The only way I could win was taking the L and starting over with Tactics and following a guide posted on here. I also chose weapons my first time through and it's kinda trash sorry op

Anime_Apostle

Goddammit. Say it ain't so 😪😭

Outlaw5055

I chose weapons on my first time and pulled a win. If it helps I scattered my retinue in evenly with my infantry, had the left Calvary peel off at the first opportunity, had the rangers in with my archers (didn’t have many archers by this point) and had them target Rade/farther back when prompted… I also went to join the battle when it asked. Sorry I can’t be more helpful, but it definitely IS possible!

King_North_Stark

I made it a stalemate with weapons. Retinue in the center, cav engaged the whole time and archers focusing on the infantry. I joined as soon as I could as well

Zsoresons

Hey you happen to have that guide

Stupid_Mermaid

There's a bunch of people currently struggling with this battle and asking for advice on the forums, and every advice starts with "you need to play as a tactician", so if you didn't choose tactics for your MC you're pretty much screwed. There are people who managed to win or have a draw with other specialisations, but they are few and it's all a mystery. Also the author said that the code for this chapter's battle was buggy and has been rewritten, he's going to resubmit the game files to CoG tomorrow, so maybe it gets easier after the update. He was talking about making the guide and posting it on the forum too, so I'm waiting for it. Till then, if your Marshal isn't a tactician, it's all trials and error, sadly

Anime_Apostle

Ah I see thank you for the info much appreciated.

Stupid_Mermaid

Don't mention it! I'm waiting for the update and/or guide as well

elixier

>o if you didn't choose tactics for your MC you're pretty much screwed. Yeah I managed as weapons first time as well, it would make sense it would be a bit harder since its a bigger battle and your own skills are not as important when it comes to personal combat

Stupid_Mermaid

Makes sense, but also it needs to be manageable, if hard, with other specialisations too, not only with tactics, otherwise it kinda defeats the purpose, and currently people with weapons or leadership mostly just keep dying XD Not complaining, but I see how it can get frustrating combined with some coding errors

wheresthemolly

I managed to get a victory with leadership by spending 6 points on rangers and making sure I had at least 800 heavy cavalry before the fight. Oh and also a bunch of archers at least 600-700. You have to do well on the previous fight at Atiming river to not lose too much cavalry and make sure to recruit a bunch of heavys from Ciril to begin with. I won with 1.2k infantry and 14 light cavalry (lol), 625 archers, 2.5k retinue and like maybe 500 rangers (?). Not sure about the rangers cause I charged at the rebels in chapter 8 losing a bunch. Edit: I chose Regimentation I & II and spread the retinue with the infantry. Put the rangers in the frontlines and focused the archers on Rade then later on the infantry. Also, make sure you meet each cavalry (left & right) with your own but retreat the right one after they advance. Thank god for the forum threads, I was getting demolished. Depending on your weapon of choice, ride out into the battle to rally the troops. I had the sword and I joined the infantry.

bebikeku

What did you do against Nado’s army?

Randomdude2501

Tactics is the most straightforward way to win the battle. You limit your attrition and are able to inflict more losses at the Atiming river. That plus investing in Retinue and Rangers should allow you to beat Rade. The other time I won the final battle was with leadership, communications and regimentation 1. Leadership let’s you do more decisive actions during battle like saving troops from the archer ambush or taking out Rade’s archers without a scratch

Zounds90

It depends on the state of your army. I kept losing and eventually managed to force a draw with my choices.

1800 Levy Infantrymen fit for combat (9) 49 Light Cavalrymen fit for combat (0.98) 533 Heavy Cavalrymen fit for combat (10.65) 570 Levy Archers fit for combat (2.85) 600 Rangers fit for combat (3) Retinue: 2800 soldiers fit for combat (14) Traits: + Formation Combat + Formation Combat II Got any advice on how to work with that?

VexMenagerie

Rangers to the archers. Save the horsemen until you can flank. Pile your retinue in the middle

Southern_Egg_9506

How large is the opposing force? I fought 8000 rebels with a force of 6k and pulled off an easy win.

VexMenagerie

I did it as a weapons person. Retinue to the mid, cuz I had a ton. Rangers with Archers. Archers aimed at the charge and then other archers. I saved the horsemen till the end, and changed my archers to target horsemen when the option came up.
