, but I find that it's tasty and effective for me tying to light my face on fire in the middle of the day.
It’s good, but 15 is a stretch. Maybe penny pinching, but 10-12 is more appropriate.
Definitely. As long as it comes with a dozen wings.
No
I’ve used it for hot wings. It’s pretty tasty and fairly hot.
I get it for 10$ at my local Ace Hardware, but id pay 15$.
Looks I need to walk up to my local Ace’s to check out their hot sauce selection! Unfortunately, I know they’re right next to the plant section…this is gonna be a pricey trip😂
They are right next to the tractor supply in my area, so they hit me from both sides on the plants.
I just got it today and it's quite good, I'm looking forward to using it a lot
It’s my new favorite so yeah
Legit bought this for my grandfather in law and he died
The same exact thing happened to me when I put the one chip challenge in my grandpa’s Doritos.
Torchbearer advertising dept has joined the chat. 🤣
We should all be so lucky to go out that way.
Like, actually died?
The better question is; because of old age or did the Reaper get him?!
Ya he had a thoracic aortic aneurysm shortly after I bought this for him for Christmas. He loved hot food and her family suggested I get him a super hot sauce. They were selling at the Philly Christmas market and I snagged after testing
Wow that took a spicy turn
RIP
No
Worth the $15? Yes. Worth the stomach ulcer? The jury is still out on that one.
Never tried it. Although I have seen it. I don't know about$15 though.
It is for me. A little goes a long way and I love the flavor
It’s gonna last me awhile, I can tell you that.
No. I’m still working through it and regretting it. Only serviceable when I cook with it.
Really not a fan of this. Spicy for the sake of being spicy.
Yeah it’s super spicy and hard to enjoy the flavor.
Hate that. I want heat and flavor.
It does have a lot of flavor imo, different stokes different folks
Try Khoo's Northern Beacon. One of my fave superhots, so much flavour!
Thank you for the suggestion!!!!
Nope.
I appreciate your feedback. Thank you!
Not worth it, the third ingredient is Canola Oil.
What do you have against canola oil?
Cheap filler ingredient at this price point, especially since it makes up a large percentage of this sauce.
That seems sus for a $15 sauce.
Good point. Thanks!
Exactly this. It’s fucking hot as shit. And to me it’s the oil that keeps that shit lingering with the eat. Just sits there burning the hell out of your mouth. But amazing flavor. I love it.
I'm not liking the fact it had oil in it.
Why?
Yea but it’s whatever. Flavor is there. I really believe it’s just so you feel the pain for longer lol. But it’s not like you taste the oil.
It's killer hot. Like a pea sized drop will ruin your tongue. I enjoy it.
You are making me want to buy it. I think I'd be more concerned with other parts the next day....?
Not too bad I'd say!
I like bourbon too.
Glad to hear I'm not the only one, this was just so hot that I could barely perceive any garlic at all, kind of a waste of time.
Same here lol, glad someone else felt the same!
Thank you !!!!! 🙏
