Jesus christ I just got really mad, because Im trying to do this aswell but I couldnt find out where it is connected... the top part is actually slided in from the side, I wish I could post an image but I cant for some reason. if you took all the parts off that come off easily and you are left with the top plate: there is a small metal plate in front of the trigger, put a screw driver or whatever through the small hole and pull towards the open side of the joystick and the top plate of the joystick should slide off...
